As a long-time CPAP user - 20 years - I personally have set my AirSense 10, put on my Respironics Dreamwear Headgear and go to sleep. I don't play with settings every night or need my CPAP to have a range of fancy features which, after the novelty has worn off, will likely never be used again. This is a machine that works while I sleep, not while I'm awake. And the 10 is less than half the price of the 11!
@RespShop Жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing! It is important to consider what works some may not work for all. Changing your pressures and discussing with your sleep specialist is always recommended. Some patients may have underlying health issues if turning up their pressures may cause them to retain more carbon dioxide. If too low of a pressure is set then apneas may go untreated and Sp02 may drop through out the night. It is recommended that once your apneas look well maintained on your Cpap, re-testing is considered with a pulse oximeter. Thank you for watching!

After five years of the 10 I just got another one and I was issued a 10 because the 11 they had issues with the chips. And I also change doctors because I believe the other one had the pressure up too high and I had many leaks so when I got my new one along with, my new doctor they got it fine tuned just right and I get a lot more rest. My wife had her very old one over 10 years. It was a very antique model and now she has the 11 which I believe she got a year ago. The advantage of the 11 is her doctor can read her results over the computer and she doesn’t have to visit her doctor with the 10. I have to pull the chip out and take it to the doctors office for them to do any changes.

I've watched multiple reviews on Phillips and Resmed products seeing as my Phillips Series One has been "recalled" and requires replacement. Replacement candidates are the Dream Station 2 from Phillips and Airsense 11 from Resmed. Interestingly enough both have departed from accomplishing the job the CPAP machine is supposed to do in favor of marketing their product. Neither product provides adequate reservoir capability to last through the night FOR ALL PATIENTS. Yes, you can make adjustments because the machine doesn't do the job but is that what such a product is supposed to do? Sleek design, smaller counter space, and lighter weight all are attractive but not if the patient has to make the device do the work it's supposed to do on its own. Users of CPAP machines are normally more senior in years and as such suffer from weakened eyesight, arthritic hands, and generally less adaptation to complicated devices. Small touch screens with characters so small you can't see them without glasses and you can't touch one character with a shaking finger are not what the industry should be providing. Just another perspective . . . . .

Thank you for your Feedback J. Mitchell. All great points and I will be happy to pass those over to the manufacturers. Very true that new upgrades can be difficult for our elderly patients however, patients now days come in all shapes, sizes, and age. I believe the new models are to attract our younger patients then differ them away. However, I do agree the down side to the new models by both the ResMed and Philips is the style of the water chamber. Oddly the size of the container still holds the same amount of water, but I believe the style of it may cause the water to deplete quicker.

I thought for sure the next ResMed machine would be designed to hold two cups of distilled water instead they stuck with 1 1/2 and from what I’m reading it’s not working well. I live in an extremely dry climate and need high humidity to get it up to 85% as my residence is at about 13% during the winter and the gas furnace makes it so dry I can’t stand it.

I totally agree. The tiny touch screen sucks compared to menu selection with the knob. Thank goodness that ResMed is continuing the AirSense 10 in the "Privacy Model" that doesn't transmit your data over the air. I need a new machine, but I'm gonna stick with the Airsense 10 Autoset. My current one is now 6 years old, and after nearly 17,000 hours of service, it's inevitably starting to show signs of failing (loud whining noises during operation). So, it's probably time for a new one. I'm an old hand at this (22 years on CPAP) and figured I'd be starting over with a new machine. It was therefore a pleasant surprise to see a near-identical model still available. I already have accessories, supplies, etc., and know every detail of the machine. It'll be nice to get another one, and not have to start again with a different style machine. I never needed or used the cellular (2G? or was it 3G?) features on my old one, so I won't miss that anyway. I also don't particularly want a touch screen (why, just why!??!? it's one more thing that can fail)... nor OTA updates (because who wants the possibility of a surprise bricking?).

