I'm still so confused by the series. You could easily have had Milla Jovovich as a more than passable Jill Valentine and just ran with the story of the series as is, and.. Just.. We got this instead. It's a shame, because in terms of horror I'd almost have preferred early-career Anderson (like Event Horizon) to someone like George Romero, but I don't know if he just got a little goofy over how hot his wife is and needed to wax lyrical about that for six films while putting her in increasingly fetishy outfits, but holy shit, did this series go off the rails fast.

She's practically parasitic in how she just takes away the aura of life from other pre-established characters that deserve to be in the spotlight. But do you know what is the most damning aspect of this? At this point in this incoherent, fraudulent mess of a franchise, almost everyone that we all love is dead! Think about it. Where is Jill? Chris Redfield? Leon? Ana Wong? Motherfricking Barry? They're dead! No obituary, no tears shed, not even a moment to recount their lives, connections, or even purposes. They are just disposable tools in the "Alice I z cewl" army. Fuck Alice, the director, the horrible writing, and this mindless, style-over-substance, incoherent, Frankenstein piece of shit ripoff of the Matrix this franchise has become... ...in my opinion, at least.

Why is it so hard to have a female main character who is actually interesting? I'd be more engaged watching white untoasted bread depict Alice- and write her character- than Anderson and Jojovich's portrayal of her. Why does she have to be so bland, so unrelatably cool and perfect, that she can barely manage a facial expression? I'd say she was overly sexualized, too, but she's so boring they couldn't even accomplish that. And of course this blank slate of a human being gets to overshadow ever other character, and as an audience we're not even given time to mourn their inevitable deaths because we wouldn't want any digressions from The Alice Show, would we?

@tinazlk88544 жыл бұрын
Because those idiots think that putting a gun on a female character hands, doing one liners and being mary sue'ish equals a good written character. A strong female character isn't necessarily someone with a weapon, or a mighty goddess who does no wrong or someone in a position of power. It could be someone apparently frail, it could be someone emotional, kind, or anything that isn't the typical stone cold cardboard that frequently gets packed in action movies. Unfortunately, there is a lot of producers and other people who work on the industry whom think that written anything that isn't like this Mary "Alice" Sue kind of character will alienate the audience since they want both male(??? - Yeah, I don't get it) and female audiences to identify(??? - How would anyone identify with a annoying perfect character?) with her. So the movies with a good female main character are rare.

@@brianaguilar8283 Last Jedi is open to interpretation whereas Resident Evil movies have direct lines of dialogue that contradict each other. 1. Racoon City is vaporized by nuke. Dr. Issacs was an underling of Wesker except Wesker is a hitman used by Issacs to kill Dr. Marcus. The biggest "plot holes" in Star Wars sequels (minus the Palpatine plot hole) involve alternate interpretations of lore. For example... 1. The space ship battle between the Resistance and the 1st Order. 2. Kylo Ren's motivations for betraying his uncle Luke. Also unlike Alice, Rey has needed help to avoid capture and has been defeated before. A. Rey needed Finn to help fly the Falcon to escape. B. Rey needed Han to help repair the Falcon. C. Rey was captured by Kylo Ren D. Kylo Ren held back during their fight in order to capture her and groom her as his student. E. You know what Phelous, despite everything you point out in this movie. There are STILL tons of other problems that this movie has that you haven't covered (but you covered enough, just save yourself). It's unbelievable how fucked up this movie is, it absolutely out of this world how this even got the greenlit. `1. 9:17 Alice was actually drinking contaminated water despite saying the virus dry up lakes, and even if it didn't, she SHOULD know it infect them. Since that zombie popped up, she has a healthy dose of the T-virus and zombie blood, guts, poop, and piss, and no, she didn't bother to vomit it all out. 2. Resident Evil that had great scares as this (kzbin.info/www/bejne/h33UqX9uerOYgJY) has now at it's desperate attempt to have a printer jump scare 10:33 almost as dumb as the poptart scare in SH:Revelations, and just as pointless. Why didn't the Red Queen just turn on the monitors to talk to her instead of surprising her is just retarded, along with not warning her before hand that a zombie was in the room (who for some reason made no sound). 3. This movie honestly wants you to look at you dead in the face honestly and pretend that this the first time a anti-virus was created. Even Alice doesn't even question how different this viral is compared to the previous ones. 4. 13:02 So...Wesker had the right opportune moment to kill Alice in that office with nobody around and could've dash to her the same way and stab her neck the same way with a knife, but instead gave her the T-virus? 5. Well, Alice did expect a trap, she just didn't look around hard enough (which is still very stupid), my real problem goes this, why did the umbrella soldiers decided to fight her and their asses killed when all they could've done was let her get stunned by that bike and THEN capture her/kill her? These soldiers are the biggest morons that somehow survived in this apocalypse. 6. 20:16 HE HAD ONE JOB. 7. Why was Alice having a hard time dealing with the clone Issacs with no abilities or special techniques? Even without her powers, she still has super speed, strength, accuracy, and agility. She even manage to beat Nemesis. Why the fuck is THIS guy giving her a hard time 20:43? 8. You know, despite Alice cutting Issacs hand off, how was she able to operate the bike again after she got off it to see the destruction of Raccoon City? Did this movie just forgot that rule already? 9. Alice: It's Umbrella, Dr. Issacs Claire: I thought you killed him. How does Claire even know who Issacs is, let alone that Alice killed him. Not even Alice knew who Issacs was til the end of Extinction. And she never bother telling Claire in Afterlife because she was suffering through amnesia. 10. Wesker still hasn't closed down the hive. 11. 28:36 That.."guy"...was recently bitten by the Cerberus and died. And I shit you not within SECONDS not only did he turned into a zombie, but he was about to caught up to Alice AT THE DOOR, and there was never a shot of him being right behind them.

