To prepare for her role, Sienna Guillory actually bought a PlayStation 1 Console and a copy of the game to study the Jill Valentine character. She also based her movements of Jill by watching the way Jill moved in the game Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999). The movie uses elements of the plots of Resident Evil 2 (1998) and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999). The dogs were not computer-generated. Just like with the first film make-up was applied to them, though it also proved troublesome to train the dogs to not kick off the makeup and prosthetic The character of Dr. Ashford is named after the Ashford family of the Resident Evil game series. However, unlike the sympathetic film character, the Ashfords of the games were villains. Although the word "zombie" is never used in the film, it is featured in the ending credits. German comedian Tom Gerhardt who portrayed the infected father in the gate closing sequence, is credited as "zombie dad". All other zombies are credited as "undead". at around 1h 10 mins) In the ending fight, the words "Finish him" are used, this is straight from the Mortal Kombat games, Paul W.S. Anderson also directed the Mortal Kombat (1995) movie. Sienna Guillory is a natural blonde. To play the brunette Jill Valentine, she had to dye her hair a dark brown. Michelle Latimer's debut. Nikolai is one of villains in Resident Evil: Nemesis. However he is portrayed as a hero. Mikhail from the games is replaced by original character Yuri. Oded Fehr is of Israeli descent, however, Carlos Oliviera is Brazilian (His ethnicity is ambiguous but rumoured to be Pardo or Native Brazilian. His surname is Portugese.) The cement truck that smashed into the umbrella SUV is like the cement truck in resident evil 3 the video game At the beginning that separated Jill and Leon When the group escapes the building after Alice's showdown with Nemesis, former Evanescence drummer Rocky Gray is one of the undead in the mob that storm the rooftop right before the missile hits. (at around 8 mins) The newspaper with the headline "The Dead Walk!" is an homage to George A. Romero's Day of the Dead (1985), in which exactly the same newspaper headline was displayed. Oded Fehr had little difficulty in playing a character so familiar with handling guns - he was trained in the Israeli army. at around 39 mins) "STARS" is the only word ever spoken by the Nemesis, it's also the only word he ever speaks (repeatedly) in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999). The suit for Nemesis weighed in excess of 60 pounds. Stuntman Matthew G. Taylor could only stay in it for periods of up to 15 minutes before it got too hot. As in the first film, the zombies were mainly all professional dancers. They attended an "undead boot camp" where two of the cardinal rules were no dragging feet and no outstretched arms. The word Biohazard appears many times in the movie. This is a reference to the Japanese versions of the games. In Japan the series of games is called Biohazard.

This the closest Resident Evil movie base on the games plot from RE2-RE3 with some elements of Code Veronica with the exclusion of the new Resident Evil movie coming out but this the only other movie besides the first one that is survival horror like the original Resident Evil games my dislikes of the franchise they bring in characters from the games but they play little roles cause Alice is the main character and Paul W.S. Anderson wife but however I do like the callbacks from RE2-RE3 with the cemetery scene a callback from RE3 Nemesis, Alice stopping in a gun store a callback to RE2 and the part where Alice drops her gun and grab it before it hit the ground a callback to Code Veronica.

I'll say this is the one, Alice kinda started getting on my nerves. The first movie, I was fine with her, mostly because there wasn't that many characters from the game. This one, specially if you're throwing in Jill Valentine, nope, Jill being second fiddle to Alice shouldn't have been the case. And you're right, all throughout RE3, Nemesis, all he says is "Stars!" He's a 1 track killing machine, and him turning face, no, that doesn't work for me either.

This one had the most fun with the source material established at the time. But with this movie a dissappointing trend became apparent that would continue through the rest of the series. In movies you can only adapt so many of the enemies and monsters from the games. The ONLY new thing in Apocalypse was Nemesis. Dogs, lickers and, of course zombies were in the first movie. And each movie only added one or two new things.

What is this madness? Better than the first? Hell no. The first one is an actual solid believeable, atmospheric, bullet counting survival horror with a sick soundtrack and a unique enough story with parallels to Alice in Wonderland. Every line of dialogue in Apocalypse is pure cringe. The martial arts and zombie conbo is a ridiculous pairing. Yes, the first had that, but not to this maddening of a degree. The plot is so aimless the Nemesis is a joke. Even the action sequences suck and aren't unique. Literally 3 times characters shielded themselves from an explosion with an unconventional item the exact same way. It's literally a parody of a film. I'm ashamed we share the same name.