I noted on a replacement tub for the Airsense 11, its labeled as "Standard" so I hope that a longer version will be produced. Also, amazing to me that neither version can sense when the water is out. SO, both will "burn" the residue in the tub once dry. Yes, I do use only distilled water and this burn and it associated smell still occur. No reason for this issue to have been overlooked especially since the 11's tub is much smaller and neither is an inexpensive device. Perhaps a software update can add a feature to monitor for drops in humidity and shut off the heat.

If you're worried about running out of water as I am sometimes worried about, then you can turn the humidity level down to a lower number which I do sometimes if I know I'm going to sleep for a long time
@RespShop2 жыл бұрын
Some great suggestions made, feel free to reach out to ResMed at support@eshop.resmed.com. Standard tube can mean a non heated slimline tubing. Most tubes are made at 6ft, you can purchase other brands that come in longer non heated tubing. However, increased length has disadvantages if you're also using a humidifier and a heated hose. The longer length can cause the air to lose heat and humidity as it travels from your machine to your mask. Thank you for watching! I found that using a stylus on the touch screen can help to tap a selection more precisely and avoid "fat fingering" a choice. Also, if you have an older AirSense 10 machine that is a CDMA unit (look on back of device for the IC code which will state IC:xxx Air10CDMA), it stopped sending sleep data to Resmed's myAir platform in April 2022 due to phone carriers no longer using CDMA networks. If it is important for you to monitor your sleep data on myAir Resmed, you will have to upgrade your CPAP. I was told by Resmed that AirSense 10 machines made after 3/1/2017 should work with 4G.

@@creativity.studio4967 Regrettably, the device cannot be fixed. The CPAP will still work, you just won't be able to monitor your sleep activity. Also, after about 5 years or so, the CPAP pressure might decline. If you can find an AirSense 10 manufactured after March 2017, it uses 4G and will send data to the myAir app. I couldn't find one through my my in-network health insurance provider, because of the Phillips recall. As along time user of the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet, I found it to be very reliable these past 5 years and it is at its end of life. I have an AirSense 11 on order. My concerns are that the AirSense 11 has a smaller blower motor then the AirSense 10. That will mean that it will have to be running at high RPMS to produce the same volume of air flow as the AirSense 10. Two things stand out, higher RPMS means louder noise. ResMed got around the noise by putting much more sound proofing in the 11 then in the 10 to get it to the same sound levels of the 10. My other point is, that higher rpms mean more wear and tear on the blower motor. I am wondering what the life cycle will be for the 11 and if it will be as reliable as the 10. Your thoughts?
@RespShop Жыл бұрын
The motor for the 11 is not as small as you think. ResMed does advise the life span of the unit is the same as the Airsense 10, which is 5 years (if the machine is taken care of) Filters changed, water chamber, hose, and mask cleaned and changed out. As for the noise level the S10 sits at 26.6DBA and the S11 at 27DBA, a total of .4 difference. Not too bad since the S11 is noticeably compact and smaller than the Airsense 11. end of life isnt five years. yes most insurance companies will replace the machine after 5 years and there is a message that tends to pop up that SUGGESTS you need a new machine but that is based on hours used and not on the actual health of the machine. you can clear the message and keep using it potentially for many more years unless you have obvious problems like motor noises.

@RespShop Жыл бұрын
Hello Robert, If your CPAP device is being calibrated once a year and proves on a monometer it is still providing adequate pressure you are good to keep using the S8. The reason why the manufactures request patients to replace the devices is because the motor slows down. Your display may say a pressure of 10 but in reality it could be only providing a therapy pressure of 6. This will under treat your sleep apnea and worse cause other underlying health issues.

I was using my Airsense 10 for over 5 years and loved it. My insurance said it was time for a new machine and sent me the 11. Immediately I noticed the 11 has a different power port and transformer. The climate heated tube from the 10 will not fit the 11. The machine filter is of a different size. Annoying that basic parts are not interchangeable. Both machine start up automatically when user puts on the face mask. However the 10 shuts off automatically when the mask and headgear are removed. The 11 does not. Will have to see how to make the 11 communicate with my smartphone. The 11 menus are more complicated. So far I prefer my 10's simplicity of use.

