Resident Evil 2 Remake Speed Run Tutorial - [NG] No Recovery Items, No Item Box & Under 14000 Steps. This run is intended to help you guys get a few of the tougher achievements for Resident Evil 2 Remake, those achievements are Frugalist - Complete the game without using a recovery item, Minimalist - Clear the game without opening the item box and A Small Carbon Footprint - Take 1400 steps or fewer in one playthrough. I'm not sure what the world record is for this game but hopefully this run will go towards developing something if anyone is looking for a Claire resource.

On G's Second fight You Can Just Stand Next to the Red Herb and Stay Still. He wont be able to Hurt you with it's Arm by doing that and you save Steps instead of Running around dodging him. Then do what they said. Run by pass him as soon as he enters the room.

@@eduardoluna4199 This works! I tried it too. You can even line up a great shot for his big 'eye' weak-spot. Backing off and dropping flame rounds onto him before you get to the crane seems to speed up the fight.

I was under the impression the fat zombie at the police station was at the vending machine, not because that's where he turned necessarily, but because that's the ONE part of his brain still working from his normal, human self. It was such a vital part of his routine as a fat police officer that the muscle memory kicks in even when he's a brain dead zombie lol.

Hello IFreeMz. Somethings I wanted to clarify for you. 1. You can check your steps in the records. 2. For G's second fight, as he opens up the shutter door, you can actually just run past him during his "breaking in" animation 3. For the greenhouse, the keypads are actually negative space numbers. It goes from 1 all the way up to 9, with Zero being at the bottom between Back and Enter. The codes you had entered were 3123 and 2067

When you're about to rescue Sherry and you're in the room where William is attacking you from the ceiling, stand underneath the two large fans ( 1:09:27 It's where those black barrels are with the green hose/wire) next to the door where William pops out of to save steps. You'll be safe there. When he starts to go through the door, you can run past him. Set up next to the door when you see him banging on it and right before he's about to burst open, run at the entrance on the left side and you should be able to squeeze through. Can save a flash and health and steps. : )

U can also shoot with1 of your powerful weapons and shoot Williams claw when it comes through the roof. Run to the spot as mentioned before where u cant get hit, aim up, as soon as the claw comes through, shoot. Depending on which difficulty u r playing will determine if u need 1 shot or 2. It isn't just to shorten up the time it takes for William to smash his claw through the ceiling (I think he does it 5 times) but shooting the claw right away with like the flame grenade rounds, it lowers his HP so when u actually have to do the actual fight, his life is already down and if u keep shooting with flame rounds for example, the fire damage helps a shit ton, down him twice then hit the switch for the big case and it'll be a 1 hit kill and ill get a trophy. Using the flash gernade u get down there helps so as soon as u get down to the battle field area, hit the switch, pick up flash grenade, turn around and throw the flash grenade and start shooting till he is down, if u have a gernade u can throw it, Keep shooting till he is down again (if u time it right then u won't need to worry about him getting up again) then hit the switch and boom fights over. It took me a couple times to get this plan down to a T on hardcore and take no damage and get the fight over in like 1 minute and helps me save ammo. I don't pick up the smg or thr lightening hawk so its a good plan. I know lots of people use this type of plan so u can see KZbin videos of it done like this, and I post this for those who don't know about this particular way of dealing with William. Happy zombie hunting friends.

birkin reaches his hand through the ceiling 5 or 6 times (depending on how long he sticks his hand through each time and your game. it usually changes every two or three times you do the fight) so stand near the black barrels and after the fifth time he sticks his hand through stand by the door and make sure its on the left of the door and just keep holding the run button and run by him

1:32 Tip: You don't actually need to shoot any bullets towards the zombie in the gas station. As soon as the cutscene ends, run straight through the zombie as he's getting up and get the key. After that, turn around, wait a bit, he will stumble past you into a dead end, and you can run straight past him to the locked door.

1:30 - I'm sure most know this by now, but an even easier, no skill way to do this first zombie is t simply run by him as he is getting up (you can even run right in the middle of his body and get by him), and get the key, turn around, and watch him walk past your corridor. As he does that, you simply run to the locked door.

Thank you for the guide bud. It made getting the trophies a breeze! Lol. One quick tip for RPD parking garage area: if you use the diamond key on the room inside the gun range (when you're picking up the tin for the cop car trunk) you'll be able to discard it later. I believe same goes for the sewer crank when you're in the hallway where you pick up the rook plug. Might cost 20-30 extra steps but if you're low on space it should be fine. Thanks again

The problem with the sewer crank/tool is that you have to go into the waterway and it actually takes a good 100-200 steps. It's good for connecting the areas and discarding the tool, but if you're trying to do Frugalist and Small Carbon Footprint in one run, going those extra steps isn't really helpful. Then again, there's a lot of little tips and tricks you can do to cut down on steps (like not fighting any of the lickers and just walking passed them when possible), so if you really feel the need to open that last door and clear the sewer tool from your inventory, there's ways to make it all work out. Luckily though, if you do these records/achievements on assisted, you should be totally fine no matter what you do, so long as you're smart about the things that matter, like steps and space in your inventory.

I just completed this guide in a run step by step and other than a few RNG mishaps thst required resetting (which also resets your step count back to that save, confirmed) this guide accomplished what it set out to do. Thanks man, great vid to follow to get those trophies. For everyone: you can save your game, it doesn't count for any trophy, if you want to be carefull. For example, I had the worst RNG with Mr.X, on my a*s at every corner of the RPD... if everything goes too wrong, reload. ABOUT this vid, I followed it for the safe never opened and the 14000 steps (had already made a run without heal) and just so you know, at the end of the game, I was around 10k steps, so it's really easy to get it, it won't be a close call (at least if you follow this great vid ;) ). Last thing, you CAN SEE the NUMBER of STEPS : pause > challenge > press one time up to go to the bottom of the list and you will see, always up to date, your number of steps. Thx again!

