This worked! I had to turn it off and back on again before using the button-combo. Turns out I had to clear my queue, just like you mentioned! Didn't realize having a queue would make the clear-functionality not work.

"HC" stands for High Capacity. When you buy a new toner cartridge for a colour (e.g. black), there will be two options, i.e. a normal yield and a high yield. The high yield will last longer than the normal cartridge as it has more toner inside than the normal one. If you have a normal cartridge, select the reset for "STD". If you have a high yield one, select the reset for "HC".

Please I need help. I did this method a while back but I need to reset it again. Alas right at the moment where I need to press ok for reset it just won't do anything. I tried resetting the whole machine to factory settings but it didn't help. Please I hate having now a deadweight because it won't print with one toner 'empty'

Thank you. The only thing I would suggest is to put some kind of message on the video stating to press the Secure and Cancel button simultaneously because we can't tell with your fingers in the way. Once I figured it out though it worked!

I have a Brother 3140 CW, and the two times before that I changed cartridges, everything was fine. This was the second time, changing cyan, and it just wouldn't take it! This worked! I bought real new open case Brother drums and it worked. The instructions from Brother were ‘mysterious’, but you made it easy to follow, especially is you look at the buttons you push!

i was getting the low toner warning for months and printed a few hundred pages despite the warning. makes me wonder how many people changed the cartridge when they first get that warning. im guessing that the warning came on at about 25% life left when it should come on closer to 5%. like you though i did change it out when it started printing with lower quality. i also used a generic replacement which was getting rejected by the machine due to anti consumer practices but that was easily solved just by switching the chip out from the name brand cartridge with the generic one. so as far as the printer is concerned i have a name brand cartridge in there.

Toner are so expensive for this unit. Tomorrow I will be doing a drop test from a 10 story building. You might be ask is that even necessary. No. Does this one bit help the printer. No. But will I get a life time of satisfaction of seeing my broken printer and not to mention all the broken pieces on the floor. Heck Ya!

I hate this printer. It belongs to my church and it seems like I'm trying to fix it at least twice a month. Currently, the ink in a brand new toner is coming out faded and all I can find is to clean off the corona wire (doesn't work). My church is close to an interstate overpass and if it wouldn't hurt the cars below, I would toss it from the bridge!

You are absolutely right and I did it with my black monochrome Brother h1210w aswell but you have to open the crartridge and reset the gear on the side then it works again and gives 1000 pages of printing more. Its a waste of how many cartridges are thrown away om this planet even if they are half full just because of the greediness of managers doing this on purpose to fill they pocket with money, shame on you!

There is actually a real technical reason for the toner cartridge to not be completely empty when done. In toner technology, the best toner particles are chosen first by the developer roller, so if you reset the toner, the powder left in the cartridge is of worse quality. I am in no way affiliated with any printer manufacturer. I still believe that printer companies are doing a lot of things to make even more money on you, but this is at least partially a technical reason, not necessarily just a way to make more money.

Yeah mine says "No Data Stored" when I follow this procedure. Can't even get to the reset selection for toner using the guide on the Inksaver site covering a slew of Brother printers. Mine just gives me an option the reset "Everything to Factory Defaults" or reset "Network" when I finally manage to get to a Reset menu.

Hey friend, just watched another video and figured out the problem! I got confused here when he says "Press on the Secure and Cancel button(s)". I was walking from room to room doing this and thought the "Secure and Cancel " button was 1 button. I didn't realize he was pressing BOTH the SECURE and CANCEL buttons at the same time (2 different buttons). I was only using the SECURE button. The way he does it quickly you have to look to see him pressing CANCEL along with SECURE. After that, it worked great. I didn't even have to cycle the printer Off/On. I just popped the cover ajar, hit "SECURE/CANCEL" buttons together and everything else was gravy.
