Thanks for the video. I called for a sleep study in August. They can't get me in until February. Someone I knew stopped using their machine, so I got it from them and bought replacement parts online. I wasn't sure how to hook up the mask, so this helped. I would wait for a prescription, but I'm literally smothering to death every night.

When I first started using my ResMed machine, I was giving a Nasal Mask... well the cup was leaving a little cut under my nose that was uncomfortable, so I went back after about 3 weeks to see if I could get something different, and was recommended to use the Nasal Pillows, they gave me two sizes to try (Medium and Large) and BOTH of them make me wake up feeling like I was punched in my nose repeatedly overnight. The little, hard plastic piece on the front of the piece for exhaling just presses on my nose ALL NIGHT LONG, not matter what I did to try and adjust it. So, I just went back to my Nasal Mask and will deal with it leaving the little cut under my nose for now. Hopefully it will callus up and not be an issue anymore

.....You're supposed to loosen the strap. The P10 is one of the best masks you can get. It fits nice and snug without needing to be tight.
@swanval38 Жыл бұрын
This is the best, by far, mask I’ve used in nearly 20 years of CPAP use. However, the cloth straps that go around the head are not slid onto the metal arms, and insurance companies, including Medicare, will only provide the cloth straps in very long intervals. You can get the metal arms, which includes the bed for the pillows, on a much closer schedule. You get the “frame”, and you then must figure how to remove the strap from the old arms, and then you must thread it onto the new arms. This is a lousy part, and ResMed should work with the insurance companies and Medicare to get the strap replaced in a more timely manner.

Started with a medium-size Airfit P10. The inner lining is a hard plastic that started stabbing the inner edge of my nose which created visible sore spots. I'm temporarily switching to a nose mask to let the inner edge of my nose heal and then I'm going to try the large size P10 nose pillows to see if it keeps the sharp inner portion from stabbing me. People say that these nose pillows are supposed to rest on your nostrils and not protrude too deeply, which apparently causes irritation from the hard inner lining's sharp edge. I hope this works. If it does, great. If it doesn't then this is a poorly designed product if it does more harm than good.

My problrm is I don't seem to fall asleep at all anymore when I wear the P10 I did fall asleep having a nap one day and was so excited but at night time I find it easy to inhale but hard to breath out- Is that normal- am I overthinking it.? I try to sleep but can''t. I feel if I fell asleep for one night and didn't suffocate that I'd be fine , I'm sure its a confidience and trust thing. It would be great if the holes were bigger but am guessing its the resistance to the force of the air on exhaling that makes the whole thing work. Any thoughts Id be happy to hear. Thanks

I also can’t breathe because of the mask. And now I got the pillows but the one they gave me doesn’t actually have pillows in it just a whole so the air comes out too quickly and suffocate me. I’m ready to stop using it too. It’s really frustrating because I used to have one years ago with nasal tubes that didn’t blow to much air in my face. Tried 3 different masks already and can’t breathe with any of them. 😪. How do I get HELP???
@ResMed Жыл бұрын
Hi Laurie, Your medical equipment supplier is your best resource for any setup, adjustments, or troubleshooting you might need with your machine, mask, or other CPAP equipment. After discussing the issues you're experiencing with them, they can help you find a mask style or model that may work better for you or they can offer adjustments to your machine settings such as AutoRamp, which starts your therapy at a lower pressure to help you fall asleep more easily, before gradually ramping up to your prescribed settings. More info on that is available here: bit.ly/486UouX You may also want to discuss this with your doctor if you feel your air pressure settings are too high.

how can you tell if the pillows are fitting well?
@ResMed9 ай бұрын
Thank you for asking! The P10 should feel like it is “designed to fit” your nose, the nasal pillows should not go in, and the spacing of the pillows should pretty close to exactly match the spacing of your nostrils. If you feel the fit may not be ideal, you can try another size or reach out to your medical equipment supplier for an in-person fitting.

You may find the Ramp feature on your machine helpful in this case. It's designed to make therapy more comfortable by setting the machine to a lower pressure than you've been prescribed and then slowly ramping up to the full prescribed therapy pressure. Using this feature should allow you more time to comfortably fall asleep. We'd always recommend discussing talking with your doctor before making any changes to your settings. They may also have some suggestions for additional ways you can improve your comfort and adjust to CPAP without reducing the effectiveness of the therapy itself.

so what happens if you start trying to breath out of mouth when you are sleeping, does breath get cut off?
@ResMed4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gigi, Thanks for reaching out! Breathing through your mouth while using a nasal or pillows mask isn't dangerous but can reduce the effectiveness of your PAP therapy and result in discomfort, dry mouth, and poor sleep. It may also register on your device as a mask leak. We do have chin restraints available but if your mouth breathing becomes persistent, it may be worth looking into a full-face mask for your PAP therapy. We always recommend discussing any adjustments to your therapy with your doctor. Thank you, ResMed Customer Care

The nasal pillow masks are not as reliable as nasal masks (covering your entire nose). Those masks have tightening straps and cannot move around as much as nasal pillows. I do not understand why they do not make proper straps for the nasal pillow masks.
@andrewpersaud41449 ай бұрын
I don't move in my sleep, so prefer a light weight mask like the P10. Every end user is different that's why they make various masks. If you prefer the full nose nasal mask, then go with that. That doesn't mean the other ones aren't "proper". I personally despise the mask you prefer, for example.

Don't use a mask were the hose hangs down. Use one that has the hose on top of your head. If you change sleeping positions a lot while sleeping. A hose that hangs down will loosen or pull your mask off.

Does size letter of the fix fit p10 mask for facing up or down
@ranatlas Жыл бұрын
I'm not entirely sure what you're asking but I will try to answer. When you put on the P10 nasal pillows, you should have the side with the size letter (S, M, L, XL) facing you. Depending on your sleeping position, that side would face different places. If you sleep on your back, for example, that side would be facing down or actually at a slight angle down but definitely not up. I hope this makes sense.

The size faces downward when you have it on. Note there are small letters L and R on the pillow.

had used these masks for years. They used to have problem with the elastic stretching to the point where they needed to be replaced. ResMed "improved" the design with an adjustable strap. Good idea, lousy implementation. I have now had three units fail (just out of their 30-day warranty) where the elastic joins the plastic adjuster. One unit fail after only 4 night's use. This used to be a great product, now it is a total waste of money.

The six foot heated hose is heavy and somewhat rigid. Because of the weak elasticity and poor locations of the nasal pillow straps, the heavy hose pulls the nasal pillows mask off my face if I turn my head just a little bit. ResMed used to test its products before offering them for sale. It's obvious that these weren't tested properly.
