@@kingsodashark2194 Artistically, it’s a huge step backwards to turn a video-game that you can interact with into a movie that you’re forced to just sit there and watch unfold. The first few games in the 90s broke the mould because people hadn’t really experienced horror in video games before, and definitely not in such a cinematic fashion. Videogames can’t be good movies because they’re a victim of their own success eg. The RE2 remake is already the perfect cinematic experience all on its own and it doesn’t patronise its audience the way this film does. The reason video game movies keep getting made isn’t to try make a good film. It’s just that studios see the benefit of using readily identifiable brand names to do some of the marketing for them.

at 0.01 You see the Camera work of the future ( On top of emulating the dark, rainy atmosphere of the game, Roberts wanted to play with the camera angles as they operated in the game, using what he calls the "around-the-corner style of storytelling." ) Claire on a motorcycle in a scene. and than that Truckdriver in another scene. This may be “another video game movie”. However, I give a lot of credit for trying to tell the main story of both games and cuing the main source material from both RE and RE2. I mean they even kept the movie in the 90s and did some nostalgia for general audiences which I get. It was definitely more tolerable than others in this sub genre. Those are the least of its issues, and I haven’t even seen the full film. I exited the cinema shortly after this bit when Chief Irons tries to drive away in some awkward, bumpy, annoying scene which ends in the same place it started. I didn't mind the actor's casting for Leon at first, because I always found him to be a hypnotizing actor in the few things I saw him in. I’ll give credit where credit is due Johannes Roberts and his writers were keeping it faithfully to the video games source material and I bet he wanted to make 3 individual movies. But I bet the studio was like no we want everything In one movie, that doesn’t really work. Everything is now rush and when you do that things really don’t make sense anymore.