This movie has always been a bit of a fan favorite as far as the Paul Anderson RE movies go, but there's something about it that I've always struggled to connect with. Yes, it has a lot of references to the various games, but quite honestly I don't think that it does as good of a job of nailing that horror tone as the first movie. RE:Apocalypse almost comes across as if it is trying too hard but without ever really hitting the target. As much as it tries to be non stop action, I actually find it to be a bit boring. Nemesis looks great but I distinctly remember watching this in theaters and feeling that it was way too action oriented to be a proper Resident Evil movie. Maybe I'm not the target audience, but when I watch this movie, I get this sense that I am watching a film that was intended for 14 year olds who are perfectly happy to see one dumb action scene after another with a few winks and nods to the game. I watched it on DVD not long ago and my thoughts haven't really changed. It's not my least favorite of this franchise, but it's not a favorite either.
@Xehanort103 жыл бұрын
8:32 Originally the origin of the T-Virus in the films was that Charles Ashford made it to stop his daughter Angela ending up in a wheelchair like he did. But in the Final Chapter they change it to the film version of James Marcus trying to find a cure for the disease killing his daughter Alicia who Alice is retconned into being a clone of.

Nicholai in the film is nothing like Nicholai either. In the games he's a cold hearted Umbrella supervisor trying to collect combat data from the UBCS and Jill's fights with the monsters and kills every other supervisor in the city so he could get more money. But in Apocalypse he's a good guy trying to help Carlos save civilians.

I still think the first one is best. It was never meant to be a direct adaptation of the games. Paul W.S. Anderson wanted to tell a story in the universe and, in that, I felt it succeeded. It seemed much more confident than this one. Even in its prime, Apocalypse always looked low-budget, borderline Straight-to-video. Nemesis looks fake as hell, and it has always bothered me that the shots of zombies moving was always 10 FPS and blurry. It’s like they were ashamed of their costume and makeup work. Feels like the general consensus regarding the first movie was, “it’s not like the games, it sucks,” so their response was to shoehorn as much content and characters from the games that it felt phoned in. Jill doesn’t talk or act like Jill, for example, so are they implying that merely dressing someone as, and naming them after, an iconic character is all it takes to satisfy us? It’s like they didn’t give a shit and passive-aggressively threw this hot garbage at us. Now to clarify, I don’t hate Apocalypse. In fact I think it’s the best sequel in the franchise. However, when you start looking at the later sequels, that seems less complimentary.

Great content, but I don't like any of these sequels, the first was decent, not amazing but not bad, overall I think they got Nemisis wrong here, in the remake and original he's like a Terminator but more feral, he can have moments of rage and run at Jill, here he's a boring generic zombie soldier with to many weapons, and he looks weird in terms of his height and stature... the thing that topped it off for me was the fist fight with Alice, it was like the director and producer wanted a WWE face off lol, it has two moments I liked, the church before Alice shows up, and the destruction of Racoon, that was done well, if I had to choose a sequel over this, I'd probably pick the one in the underground base tbh... but I prefer the original even if it is a 7/10 film.

This is my favorite and after this the rest get pretty boring to me, like I like them enough to watch them every once in a while, but this one makes me excited to watch. I even dressed up as Alice and my best friend dressed up as Jill on Halloween one time. I love the games as well and while it would have been nice if it was closer to the games, I still love the story and tend to think of it as kind of an alternate universe type thing. But I don't consider the movies "canon," I only consider the games "canon," the movies are their own thing. As for Nemesis, I LOVED HIM in this, him and Pyramid Head from Silent Hill are by far my favorite monsters and by far my favorite movie adapted monsters too. I actually don't mind that Nemesis turns good, just because it's clear that, like I said, the movies don't follow the same canon, so in this world, there's the theme that the bioweapons can temporarily fight the programming and regain control (Alice does it constantly). So it makes sense that Nemesis/Matt would be able to do it too, but clearly he had no where near as much control as Alice does and it makes sense to me that the thing that could get through to him and give him the strength to temporarily regain control, would be someone he knew and cared about: Alice. So basically, in the games, a bioweapon is simply a weapon, there is no fighting it and you can't "get through" to them, because there's nothing to get through to. But in the movies, the bioweapons retain a bit of their humanity and if they're strong enough to resist the control, they can break out of it, at least temporarily. So yeah, in terms of the movie's rules and "canon," I love that Nemesis turns good again, because to me, it makes logical sense, BUT if they had stuck with all the same rules and followed the canon of the games, then still turned him good, then I'd be mad, if that makes sense. Anyway, yeah, Nemesis is my favorite, in both the games (was a teeny tiny disappointed by him in the remake, simply because to me, he's supposed to be scarier than Mr. X and he was no where near as cool and scary as Mr. X in the RE2 remake, so Mr. X overshadowed him, lol) and the movie. "S.T.A.R.S" (in Nemesis's voice, lol) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I liked this one weaker than the first my big problem is I don't like the super Alice idea the whole making her a superhero doesn't work for me. My problem is I liked the first one as its own thing as a B Horror zombie action film this one is more just a B action film with a superhero not into it as much. I found this one just alright I didn't mind Carlos or Jill and found both actors enjoyable enough. If you like this franchise it's because you like Millia this series is all dedicated to her.

Gonna have to disagree. I think this movie is total garbage. I despised the original but this one is way worse. I never watched any of the sequels after this. They made Nemesis a complete joke by having Alice beating him in a fistfight. Humanizing him takes away the whole idea that he is this unrelenting inhuman monster. How anyone can enjoy this movie is beyond me. But I'm glad it entertained someone at least.
