This game is close to my heart. THIS is THE game that got me into gaming. When I was super young I would come over to my grandmas and she was playing this game on the PS1. I remember her being like "where in the hell is the serum" and then coming back to Richard and he was dead. She used to love these games, but her favorites were definitely the final fantasy ones. I bet she would love your channel, I should recommend it to her sometime haha.

i think the whole 'not having enough ammo' thing really comes from knowing the location of every item. for someone playing this for the first time in the 90s, it's very likely they didn't find everything, and had significantly less. i have a pretty vivid memory of playing through claire's story in RE2 and running out of ammo in the sewers / lab. but yeah, if i play it now, i can end any playthrough with 200 pistol shots, dozens of grenades, etc. just something to consider.
@karenamyx2205 Жыл бұрын
Is this why people also claim the remakes have more ammo? It's not really true. By the time I met marvin in OG I had 80 handgun bullets. In RE2R I only had like 20.. But! Like you said, it could be item location. RE2R has a map that's red until you get all items. Way easier to 100% items.

I think the music isn't really bad, it's just that the music seems to have been composed without consultation with the actual sound designer who was in charge of implementing it in the game and choosing the appropriate synth libraries. Basically if it had better orchestral library or was even recorded live, the music would sound much better.
@kalelvigil15102 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. The intra music does not fit the scene at all, but it's an incredible piece of music. In fact a lot of these are great pieces of music that just were not synthed correctly

I had the duel shock version growing up, had no idea the music wasn't supposed to totally suck. Funny thing is, I had the regular version of RE2, where the duel shock was the GOOD version because it had lots of extra game modes and whatnot. So basically I got the worst version of each without even realizing it.
@ResistEntropy Жыл бұрын
I actually finished my first ever playthrough of this game yesterday. I was so surprised at how well it still plays - you hear a lot about how the original has aged terribly and the remake completely displaces it, and while I assumed that was the case... it really wasn't. It's easy to pick up and play still. And I like how weirdly tacky and vibrant the mansion is in the original, it gives it a completely different vibe than the more conventionally scary environments in re1make that is still weird and unsettling in its own right. Really glad I gave it an honest shot, I think it still has a lot of merit in its own right besides the historical value.

31:00 I don't get why Capcom wouldn't release a remaster of this with everything from every version in it. It wouldn't be that hard to polish up the graphics/sound, put the original music in, put in all costumes, put in the automatic weapons from the PC, put in the tick monsters/battle mode from the Saturn version. Make certain zombies special one offs like the cerebus keeper, Martin Crackhorn, and John Clemens.
@tokiwartooth44042 ай бұрын
Everything you mentioned is profitable DLC content to today's Capcom. That's your "remaster." Biorand has the game remastered ready to go with a basic upgrade mod or the HD backgrounds upgrade. The basic package upscales character models. All you have to do is download it, and save your money for more critically important things in life like inflation that never ends. Biorand will add random named characters as zombies. It could be any character basically. Sheva maybe. Carlos. Wesker zombies. You can then play this game as Barry by choosing him with the randomizer. Or play as Wesker. Maybe you want to go around as Jim Chapman from Outbreak in RE1? Can you do that in the RE1R? Not without mods if they even exist. Then you can customize the music or make it totally random with tracks from RE2 or even RE7. I need to check out the RE1 Biorand version to see if it has this Battle Mode you speak of. Sadly it does not. Only New Game or Load Game. I know Biorand RE2 has the Battle Mode and Gallery. You want tick monsters? Add them in with the randomizer settings to randomly replace Hunters or whatever they replace. It's the Chimera enemy correct? Not sure. But I found Chimera is a standard enemy in RE1 Biorand settings. You could turn off all other enemies and have Chimeras only if you really wanted to. I know they show up in my RE2 Biorand runs and they replace the Ivy plant enemy. For battle mode you're stuck with Saturn emulation I guess. Biorand is more fun than pre-set battle mode to me IMO.

Funny seeing the comments from people that first played the Dual Shock version and had no idea that the soundtrack was 100% different. That was exactly my experience. It wasn't until three years later, when Capcom released the Biohazard Sound Chronicle collection in 2005 that I realized that I'd been listening to a different version of the original tunes - I'd even played Remake in 2002 and right after I played the Dual Shock edition, and I just assumed the remake changed all the songs up!

1:26:14 Resident evil 2 og on dreamcast arrange mode "nightmare" is the difinitive difficulty for re2 og. Zombies take 15-25 bullets to put down. Everything kills you in a few hits. 1/3 less ammo. 2 ink ribbons vs 3. There are crits, but they are random. Leon is easy because of the shotgun still being able to decapitate, so you have to save the machine gun and pouch for claire. Bowgun is the only thing with stopping power. Its a good playthrough. I do think re1 arrange is more difficult because of the ammount of enemies and tighter areas, but nightmare is still challenging with birkin taking way more ammo to take down.

In 2014, a friend of mine invited me over to his place for the first time. This guy and I have both been video game enthusiasts since the early 90s. The guy even has a complete, perfectly preserved Pokemon TCG collection. When I showed up, I found out that he lives in a rather large manor with a spacious yard and everything. He opened the door and said "make yourself at home." I blurted out, "wow, what a mansion!" He stared at me awkwardly. I assumed he had played Resident Evil. He never did. I eventually explained that it was a quote, and we're still good friends, but I'm embarrassed about it to this day.

It is absolutely incredible how little *most* of the music fits. Like, at all. To put my Music Enjoyer™️ hat on for a second, the dissonant, chaotic nature of a lot of the tunes isn’t an inherent flaw, and there is an audience for it (I do like some of it), but so much of it is such a mismatch for the tone, vibe, general aesthetic... just, everything about RE. Sometimes a weird musical approach can serve a product and enhance the experience, but this has always stood out like a sore thumb as awkward and jarring even before the supposed composer was outed as a fraud. There are a few tracks that, at least
