This is BEAUTIFUL I work a lot in Acrylics on Tile I put my White or Black first all over the TILE Then I put my Pink or (whatever color I want) on the top of the background color while wet... I BLOW either with a big Straw or a Blow Dryer on the top color making flowers... Then I top coat it with the resin or Mod Podge Demential Magic if I don't want to use Resin. Hello, I read only a few of the comments...hoping I would not replicate another. I love your videos and work for all the stated reasons. The only thing about this video is the reflection of the white cabinet....made it hard to see what you were doing. When you shot (at the end) from above...it was 1000 more beautiful than what I saw with the reflection in it. Just thought I would share my thought on this. I am inspired to try this now....thank you!

Beverly Aten It depends on the tiles I get. I try to get the matt finish ones but if they are gloss I lightly score or sand and then clean thoroughly with alcohol. Check to see if your tiles have a coating of any sort because that will impact the grip the resin can get on the substrate.

thank you. That raging raspberry is stunning 😍 I bought that from a chinese ebay sight. It is a synthetic mica pigment. A quick google of "raging raspberry mica pigment" comes up with all the various sites its available.

The smaller 8x8" tiles fit in a standard square photo frame and hubby makes frames for the larger ones in the same style. Metal clips hold the tile inside the frame and hardware is attached to the back of the frames.

I was the same. I ordered a lot of different colours and then the different shades of my favourites and ended up with decades worth. LOL I just love colour and how they all interact. I found my straps with mica and pigment powders and I am coming back to them and incorporating them in the new works.

This has to be one of my most favorites of your videos! I am super excited to try resin art. I have never tried it, but you've inspired my internal art bug that's been itching for creativity. What advise would you give someone trying this for the very first time?

Start small, have a plan, be organised with all the lids off everything, keep a timer on as you only have 25-30 minutes to work with,.stay clean...... resin gets everywhere and most important stay safe. If you get resin on you clean it off immediately, never touch your face

The pigment pastes are by an Australian company and the brand name is “Artisue”. This is a pigment paste that is specifically designed for epoxy resin and the black gives a wonderful coverage.

Most of the epoxy resins I use are dry to the touch in 4 hours. Hard overnight and then fully cured in 3-5 days.

I am lucky I have both so I just get some of the cheaper ones with a matt finish (if I can). If they are gloss you need to sand lightly so the resin has something to grip to.

this one is a matt floor tile. I clean thoroughly and if it needs it a quick sand. I love flowers and have been working on some lovely colour combinations that I want to use soon. The heat gun is from the local hardware store You can get smaller ones used for crafting with embossing powders or you can use a hairdryer.

I use a variety of different resins and choose the resin based on properties rather than brand. I like the high viscosity resins because they are slower to move and I can keep the shapes I want.

You can either frame it or attach it to a backing board with liquid nails and then hang the backing board.

They are silicon cake moulds. I find they are sturdy enough to hold the tiles this size and they are uneffected by any heat you may add to the tile. Resin and paint just peel off.

Hanging/displaying and framing your artwork is as important as the actual piece and completely outside of my knowledge. If your art is a standard size you might be able to get store bought frames but if not you might need to strike up a relationship with a local framer who has all the tools and machinery to custom make them for you.

It depends on the resin you have. Epoxy resins have anywhere between 20-40mins depending on your workspave temp. Have a look at the technical data sheet for your specific resin

I tried my first resin and was wondering if it was typical for mixing colors to resin to require a great deal of mixing. It acted as though it didn't want to accept the color.

I haven’t had that experience personally. If you are using powders they don’t actually mix, they just disperse through the resin, If you are using pigments, ink or paint it should mix easily. Remember not to add too much as you will impact the curing of your resin.

The best way I found to use Alcohol inks is to use a standard white for your design and then when your have stopped moving your resin drop the alcohol ink ontop of the white. They will bloom and move but over the white sections will show your colours. I love alcohol ink but they fade a lot in your resin piece. Can you get some acrylic inks to use instead.

I find the challenge of creating depth and movement using colour, tones and contrast in a single pour the most fun. So if I add another coat is is almost always clear and just to fix any surface flaws. I don’t use glitter as such because I have mica’s that are different sized flakes and can achieve similar shimmer and sparkle.

I quite often mix up a couple of different whites and blacks just in case I need variety. So many whites are different shades and densities. sometimes I use them and other times I won't need them.

Sorry this is a heat gun. This particular heat gun has a temperature dial so you can choose low or high heat. Go for it. Resin is good fun. 😄

I do this for pure pleasure and enjoy the process of discovery as much as the final creating of the pieces. I either give them away, keep the for myself or repour over the top. I don't sell them and my online prescent is limited to these videos and some FB groups.

I've never seen this done before so excuse me if this is an odd question.... You seem to use the torch to pop any bubbles. Doesn't the heat gun also bust the bubbles?? If so, what's the purpose of using one over the other?? Thank you! Doe, South Texas, USA

The heat gun softens the resin and make it more liquid which helps lower the viscosity and release the bubbles easier. Its the flame (carbon dioxide) of a torch that actually pops the bubble. You can do with any flame ore even blowing on them..... a torch is just easier.

Hannah yes you can. I can’t speak for oils but acrylics absolutely. A couple of things to think about. You need to consider the type of acrylic paint you are using. Remember resin will be considered a gloss non pourous surface so normal acrylics will just sit on top and potentially chip off. Best to look at using a multi surface paint or mix your paint with a medium that will help with adhesion. You will also need to coat with a protective layer, either another resin layer or varnish (will dull the gloss of resin)

The inks in this video are acrylic inks. You can use alcohol inks but they do fade over tiime and the slight tinge of yellow in resin will alter the colours eg purples become browns.
