Just remembered, Artist’s loft is seen to give interesting effects. If you can get the white, Titanium white it should produce some good results.
@MoonkusserArt4 жыл бұрын
Artist's Loft acrylic paints are absolutely on my shelf and I have used it in resins. Only issue can be that I have witnessed acrylic paint cause rapid cure of epoxy resin in a cup due to improper amount added, the 10% or less rule when adding product. Try a pigment designed for epoxy resins and you will get awesome results. Check this video out - kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2q0ZqVmm9Gmq9E Enjoy creating Mike!

@bonitablackburn8484 жыл бұрын
@@MoonkusserArt Janet the reason you didn't get the color shift on your sample I believe is because you need to be generous with your paint in the resin. Try a dirty pour using a variety of the colors, you will surprise yourself with the effects on a black base. How can I send you a video of one I did like that?

awesome thanks for your video, yes teals and magentas are so hard to pick up true to color on camera. For the Rustoleum spray paint are you using the paint and primer one?

Thank you Stephanie. You feel my pain on the true color issue. The Rustoleum is the 2X Ultimate which is a paint & primer.

Hi Janet - the tips you give are invaluable, thanks for keeping it real ! could you pls advise if you make a "dam" with the tape for the resin to move up to & not run off the canvas ? (it's hard to tell in the clip)
@MoonkusserArt3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Maureen 😁. For this piece I did not do a tape dam. I allowed the resin to flow over the sides on this piece. In the beginning of the video I put tape on the back of the canvas for drips.

Wow, finally turned into a great piece. That chaos additive, personally not sure about it. Your first pour resulted in an oily surface, I think there must be something in it, perhaps Silicone oil? Although it gives interesting effects I think it also affects the resins ability to properly cure, hence your sticky areas. I’ve seen other artists get different effects just using paint types alone, but that’s also a learn by using which paints give these effects. Have you tried Artresin? It’s a non VOC epoxy which is specially designed for artists. You may want to Google it if you haven’t tried it yet.
@MoonkusserArt4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike 👌 I am not a chemist and opted to use the Chroma Chaos as a dispersion additive to the surface of my resin piece during my trial. The next time I plan to use it mixed directly into one of my pigmented resin colors of a pour. With regard to ArtResin it was the first brand I used. For me the price is quite high compared to other brands (currently I use epoxy resin from The Epoxy Resin Store). I am very pleased with their products & pricing is terrific. AND... their resin is 100% VOC free! 😁 www.theepoxyresinstore.com/ If you want to try their product use my discount code - Janet20 Thank you very much for watching my video. I hope you subscribed to my channel and will check out my other videos working with resin. Enjoy creating!

@@MoonkusserArt Hi Janet, that's good to know you've tried Artresin. I can agree that the price is quite expensive, I've used quite a few brands too. It does seem to be a very clear resin but am sure others are too. I once used one called JB Weld Liquid Epoxy. It's more of a woodworkers resin for wood. But cures quick in less than 24 hrs. Only thing is the hardener smells very fishy! At the moment am using Ecopoxy's UVPoxy. Another quite expensive brand but I liked that it had some good eco friendly points. I make handmade skateboards, for a few years now. Started off as a fun hobby and now am lucky enough to have people part with their cash to buy them. So I've been incorporating resin art into my board designs, it's one of my favourite practices. How did you get into resin art? There's another pouring medium called Liquitex, there's others as well. I find because it isn't as thick as epoxy resins it allows more time to play around with mixing your colours. I've always tried to watch my paint ratios with resin, I think acrylic ones have water in them so i suppose that's why you have to be careful when mixing. I have had resin just go like slush and then like treacle! Because I left it too long sitting. Plus the weather was something like 34 deg C. Thanks for the resin tip I will definitely check it out.
@MoonkusserArt4 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike. Sounds like you are doing some awesome stuff on your boards. I have been creating art my whole life. Started with resin to use as top coat on paintings & VERY quickly move to using resin as a medium. If you haven't done so already, find me on FB & IG. I would enjoy following your work!
@Sk8erbaker4 жыл бұрын
@@MoonkusserArt Hi Janet, in case you didn't know you're already following me, my IG is sk8erbaker. That's great that you've always been in a creative background. I suppose I have too, working in graphic design for a few years then being blessed on finding my board making. That's one I didn't see coming but life is great like that, never can tell what the surprises are. Thanks for introducing me to the epoxy brand, it would make sense to get a good resin but for less. But it's not so much the actual cost of the resin but the added shipping costs as am in Asia so usually costs are high.

Wouldn't canvas bent at the centre due to weight of resin
@MoonkusserArt4 жыл бұрын
This canvas did not bend in the center because the fabric was very tight and not a large size. I have a video on how to resin on a large canvas if you are interested - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpCyh5V7qMeKpJY

Will silicone drops used for acrylic paint work with resin the same way the CHROMA does?
@MoonkusserArt2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can get effects but slightly different. The Chroma is a bit thicker so it tends to stay put a bit better.
@karenturner54433 жыл бұрын
When you added it into the resin did you notice any of the oil spots?
@MoonkusserArt3 жыл бұрын
Yes, dropping it on the surface is what caused the reactions.
@johnsonandjohnson72983 жыл бұрын
But did Resiblast give you the same problem ?
@MoonkusserArt3 жыл бұрын
I used ResiBlast in a different way by adding several drops directly into one of my cups of pigmented resin. I had heard that it was the way to use it to produce cells. It did give cells but they quickly fell apart. I had very minimal surface oil using that method.
