I grew up in western Pa. There was always a few guys with personal plow trucks that would volunteer their trucks and time to take care of secondary streets and the neighbors always had volunteers that would shovel people out of their driveways-for free cause it felt good to help the neighbors out. Man I couldn’t wait to grow up and get my own plow truck. I now have two of them.

Stay off the roads unless it's an emergency! The news reports are too sensational. They are so young, they don't know what they don't know. Do some research people you're missing out on so much history! Nothing new here. Lake effects snow has been blasting the Great Lakes area for thousands of years. The first time a child sees a large snowfall they learn fast to adapt. The following years, they are prepared. In today's world, they panic!!!

@kevinnielsen135615 сағат бұрын
It is a practical matter that side streets get plowed last. If the side streets and residential roads where to be plowed before the main roads, then there would be a traffic jam of stuck vehicles on the main roads. The premature introduction of heavy traffic on unplowed main roads would make sonw removal much more difficult.

When a hurricane hits and knocks out power do they say "gee, I think the local companies should have more electrical people on hand? " The city budgets for a reasonable number of drivers and trucks for 99% of our snowfalls. The state is sending in extra trucks. It's just that the snow coming down has been unrelenting. We get this kind of snowfall every 15 years. People just have short memories.
@katherinecollins963613 сағат бұрын
Well, if there are cars parked on the sides, it makes it difficult to plow. Don't they have a winter parking ban?
@briancelidonia82586 сағат бұрын
There are odd and even parking days. This generally works because the plows can clear most of the street one day and the rest of the street the next day. The problem is it came down so fast that people didn't have the ability to move their cars.

Erie needs to re think they're entire Amtrak approach. The station is dismal and well just sad. There is no place to park. There is no service what so ever, no busses, no trains, no cabs, no rides ANYWHERE from within the TWIN TIERS and its just GHETTO. Good lulck Erie but if you're going to be so completely isolated and in accessable and you have had years to do something to help the transportation systems across the twin tiers but youve NEVER DONE ANYTHING. So I dont feel sorry for Erie one bit, its a stupid city.