Hello Guy, when it comes to sound both are practically equal. The airsense 10 sits at 26.6 dBA and the airsense 11 at 27 dBA. You can try turning off your smart stop and smart on. This means you will have to power your own CPAP by manually pushing the button, but this means once the mask is off you will not have to worry about the machine turning off automatically and the light turning on. However, there will be the sound of the air coming out of the mask.

Hello Ben, having the water chamber filled past the ma line can cause the water to spill into your humidifier or if you have had your water chamber for over a year it may be time to replace it. Running out of water at any pressure can be a cause of an ill fitting mask. I can't tell the difference between the S9 and Airsence 10 while using it, but I can tell between the S9 or Airsence 10 and the Remstar. And that's what counts. I don't fumble around on the buttons all the time, so I don't care about a touchscreen.

You might want to keep in mind that a CPAP machine that is more 5 years old can decline in air pressure and is not as efficient. Also, if you use the myAir Resmed online platform to monitor your sleep data dashboard and the data stopped around mid April 2022, the AirSense 10 is probably a CDMA machine. Look for the IC: xxx Air10CDMA code on the back of the device. I had this experience with my AirSense 10 machine. Resmed told me if the AirSense 10 is made after 3/1/2017, it should work with the 4g network.

@@brichter4669 Thank you. I have three units new in box. one has a 4G let modem. don't know what the other two have. I don't care about the resmed platform cause their data is more basic. Kind of comes off as more for entertainment purposes in my opinion. I actually disable my modems because I know the data they collect is far more fast then the data they show me. If I need metrics there's a multitude of apps that can read the SD card. Or you can even put a PI nearby with a WIFI sd card and have the data automatically synced without needing to pull the card. If you are a tinkerer this is a great place to have fun! :)

My concern is that the airsense 11 does not have accessories so I can go camping without buying a whole new expensive attachment for battery use - where is the power attachment that let's me plug into my RV using a "cigarette plug" on one end & the "new" end for the resmed 11 power into the machine.

Hello Gae, Thank you for your feedback. At this time we do not carry that item but it doesn't mean it will not be rolled out soon. Due to supply chain issues, accessories and CPAP machines are hard to come across. Like the Airsense 10, the DC cord and side cover did not roll out till much later.

I watched this as an Airsense 10 user who is looking to replace my aging machine (which happens to no longer be able to talk to the cell network due to our networks no longer supporting 2G & 3G). And I will add that I am a techie, who is all in favor of smarter devices, touchscreens, etc. That said, I thought you sounded very biased towards the "cool new machine" factor. Why in the world do I need my machine to talk to the ResMed app? I don't! How often do I change ANY settings? Almost never! So other than "it's cool", what in the world do all those changes bring to me? Nothing! OTOH, having a water tank that barely makes it to 8 hours and that spills if filled sounds like a genuine pain in the ass...one that I will deal with every single day of ownership! Likewise, do I really want or need a touchscreen? NO!!!! It is one more thing to fail, AND for those of us with big hands, they usually are a pain in the ass. It sounds pretty clear that I will choose the bigger, VERY robust Airsense 10.

jmatsko25 - I am guessing that you've noticed the soft airflow on the Airsense 10 that occurs after you get up in the morning. That is by design. The blower will softly blow air for about 30 minutes after you shut the A10 unit off. This will help dry out your hose to minimize the chance of mildew. My recommendation is to get up, quickly empty your water chamber and wash the skin oil off of your mask, then put the water chamber and mask back on the machine so that the soft airflow can dry things out. Helps keep the hose / mask fresh.

