Resetting SERVICE message (NOT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT) with IDrive system (CBD clusters)

Thank you so much for this video. I’ve just had a full service on my E60 and the inept so called mechanics told me there’s no way to reset it as it’s a fault with the system. Followed this video and reset it myself in 2 minutes

I can get to that section, but can't change date. "Please contact BMW dealer to change oil" is the message on the screen.

Yes, well this doesn't work for later BMW E60/61 vehicles with iDrive and mileage intervals like oil change or brake fluid flush. Still looking for how to reset those without having to break out the diagnostic tools.

It's just an annual reminder to get the vehicle serviced. BMW has 12 month intervals for certain services and this is simply a reminder. This customer used it specifically for the annual state inspection.

Marvin Phipps if you are referring to the brake pad warning light on the dash, you need to replace the wear sensor that was connected to the brake pads. There is no official "reset" for the brake pad indicator. Just the wire. Each axle only has one wire, I.e. The front left has one and the right rear has the other. Even if it looks good when you did the pads, if your light is on, it's needs to be replaced.

If I remember correctly, the inspection part of that screen is all that is interactive. The rest are just visual reminders. The others have to be reset via the instrument cluster. Once reset they will show up green in the CBD display.
