Why is the mutated Rachael a foot taller?

The original, natural variant of T-Abyss virus was originate in very deep water and it mutate animal in infected to better survives the crushing pressure. Mutated Rachel and all ooze zombies probably inflated just like when deep sea fishes go up to the surface level. But because the mutation strengthen their body structure they don't gradually die like those fishes.