I’m new to Resmed Airsense 10 after being on DreamStation for many years, which I liked very much, until the recall caused all the local providers to completely drop Phillips. I haven’t received the Resmed just yet; waiting on appointment. Regarding the water tank; does it have to be filled to the max level each night if there is plenty water left in the tank? My DreamStation tank would last 3 days before needing refill. Also, I’ve never had a heated tube before. Won’t running water through the heated tube damage the heating element connection?
@RespShop Жыл бұрын
Hello Baklash1762, Topping out your humidifier with water every night ensures you do not run out but also ensures your heating element/plate does not burn. Depending on your humidification setting some patients go through a lot or little bit of water nightly. The ResMed detects mask leaks more aggressively this is where some patients run out of water often, if they are wearing a ill fitted mask or wearing a nasal mask when they need a full face mask. Running water through the tube is fine when cleaning, just ensure to not submerge the hose in water. You will see prongs on one end of the hose, if it does get wet, just ensure to take a dry cloth/towel and wipe up the water. Thank you for watching! Another comment: Have been using AirSense 11 for over a month now and am not pleased. The humidifier tank is too small. In dry weather I adjust the humidity level up. But then I wake up with painfully dry nostrils because the tank is completely empty. This means I need to get out of bed to refill the tank before I can get back to sleep. Thankfully my Airsense 10 is alive and well, so I've gone back to using it. The Airsense 11 will just have to sit in my closet unused.

I have been using Air Sense 10 for >3 years and have been very pleased with improvements in my sleep, and especially great reductions in Apnea evens. My wife was diagnosed with apnea and started CPAP therapy using Air Sense 11 app rox. 3 months ago. I definitely agree with the comments re: water "spillover" from the chamber when filling. We usually tilt the chamber when filling and carrying to the CPAP device. We feel there may be a "glitch" in the way Air Sense 11 calculates apnea events as her sleep is MUCH Improved, yet the events/hr seem high, especially when compared to my events/hr on Air Sense 10. Thus far, the provider of her Air Sense 11 seems not to concerned with the events/hr she is racking up during her sleep. Have other Air Sense 11 users seen higher than expected values for events/hr?
@TheKastle2 жыл бұрын
Have you tried switching machines for a couple of nights so you can compare your results. You shouldn’t compare to your results to your wife as you’re different individuals. IMHO. As matter of fact my AHI is .5 lower on an AS11 compared to a DreamStation 1. Her settings might need to be adjusted.
@RespShop2 жыл бұрын
Hello there, A good AHI per hour is under 5/hr. As long as your wife is hitting under 5 then treatment is successful. Ones therapy cannot be compared to another as there is a lot to factor in. For one, your wife is a woman and her breathing algorithm is much different to yours. Woman breathe much more shallow then those of men breathing, which increases RERA's in woman. Another is severity and time. You have been on CPAP for 3+ years so you have had a chance to get quite comfortable and your body has accepted the CPAP therapy as helpful. Often times at the start of CPAP therapy ones body can fight against treatment and we can find that apneas can increase especially those central apneas. Treatment can take one 3-6 months to adapt to. I believe your spouse just needs more time and possibly a titration study if you find her apneas are still too high. Please feel free to call us at 866 936 3754 for more questions and don't forget to Like and Subscribe for more CPAP content.

try the thumb ring that measures O2 and Heart Rate. Sync the time on CPAP and the ring then look at the detailed results. The ring samples every second. Then open the app and see what you O2 is doing, where's the baseline? Dropping below the 90% line (as an example). I used this to eval a dental appliance and it doesn't even come close to CPAP machine results so back to the machine. All my personal opinion here but that's what I've found. For me, I can't go by how I feel in the morning as an accurate guide (no matter what they tell you). I see a big difference in AHI S10 vs S9 so you might be right about the S11 Apnea events calculation.

Then from someone else who taught you how to use the machine and now from the winner company that all Medicare patients have to use. because of Covid you can’t get into their office.
@RespShop Жыл бұрын
Hello Bob, The Auto CPAP is not a new technology and most machines are set to auto for ease and comfort. Your Dr would make note of the pressure and your provider (Apria) will set that for you. Auto CPAP helps with providing enough pressure to treat the obstruction you are having. The neat thing with the airsense 11, it is 3 machines in one. If you do do not like the auto setting (where it changes the pressure based on your needs) then you can ask your provider to set it on a manual pressure (one constatnt pressure from the time you go to sleep to the time you wake up). The 3rd setting is a FOR HER setting, a more gentle algorithm of pressure for female patients.