The constant shaky cam and quick cuts makes the experience even harder to sit through, plus majority of it is in the dark which only worsens things. If anything, this was on par with Uwe Boll's Alone in the Dark, only with more padding and contradictory writing. And even worse action.

+Darek Baird I actually really liked those movies, Damnation especially. While I thought Degeneration was alright, Damnation was a major improvement and something I would happily watch again. Anderson _Resident Alice_ movies.
@sachikiriyama67057 жыл бұрын
So I recently saw Resident Evil: Vendetta, and it was a lot better than I expected. Not only did it have a much more coherent plot, but it had better action, and the characters were more likable than Alice (sure, it's not exactly a high enough bar to set, but it's still pretty good compared to those movies) plus the movie has better pacing, as opposed to The Final Chapter, which painfully drags for far too long. And it's an enjoyable movie even without the license.

I swear Paul WS Anderson *tried* to makes this series' plot as incoherent and discontinuous as possible. Not helped by the fact that it hasn't really had anything to do with the games since the second or third one. But they were really successful at the international box office, so I guess that justifies making six of them!

Holy shit, this is shockingly incompetent. It literally looks like a SyFy Channel movie at this point. The electric shock she gets on the motorcycle is something that 80's movies look at and say, "That's sad", while the muddy visuals, and zoomed-in/quick cut/shakycam action scream Asylum. Why doesn't Asylum rip off these movies with their infamous "Mockbusters"; they have a pretty good chance of actually being better than the Hollywood movie in this case. SyFy's "Citizen Evil" would honestly be at least as good as this shit, lol.

I can't even fathom how you end up with a movie franchise like this. It's such a mess. When you watch these movies with a long waiting times in between movies, it might not be so bad, but when you watch them back to back and keep track of character motivations and actions to achieve their goals, you end up with a completely incoherent mess that puts even the Disney Star Wars sequels to shame. This franchise literally has Wesker trying to kill Alice, followed by an entire movie dedicated to Wesker trying to help Alice and the very next movie has him trying his best to get rid of her again. And there is no explanation why he flip-flops so hard. And this isn't even the worst aspect of this movie franchise.

I thought I had missed the part of the story where they say the last remaining humans will cease to exist in 48 hours. Thought maybe that it was all the frozen rich people we see later on, but that wasn't it. They keep bringing it up, the count down to the death of all these people. Are they being held at gun point? How are they all of a sudden going to die? To quote screen rant, "Doesn't matter, the movie needs to happen..so I'm gonna need you to get all the way off my back about that"