@@doomerius1300 Random number generator. In short its "luck" but Basically it's how the game adjust the A.I. of the zombies/all enemies. If you play through a run and breeze by all enemies taking little to no damage that's good RNG. Then play the exact same run again and every enemy is super aggressive and grabs you/gets hits on you, that's bad RNG

you can just run past all of the dogs when you're going to the orphanage, I'm able to do it in standard so I'd expect it to work in assisted. It's really good for preserving ammo and is possibly safer than having to stand still to shoot them. I'm just giving advice to shorten the run even more, I am nowhere near as good as you man, great run!

Any tips on the Birkin Fights? stage 3 took 22 grenade rounds to kill and stage 4.... I emptied the mini gun (400 rounds) + 9 Grenade rounds and he still took a dozen handgun shots to finish off. and this was on assisted difficulty.... wtf???. is my gane bugged or am i doing something wrong???

@@benjaminsisko4519 With the stage 3 fight it's a better idea to use the pistol/smg on his eyeballs and just use the acid rounds to keep him away from you as it stuns him. On the stage 4 fight just try to shoot him when he is on the ground and not when he is climbing the walls so that all of the bullets hit him in the week points. Hope that helps.

I figured it was a case of shooting the big eyeballs, body hits seem to do minimal if any damage... seems to be the theme for all the G fights. need to practice my aim, not easy to target the eyes when your trying to run and evade at the same time.....

Benjamin Sisko Stage 3 you need to take out all his eyes twice. He’ll then turn a deeper red color, and grab the massive pillar and toss it. This is the point when you can unload on him and kill him.

Well the game has beaten me, It seems to have ramped up the difficulty to an impossible level. The enemies are significantly faster, there's no dodging or running past them, I get grabbed 100% every time. I unloaded 30 handgun shots into a zombie, and he barely even flinched, I put more than 100 smg rounds into a G-Monster and it didn't even phase it or expose its big eye. so now I'm pinned up against a brick wall with inefective weapons against enemies that will not die. and no way to progress.:(

Also, I heard that the cutscenes don't count on the timer and I think it's true, but my overall time was 2hours 8+minutes and I followed the guide step by step. I'm sure I was a bit slower but, more than 30 minutes?! So, not sure about all of the cutscenes.

Any cutscene that can be skipped doesn't add to the timer. Little things just add up over the course of the game. Similar thing happened to me when following a Hardcore S+ guide.

Cutscenes don't stop the timer. You need to skip them to get a better time. It sucks.

Thanks for watching guys. Many of you pointed out that you can check how many steps you have taken by going to the records area that is in the pause menu. I didn't know it was there or I would've mentioned it in the video, hopefully that allows you to check how you're getting on with the steps. Wouldnt leon be easier? He gets the flamethrower which makes the veggie zombies very easy. The magnum is also great for bosses.

Yes and no; the last boss for Leon can be hard dodge due to the small space and the debris blocking your way.

@@michaelalberto9846 nah, he easy with grenades and magnum. You can kill G3 with shotgun and knife. Claire wastes a lot of acid rounds on the veggie zombies, or a lot of time if you pop each weak point with SMS.

@@squalltheonly At that time I didn't know about the grenade strategy. However, both characters are the same difficulty if you know your way around. Plus shooting only 1 bulb in the Ivy Zombie is enough to get past it. I couldn't understand the DPS/mechanic for the acid rounds. Imo, for the bosses, it doesn't do as much damage as the flame rounds but it does slow them down.

@@michaelalberto9846 I used the acid/flame/acid/flame strategy on G3 for this run... Acid does minimal damage but staggers it, while flame does the real DPS... Took about 7-8 of each to end the fight... What I liked about it is that you pause G3 with acid rounds just long enough to relocate, fire a flame round, reload an acid round, stagger it again and repeat the process... So, instead of reloading with square, I just hit R1 to switch ammo... Never got near it to shoot its eyes or try to knife it, kept the fight safe... The only downside to it was that I was down to my last few handgun bullets vs G4... But G4 is not as bad as G3, so I managed... lol

A very good guide. Some easy improvements available, as you said yourself, but overall a nice run. I’d thought I’d do ”frugalist” and ”a small carbon print” separately, but thanks to you I realised I can easily do them in the same run :)

@@AD-pe4nz you can do it, but not the way most PC users do. I have the PC version, but i'm capped at 60fps so i also do not have the luxury that most pc runners have. I botched the run, but I managed to beat G1 with 2 knives and the grenade. Strafed around him with first knife, let him grab me & stabbed with the knife, threw a grenade when he was about to chase, strafed around him once more with the knife until he went down. I think it's still kinda risky and i probably just got lucky to not get hit, but i took no damage and used none of my gun ammo.

I think it's just a replacement for the "under 3 hours" achievement that Resident Evil games usually have. It's basically the same thing. What's really annoying is that the game doesn't tell you how many steps you take :/. *edit* Many of you guys pointed out that you can check the steps in the records menu, hope that helps some of you know where you're at with the steps.

@@IFreeMz Pause > Records > scroll all the way to the very bottom. While you can use it to gauge if that trophy is within your grasp when you've beaten 70-80% of the game, it's not particularly useful early on. Also, that trophy's relatively easy on Claire B (2nd Run). Especially if you're going for a Hardcore S Rank run or something like that. That's how exactly I got mine, naturally unlocked it while doing my Claire B Hardcore S Rank run.
