Bruce I love your site, helpful tip for low pressure. After I changed all the 6 valves, unloader, pressure vale, checked everything I still had low pressure. Most over looked replacement for low pressure problems. Remove the high pressure hose from the PW, this high pressure hose is attached to the 3" high pressure pipe, remove this 3" pipe, now after removing pipe look back inside the pipe still attached to the PW, yes there it is "The Jet", unscrew the jet (screwdriver left), after the turning stops, you need to pull the jet out, not easy, what I did, I hooked the PW to the garden hose and the water pressure pushed it out, be careful not to lose the jet parts , (back jet, spring, front jet), small pin hole need to be cleaned out, also the jet may need to be replaced, this is where my problem was, worn jet, easy.... First of all , Thanks Bruce Today, I took my pump off in hopes of aluminum brazing with low temp alum brazing rods. I have a spraying leak on the pump threads where the brass soap inlet screws on the pump, so I had to strip the pump from all parts because I will be applying heat with a torch in order to braze the crack. First time trying this. Well Thanks to Your Tip on how to remove the check valves using the mounting bolts . I was able to take them out without damage. using the bolt. I think " someone " use to work for a telephone company. A pick stick or push down tool for jumper wires, and a cable splicers knife. Hmmm, wonder who that could be. LOL Great video my friend. I've got a pressure pump exactly like yours and it's on a Troy-Bilt 3,000 psi pressure washer that's been sitting for 7 years unused. I am just now exploring if the unit will work again or not. I won't find out until I get the new pressure hose for it so I can run the unit to see if it develops high high pressure water. Just a note: Troy-Bilt doesn't support the pressure washer saying it was built by Briggs and Stratton. I went to both websites and Briggs and Stratton said they never heard of the model number I have. It's going to be interesting if I have to rebuild my water pressure pump like you did and find any parts for it. Once again, thanks for a great video my friend.

You have not completely torn down the pump. There is a high pressure jet under the outlet tube which has very close tolerances and will stick closed if pump preservative is not used prior to storage. (waheller1 mentions this in his comment 10 months ago) When this jet sticks it gives the exact same symptom as what is shown in this video. This is a build of of pressure inside the pump which the unloader cannot releave. If allowed to continue for a few seconds it will blow out the check valves and damage the internal oring in the unloader. This jet oring must be replaced as it swells from the excess pressure and will not seat properly again. See AR pump parts breakdown to get part numbers of orings or you can buy a oring seal kit. Also the only nozzle you should use when setting pressure is the RED or straight stream nozzle. You should also use a guage to set pressure. Otherwise you cannot be sure of the pressure that is being set and can turn the pump into a bomb.

I’ve watched lots of these videos that fix no pressure, taking the pumps apart, checking hose, etc! Even brought it to a repair shop, they told me to scrap it as they’re basically a throw away inexpensive and easy to replace? The first thing you should check is the KEY WAY??????? After 3 weeks of screwing around, I unbolted the ENTIRE PUMP from the engine and discovered the KEY WAY had disintegrated!!!!!!! Had to polish the engine shaft as it was gouged. Once I removed the burrs from the shaft and the new pump assembly I bought would slide on, I greased the shaft, set the new key way in place and fit everything back together, PROBLEM SOLVED!!! Not one video on here showing that low pressures can and does occur if the KEY WAY has been ground off!!!!

What happens when that ball and spring are stuck in the bottom from hard water debris (and the ball doesn't move or actuate anything)? I picked up an almost brand new Troybilt 2500 washer that wouldn't build pressure. Disassembled the valve body, and removed all the plastic valves (now waiting on delivery of the replacements), but that ball was jammed in tight. Soaked it in penetrating oil for hours, then cleaned it out, and it would not budge. I then filled the whole inside of the valve body with Evaporust overnight. Washed all that out with HOT water, retreated it with penetrating oil (Tri Flo is my go to penetrating oil). Got the ball to finally come out with compressed air this morning. Yay me. Even recovered the spring on the floor that shot out with it before the garage trolls found it and hid it somewhere. I am hoping that thing being stuck was why the thing wasn't building pressure, as I didn't find any other problem in the valve body. Do you think that would cause it to not build pressure?

Bruce, you switched to torque wrench to get more torque, not more leverage 33:35, and I know you know the difference! 😉 Sorry - just my pet peeve about wrench monkeys using the word leverage when it’s actually torque. 😉🔧🔧🔧
@BrucesShop2 жыл бұрын
OK I wanted the bolt to be tighter. The torque wrench is longer than the ratchet so I grabbed it instead of getting a longer ratchet out of the tool box. The longer handle has more leverage on the 3/8 socket gives me more torque on the bolt. I can split hairs too.
@Rein_Ciarfella2 жыл бұрын
@@BrucesShop Sorry, but there’s no leverage involved at the time stamp I wrote. Leverage requires two things acting in a very specific way upon each other - a lever and a fulcrum. Everything you did at that specific point in time involved torque, a force rotating around a central axis. Yes, you increased torque by selecting a longer torque arm - that was obvious. You didn’t increase leverage because the function you performed was not leverage. I don’t consider this splitting hairs - by asking others to use correct terminology. I’m concerned that viewers may not understand the concepts involved in mechanical forces when incorrect terminology is used.

I believe any inaccuracies from using an extension would be so minor as to be irrelevant to most anything a consumer works on. Caterpillar and NASA require dead on accuracy for instance, Briggs and Stratton does not.
@mikejoyce37825 жыл бұрын
@@MrUbiquitousTech I'm thinking that using an extension for non-critical-low-torque is ok if just going for torque. The extension will just torque so far then it will "stiffen". If torqueing that requires degrees well than no extension.