Megan Charpentier had outgrown the role of the Red Queen, which she previously played in Resident Evil: Retribution (2012), and was recast with Milla Jovovich and Paul W.S. Anderson's real life daughter Ever Anderson in her feature film debut. Filming was originally scheduled to start in Fall 2013 for a September 12, 2014 release date. Filming was delayed when Milla Jovovich became pregnant with her second child. Bingbing Li was due to reprise her role as Ada Wong but had to leave production before shooting started because she had committed to another movie in China. The outfit that Claire Redfield, Ali Larter's character, wears is the same outfit that was worn by Claire Redfield in the game Resident Evil: Revelations 2 (2015). Milla Jovovich is the only actor to appear in every single film of the series. Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Iain Glen, and Shawn Roberts are the only actors to reprise their roles from previous installments. The film came out on January 27, 2017, three days after the release of the new installment of the video game series, Resident Evil VII: Biohazard (2017). Many actors from previous movies were not invited to return for this movie, including: Sienna Guillory, Bingbing Li, Aryana Engineer, Spencer Locke, Michelle Rodriguez, Wentworth Miller, and Johann Urb. First movie in the series not to feature any songs. When Alice is driving to Racoon City, there's a brief shot of a Rayden bobble head from Mortal Kombat on the dashboard. Mortal Kombat is director Paul Anderson's first video game film adaptation. Feature film debut of TV Personality Rola. The subplot with Claire's boyfriend Doc being revealed to be a spy working for Umbrella after he betrays Alice is based on a similar subplot found in the game Resident Evil: Revelations 2 (2015). During filming in South Africa, an improperly secured Humvee slid off of a rotating platform, crushing crew member Ricardo Cornelius against a wall. He was rushed to the hospital and placed on life support, but he died a few hours later. It was the film's second on-set accident, and the only fatal one. The film is dedicated to his memory.

How much it will suck is the million dollar question though.

There are good movie game adaptation, Warcraft, Street Fighter II the animated movie, the first Mortal Kombat and Silent Hill Movie, Dofus (you probably don't know this one, it's a french animated movie based on a french mmorpg, and it's great, go see it if you have a chance, it's like a Myazaki and JK Rowling son's) Heck, they are even non-official great movie game adaptation, Shutter Island is a better Silent Hill movie than the Silent Hill Movie, Speed Racer is a great Mario Kart Movie, Logan is a nice Last of us movie, and Pirates of the carribean was supposed to be a Monkey Island movie at one point (a cancelled animated movie with the same Writters who've juste recycle their plot for the Poc movie and Spielberg at the production). @@RenaldyCalixte I liked the first film too. Apocalypse was decent, not great, but I enjoyed it well enough. At least it actually continued the story from the previous film and didn't retcon it entirely. Maybe it's because in the first two films they were still trying to follow the overall arc (with how the T-virus outbreak first started in the Arklay facility and then spread to Raccoon City) from the games, so they had a bit of that continuity to lean up against. Extinction was when the series went completely off the rails and I finally gave up on it.

Kind of tired of the "anyone who dislikes this movie is just parroting" shit. Yeah, right. Because that statement is itself original and not something every fan of this film goes to as a saving throw against the indignity of having something you like criticized by someone else. It's fine if you like it. I don't accuse you of being a zombie for liking something I don't. Hey, maybe you DO see something I don't in it. BvS ultimate is still shit. Now it's 30 minutes longer and shit. Has its moments, but the direction still strikes me as trying too hard to make you think every moment is huge and meaningful. And the Martha thing cannot be ignored. It's the moment the movie hinges on. It's the turning point. It's functionally the most important scene in the movie, the moment where the story takes a turn away from these characters seeing each other as threats and instead seeing each other as human beings. But honestly, I don't mind it that much. If that were the film's only major problem, I wouldn't dislike it. I can think of tons of cringey stuff that appears in really good movies. This was just a cringey cherry on top of an already shit movie. Snyder seems interested in exploring the humanity of these characters. Starting from Man of Steel that appears to be what he's trying to do/ I'm not exactly sure why he fails at that, but given the pacing of most of his scenes, it's really hard to explore humanity when every moment is trying to be larger than life. There were one or two scenes in BvS that felt like some of what he was trying to do leaked out, but they're usually truncated. And yes, I'm aware that I'm not saying anything new. There really isn't anything new to say about the movie--for OR against it. You like it. That's okay. It's not like "The movie is fine and everyone criticizing it is just parroting" is a unique opinion I've never heard before. It's not like everyone who liked the movie is some unique snowflake and everyone who hated it is a hivemind. Making that defense makes you look like a child. Most of what I had to say about the movie are the thoughts I had after walking out of it, and the Ultimate edition didn't change that. Cleared up some plot holes, sure. But my issues with it weren't the plot holes. It was pacing, framing and characterization that didn't ring true for me. But it's okay if you like it. Just don't be a little bitch about it.

This movie is like Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension. It's supposed to be the finale, it's the worst in the entire series, and it's full of contradictions.