You made a brief comment about "leak vs spill" early in the video but didn't address it later. The 10 has a poorly designed water tank that joins the metal and plastic below the water line. All of mine, and I have bought quite a few, have leaked after several months of use. They also break at the hinges very easily. I've had to resort to putting silicone sealant around the inside of the at the gap. I shouldn't have to do something like this for such an expensive piece of equipment. Frankly, I have to wonder if this was done intentionally, and I'm surprised there hasn't been a class action lawsuit. The S9 had a much more robust design and I never had this problem with it's water tank.

Are there any AirSense 10 machines compatible with the newer 4G technology? My current AirSense 10 uses 3G, and is not compatible with the U.S. telecommunications technology.
@RespShop2 жыл бұрын
Hello Judy at this time we are unsure that ResMed is launching anymore S10's with the new 4G tech. We believe this software is being saved for the S11. The s10 we carry at RespShop are now card to cloud.

Why are these machines getting so much bigger and heavier?!? I need a new machine and everything on the market is at least twice the size of my Resmed Escape II and much heavier as well. I don't have the room for these new GIANT devices. Let alone that the hose output is on the backside where the hose now needs to be longer to make up for the extra length needed to come around the front of the machine. Lastly, I have NEVER used or even attached a water chamber to my Escape II. Do you know of or have any recommendations of a much smaller device? Any help is appreciated.
@RespShop2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, the ResMed S8 Escape II would be a bit bulkier in size than these new units (ResMed Airsense 11/10) with the integrated humidifier. If you are not using the humidifier attachment then that will surly cut down the size of the machine. You can look into the ResMed Airmini which would be half the size in length and width of your current Escape II and you do not need to worry about distilled water. You can give us a call at 866 936 3754 if you have more questions.

What is the difference in pressure between the Airsense 10 and airsense 10 for HER?
@RespShop2 жыл бұрын
The for her is a softer algorithm and most effective from pressures 4-10cmH20. Woman breathe much more shallow then men, so a burst of pressure causes more arousals in woman and sleep disruption then men on a standard CPAP. What!? AirSense 10 tank last two (2) nights? No! I live in a dry, high-altitude climate and I don’t get through one night without dry mouth and throat. I use witH oxygen and even run the bubbler too. I’ve tried both auto and manual, and 1-8 is crude, either on or off humidification it seems. I’ve had the unit for 4.5 years and maybe it’s not working as it should? Thanks for the warning about the smaller/tighter tank on the 11. The medical equipment source I got the 10 from has poor customer service and I’m suspicious the software has never been updated. 🤬 Comments?
@RespShop2 жыл бұрын
The humidifier tank can last upto 2 nights depending on hours of sleep as well as how high the pressures go. Rule of thumb if you the water chamber is emptying out before you wake up and less than 8 hours, check your mask leak. If your mouth is opening or the mask is leaking, the machine will go through more water. I am not too sure what you mean by: the software has never been updated. You are more than welcome to call our medical team if you need some assistance 1866 936 3754.

Does the 11 use the same size tubing as the 10? I'm wondering if the Respironics 1032907 tubes I have will fit the 11?

I can’t understand why they feel it is better to snake the tube out the back. I want to have the device screen facing me so I can look at it when needed…and would prefer the tube to be straight out the front, or at the very least off the side…but the back just seems to add an unnecessary bend and lose more than a few inches unnecessarily. Am I the only one who thinks that way.

Good comparison. I would like to know if the two cases are different sizes. I pack my CPAP in my carry-on luggage and it is a tight fit. Does the Airsense 11 have a smaller case?

