I have had a very hard time studying for the mcat this year and thought abt giving up so many times. I never commented but I just want to tell you that seeing your video gives me so much motivation and happiness, its like seeing a future that I might be able to achieve! Good luck with your residency app!

We've been here as a community since a long time and watching you grow has given me sooo much encouragement and inspiration to do the same! It was actually good to see you talk about teaching and guiding 2nd yr med students for suturing and the procedure, while i am still able to remember how you used to practice for the same 2 yrs back!! time indeed flys. Lots of luck and virtual positive energy to you 💗🌱🤗✨!!!!!!

Wow, it seems super inconsiderate and frankly unprofessional that these programs wouldn't take your time zone into consideration when scheduling interviews. This is a job interview, it shouldn't matter if medicine is 24/7, it should still be conducted during business hours!
@josephdahdouh27252 жыл бұрын
I know right that is when you know that the residency program is bad when they can't even take simple measures to ensure professionalism and respect towards their possible future residents
@kaitlynkilpatrick362 жыл бұрын
Um. Lol. 9a eastern time means 5a west coast time. They aren't going to accommodate everyone because they have their own residency to run and people to see and most of the time it's already a half day that is being carved out. What usually happens is they have set days and times with multiple slots for candidates per day. An email gets sent out to over 100 people and they just have to get a slot that works for them/as quick as possible. It makes sense to prioritize the actual resident's schedules because they're the ones who have the busier schwdules. That's the thing that sucks about virtual interviews but more people can go to them because you save the money of travel so you aren't as limited. It's a tradeoff that largely benefits students in the long run because they can interview at more places whereas before if you didn't have they money to travel, you were SOL. If they accommodated her it would make the entire day wasted for staff and residents instead of a half day and if it's normally an afternoon interview it would be 3-7 or 4-8 her time which isn't fair to the residents who already have long days.
@josephdahdouh27252 жыл бұрын
@@kaitlynkilpatrick36 Nice. I didn't know that the residents are the ones to perform the interview
@kaitlynkilpatrick362 жыл бұрын
@@josephdahdouh2725 there is always at least one resident with faculty that perform it because you want to see a resident's perspective of the program as well and it can be a chance to ask questions you wouldn't be comfortable asking an attending. You also have to see if personalities match as well considering you spend most of your waking hours with these people for at least three years

Hey Rachel thanks for the lovely video I’m glad all your interviews went well! For many students especially international ones these residency interviews may be their first job interviews they’ve ever given so it can be really nerve racking not knowing what an ideal answer looks like. Also great tip with the putty at your desk and the checking yourself on zoom I’ll Reiner to use that too. If you plan of doing fire interview tips I would love to have more in dept tips like how you chose which programs to apply to and how your experience may differ from your colleagues experience with interviews or even how to be yourself lol I guess it always aid be yourself be natural but it’s so hard to let yourself be shown when you also want to impress.

Freaking out for interviews for residency is appropriate and very much different than patient care. It’s okay to have emotions and experience stress, excitement, nervousness. We are human. Doctors are humans. Medical students are humans.
