Let’s remember the director actually had something interesting and really similar to the games, but the studio didn’t wanna risk it so he had to rewrite his script more than 2 different times while they were shooting the film. Their was more interesting story and characters that where gonna be added(monsters as well) to the film, theirs concept art on twitter and early drafts. Just really sucks how they went with this one instead or something better.

Constantin/Screen Gems want to cash-in the *RE2remake success* circa 2019 during pre-production, 2. *Budget cuts* by SONY who didn't want to fund the film, as they don't have faith (which followed by..), 3. *Pandemic lockdown* caused the movie to change their shooting location to less crowded area to avoid risk (from big city to just smaller town suburbs). In short, these are a perfect recipe for box-office failure of the year. Edit: Tl;dr , Constantin/Screen Gems suck!

They were probably setting him up to be our Leon in future films. When Iron tells Leon to 'get a haircut' it could be a way of foreshadowing that Leon does get a haircut in future adaptions and becomes more battle hardened. Just a theory tho, idk

Donal Logue is usually great at delivering lines. I feel like he agreed to do this before he saw the script and just wanted to leave as soon as possible. The captain leaving the station was really Donal Logue escaping this terrible movie.

I haven't seen him in any other work but I thought his acting was pretty good, especially compared to the wooden acting of the younger actors around him. He does a good job at playing a unlikable, wise-cracking prick. It's the script that sucks.

I don't hate this movie like everyone else, I see some potential here. Had they just focused on RE1 instead of mashing the first two games together I can definitely see it working. Also if they hadn't shit all over Claire and Leon that too would have helped.

No joke, compared to the other Resident Evil movies, this one kinda slaps. It sucks in a lot of ways(LOOKING AT YOU LEON 0:22) but at least they had more than 1 of the video game characters in it or less like a lot of the other movies. The whole Wes Anderson series was so disjointed, off topic, and spitballed that they aren't even really Resident Evil movies. I like Wesker, Chris, and the whole police team. Jill was funny even if she didn't look like Jill at all. The settings, gunplay, and effects were excellent and really reminded me of the games(and revolvers actually hold a normal amount of ammo instead of being movie magicked) I'm looking forward to the next one. Hopefully they don't Wes Anderson it and kill half the characters off screen in the time-skip to the new movie.

​@BReal23Netflix's adaption of Resident Evil isn't a parody or comedy, it is categorized and marketed as a action horror film. Sure, it had some goofy scenes but its clear the movie was meant to be a "serious" adaption, just look at the trailer. If Netflix wanted to poke fun at the property, then they should have made it a comedy. People familiar with the games expect Leon to as brave, capable, intelligent, albeit a bit socially awkward as he was in Resident Evil 2 Remake (where this movie seems to take the most inspiration from). So when Netflix chooses to portray him as a goofy idiot, it tends to rub the wrong way. It's alright if they wanted to make Leon a bit goofy, but an idiot? How does a idiot survive a zombie apocalypse? In the adaption, Leon is a trained police officer but doesn't know how to use a rifle. He sleeps on the job. He talks like a common thug instead of a cop. He is regarded by the police chief as a moron. In the games, Leon graduated at the top of his class at the Police Academy. He specifically asked to be transferred to Raccoon City because of all the murders, which meant he cared about helping people. He wasn't a lazy, aimless cop like he is in this movie.