The two cases are different sizes. The S11 is smaller but not by much. Did you know the CPAP is a free carry on. So how about how noisy is the new unit versus the 10 version? Is it noisier/louder or similar. That’s my biggest question as I am looking to move away from my cancer causing DreamStation. Thanks.
@RespShop2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, The dream station noise sits at 27.9DBA. Just so you have an example of the noise. The Airsense 10 is 26.6 DBA and the Airsense 11 is at 27 DBA. Hope that answers your question. If you enjoyed our video, don't forget to Like & Subscribe for more CPAP and Sleep related videos.

The 10 noises are extremely annoying. You get a hissing air sound around your head that sounds like Darth Vader and also a noise from the machine like water running through pipes or someone filling a bathtub.

While I have and think highly of my AirSense10, I need to take issue with the longevity statement. These units have a one year warranty, about 2 weeks after that warranty expired my AirSense 10 failed. Resmed was neither helpful nor understanding. I had the machine repaired by a 3rd party repair service at my expense ($500 us dollars), and it has functioned flawlessly since. The failure was that the main board was substandard. Basically, they had to replace all of the electronics and mechaicals.
@RespShop Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing! However, ResMed does not sell directly to patients you would have had to go through a provider. Your provider gets a 2 year manufactures warranty in which it is repaired for free. I would suggest finding out who your provider is and speaking to them about some type of compensation. Any issues with the device Within 30 days is considered a manufactures defect and you should have been supplied with a replacement. Sorry to hear you went through a lengthy process.
@archiesilkworth6607 Жыл бұрын
@Respshop I did go through a provider, and it cost me about $500 for roughly $50 in parts I could have easily replaced. While I recognize the need for the providers, I should also able to obtain the parts to maintain my own equipment. I believe it's called the right to repair.

6:08 Why does Resmed need to send software updates to a machine that is working fine???
@RespShop2 жыл бұрын
I am sorry to hear this feature is not something you are interested in. You can contact your CPAP provider who can then contact their ResMed Rep and see if there is anything they can do on their end to disconnect this.

I have an airsense 10. I have moved the numbers around during time now I dont know if I should go back to the original, in critical there is a reset. If I hit that , would it take me back to what the doctor originally set? If you are wondering why I did I didnt like the way it worked so I changed it but am not happy with it. ( I am going to find a new pulmanologist. Thank you
@RespShop Жыл бұрын
Hitting reset will take your machine back to the manufacture default settings and not what your Dr plugged in. It will essentially erase all your data. If you feel that your pressure settings require adjustment, speak to your doctor. Do not try to adjust your CPAP machine yourself. Calibrating your CPAP machine is part of the process of getting the most out of your CPAP therapy and needs to be done by a professional.

I do not like the 11. It will not hold enough water. The hose going straight out from the machine is not as good. When it runs out of water it smell like it is burning.
@RespShop Жыл бұрын
Hello Susan, The Airsense 11 and 10 have the same size water chamber. It may be that you are having a high leak coming from your mask or mouth opening during sleep. This can cause more water to be used. Or You can also check to see if your humidity level is on the higher level. Thank you for watching! I really need some help on where to go he from here.

My Airsense 10 stopped communicating with AT&T and the MyAir app on April 18, 2022. That was due to AT&T discontinuing support of 3G. My Airsense 10 communicates only via CDMA (3G) and so cannot communicate with AT&T ever again! I'm in line to get a Airsense 11 and so far I haven't been able to verify 100% that it will support 4G and higher. I sure don't want communication with the sleep clinic to get complicated. I would be bad news indeed if I had to carry the unit down for in-person reprogramming!

🆘 How does one use this on an airplane on a budget? Having already spent $1,299 on the AIrsense 11, I’m not really looking forward to buying a $2-300 power bank. So if anyone has used this thing on a plane with a special usb cord or something please let me know. I know that there are outlets on a plane that cleaners use to vacuum but I don’t want to have to inconvenience a flight attendant, and possibly two passengers, all to be closer to an outlet and still be next to one of my kids.
@RespShop2 жыл бұрын
You will need to call your airline to ask what specifically you can use onboard the plane. Some international flights have AC plugs at each chair. You may have to be seated in a special area or you may need to bring a battery pack to run the CPAP off of.
