Demonstration Only - Pouring.
Moving the mica in a different way. Materials are blue/green, orange reflect and gold mica....... on resin with acrylic paint and liquitex ink colorants. This is the centerpiece of a three part piece.
Stay safe and take appropriate safety measures when working with resin and pigment powders.

It took a while to setup the room and to get proper ventilation. I have also been playing with some new techniques with alcohol inks which were a bit hard to video.

Chris Cross I do love your work and tutorial videos so thanks for this... I would be interested to see your results from alcohol inks also as I've been experimenting quite a bit with them and am still undecided as to which techniques I prefer... Will post some of mine soon.. Keep up the great creations!!! 👍 all the best from UK

So glad you're back!! This is beautiful, love the colors. Just bought 15 alcohol inks...went a little nuts, so I'd be glad to see you experiment with them. Yesterday, I completed my 'Studio Shift' which is what I call cleaning and organizing, it's so clean, I'm really hesitating to work, LOL. This Vid has me itching to get back to it! Thank you, I'm sure it's not easy to make vids, but I really appreciate having you 'here' while I work. Please keep making them! Karen

Lol. I have been dripping them on the resin and then setting fire to them. I keep having to run outside to do it so i don't burn the house down. I will figure out a way to do it safely and record it. 👍

Chris Cross Awesome! I'm lucky, I have an exhaust fan set up in the window, just above my pour table, which is my huge slab roller, actually, I used to do Lampwork Glass beads right there, so I use that when I torch, etc. Congrats on your new space!!

I was quite contained and tidy on the kitchen counter and now I have all this bench space that I quickly spread out and filled it with who knows. We put extraction in one set of windows and then all that i need to do is maybe tweak the lighting.

Annie I bought the original lot from a local nail salon and then most of the rest of them from the ebay shop in china (colerperk). Your local art supply or soapmaking supply places will also stock.

You make gorgeous paints. Is the tile 18" sg. The how much resin do you mix up for that size?
@crisscross104
@crisscross104 6 жыл бұрын
It is a 13.5" square tile this takes about 180mls. I mix a bit more just in case i want to add some extra colour. The left over is use to test some of my other colours.

Hello ! I wanted to say enjoy watching your beautiful Resin art work, it's gorgeous ! And can you order Global paints in US ? I live in PHX , Arizona, Thank you much for sharing , Oh 1 more ?' What do you put your canvas on and how do you make it level without putting a buldge in middle? Thx much , Deena
@crisscross104
@crisscross104 5 жыл бұрын
Global is an Australian brand but something like liquitex basics should be similar. I stay quite small with my pours so a light support with cardboard works. I have levelling boards (my house is on a permanent lean LOL). You can see the levelling method in the wavescape video.

@crisscross104

Hubby made frames similiar to photo frames with the metal clips to hold the tile in place. The hanging hardware is on the back of the frame.

♥️♥️♥️ since it is a tile how do you hang it on the wall?
@crisscross104
@crisscross104 4 жыл бұрын
There are a couple of ways. You can glue it to a primed backboard with something like liquid nails then hang the backboard or I frame them and hang from the frame.

Ana. I frame and hang them. You can use liquid nails to glue to a backing board and attach you hardware to the backing board for easy hanging.

Hi Chris ...do you know the difference between using mica ...and using glitter...thanks
@crisscross104
@crisscross104 7 жыл бұрын
Its my understanding that glitter is a common term for manufactured uniform plastic flake. I have found that it (glitter) seems to have a lighter profile and floats to the top of resin. Mica is a mineral and has its own weight. Depending on the type of resin you are using you can use both to great effect.
@crisscross104
@crisscross104 7 жыл бұрын
This can also be confusing as naming conventions of mica can sometimes determine flake size. glitter being the larger flake and pearl being a finer flake.

@crisscross104

The smaller tiles fit in standard photo frames. The larger tiles have custom frames with the hanging hardware attached to the frame. You can also attach tiles to a back board using liquid nails and hang the backboard.
