I like how the first one looks like a wave and the second one reminds me of flame. These are beautiful

Its a toss up. I like bits of both of them. As pracrice tiles they do give me ideas for the full sized ones.

It turned out so beautiful. It really did!! The resin art really intrigues me and that is my next adventure but I am not ready for yet. Thank you so much Chris!

Pleasure Carl. Resin is will be like any new material you decide to play with. It behaves differently to paint and will have its own set of challenges to overcome.

I love your work so much ! The effort you take to make sure that your colors shine ! Thank you for explaining in detail. Actually seeing the viscosity of your resin teaches me a lot more than numbers & percentages on a sheet of paper. Now I know I had been using the incorrect resin for what I wanted. So many details to absorb, it's nuts !!
@crisscross1046 жыл бұрын
Thats exactly what I am trying to share. I personally like to choose resins based on properties and purpose. By all means use lower viscosity or thinner resins but understand they will move further and wider and adjust your designs accordingly.

I particularly like the right hand side where the fuschia, plum and black fold and interact with just a little of the raging raspberry. I like it better than the 2nd one. The bowls your husband made are gorgeous 😊

Its interesting how all of us look at things differently. I think I instinctively overdid the raging raspberry because i adore the colour.

I like this. Great swirls and I enjoy the colors. I would have likes to see something puncture that section of white in the middle. Maybe a couple thin lines of plum?

Your work is amazing Chris ...and your husband's too. Thank you. Can we see the tile when it is hung/framed for display? : )

Thank you. 😀 this was only a practice tile so it probably won's make the grade for a frame or hanging.

very, very lovely ! It's been a pleasure to watch you doing this. I'm a bit confused about small cups - is this ink only cups, without any resin ?
@crisscross1046 жыл бұрын
They are all resin mixes. Sometimes I use the same colours but different pigments. Like say white ink or paste They act a bit differently in your piece so I need to concentrate on which one I use so I use different types of cups to help me determin which one I am picking up

the work is wonderful. what heat setting are you using please ?
@crisscross1046 жыл бұрын
I am only using the first heat setting. I like to be a bit gentle with my resin. 🤗

Absolutely look forward to your videos and your pours are among my favorite. I have a question for you: You said you have a balancing board you can adjust by turning the legs. Can you tell me what it is? Brand, where to get one, etc. I would appreciate it! Thank you so much for sharing your techniques and your art!!
@crisscross1046 жыл бұрын
Hubby made them for me. Most hardware stores sell screw in adjustable feet for kitchen cupboards. So he installed three of them into a piece of chip board. Having them in a tripod formation is much easier to get a level.
@PattysGarden6 жыл бұрын
I will have to have my hubby build one for me. I really like the idea, as I have a heck of a time getting items level sometimes and onesy, twosy trying to get each corner doesn't work well! Thank you so much!! You're awesome.
@crisscross1046 жыл бұрын
You are so right. Tripods are the most effective way. I leave the single foot at the back, level it to one of the front pair and then level right to left with the second of the front pair. Keeping a good level is almost the most critical part of a resin pour. Else .....All you hard work just slides off and you could just cry.
@crisscross1046 жыл бұрын
I forgot to mention that you will need to seal your chipboard or base so that it does not warp and make your life worse.

Your husbsnd's wood turning is beautiful. The first bowl you showed was stunning, but seeing the coloured one was amazing - it looks like fine pottery. Does he sell his work?

First things first, your hub's wood turnings are gorgeous! Both are lovely, and I do love the color. The colors you used today are lovely, the plum added depth to the piece, very nice. I have a question about your tiles. They look matte; are they glazed, black tiles or did you paint them black? Thanks, Chris! Karen 🙋♀️🎨
@crisscross1046 жыл бұрын
Thank you Karen. I use matt tiles they are wall tiles so they have a different coating to the bigger floor tiles.

Hi Chris, as always, your work is amazing👍. Can you please give the name of the pigments you are using in this video? I know you mention the brand but how do you spell it?
@crisscross1046 жыл бұрын
They are an aussie brand ....Artisue creative. Sue the owner posted further down in the comments. They are lovely to work with. If you figure out the fushia... let me know LOL

I'm just about to start out my resin art as a hobby and I have some questions as I watch your videos daily lol Do all surfaces need to be primed? How do you then display your artworks with the tiles? Have seen lots of feedback on doing resin on canvas, how do you stop it from warping the canvas and pooling in the centre. thanks heaps
@crisscross1045 жыл бұрын
Hi there Angela. Resin needs to be poured on a non porous surface so anything you use needs to either be non porous or be sealed (primed with a non porous primer). The smaller tiles fit into standard photo frames without the cardboard backing. The larger tiles I custom frame. The canvases I use are for small pours so the sagging is minimal. I rarely do larger pieces on canvas prefering a more solid substrate like mdf, cradled birch or tiles. The canvases are good for small quick pieces and of course you could reinforce the back but by the time you do that you might as well have used a solid surface.

you are a good teacher... just a question : l am a beginner and l would know the difference between hot gun and a hairdryer ? thank you for reply
@crisscross1046 жыл бұрын
The hairdryer is not as hot so it will move the resin in a different way. They each have a purpose depending on the look you are trying to achieve. Have a bit of a play with torch, heatgun and hairdryer to find the one best suited to your work.
@kittykatgaming82966 жыл бұрын
Hehehe... towards the end there it looks like you borrowed your gloves from Dexter! They look completely covered in blood from the weird color shift in the raspberry !

What black did you mix in the resin. I missed the first.
@crisscross1046 жыл бұрын
The black is an ink fro Just Resin (Aussie co)
@bushbosh6 жыл бұрын
The heat gun is so close, why it didn't burn the resin? It was like two seconds to my trial and it burnt the resin
@crisscross1046 жыл бұрын
I have the heat gun on low and I keep moving it. I add the heat in small doses and let it cool inbetween. I also found different resins react differently with different tools and of course what you have added also contributes to the issue
@mariakoutromanos82326 жыл бұрын
I missed how you mixed your pigment with what to make it liquid . That plum worked out well i think
@crisscross1046 жыл бұрын
I mixed the oigment powder straight into the clear resin, its very fine so it dispersed beautifully.
