Don't remember the year, but the venue was the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, TX. The Fabulous Thunderbirds opened, then ZZ Top with The Rolling Stones headlining the whole show. This was the only concert that my mom ever took me to! She actually convinced a scalper that she was undercover with the Dallas PD and ended up with 2 tickets for $5 under face value... I was blown away!!&! My mom actually started dancing to ZZ Top... might've been a contact high, but it was the most memorable concert for me, and mom loved ZZ TOP!!&! 😎

ZZ Top has been my absolute favorite band of all time. I graduated highschool in 83' and I've seen them several times in concert, beginning with their Eliminator tour, and the tours for their next 2 albums, before the loss of bass player extraordinaire, Dusty Hill, RIP. “TUSH” and “La Grange” are probably my 2 most favorite songs of theirs, but there are sooo many! It's been my experience, the people who have too much money are the only ones who say, “money doesn't matter”.

That's a kind-of fallacy (which, even, I started to convince myself of/believe!), but, actually: it isn't so. Afterburner is the one album where they had a more "radio-ready" sound (although, they, still, were writing and playing ZZ Top songs!). The fact that their entire sound got pared-down to: using Tom Scholz's "Rockman" tech. [for the majority of the '80s], (which is what made Boston sound so strong and "unique,":but, actually, did some, strange, sonically "unfavorable" things [such as boosting the mid-range of the guitar-which is unnatural and, actually, makes them bland, and "syrupy" ... "sweeter" and less "edgy" ...but, often, also, makes them slip into the range of the vocal and other such things)) and employing electronic percussion/electronic drum sounds and some sequencing (although: Frank Beard never gave-up PLAYING!!-Don't fall for THAT idea!) He, sadly, didn't get out of playing "on the grid" beats for a while (even on the GREAT Rhythmeen and XXX, there are instances where he seems to be playing with that same feel/techniques (or has electronic triggers enhancing things, in places!). [I think it was, finally, Rick Rubin who "exorcised" that from the band.; in the end.🤷🤷] ...but, look: Go listen to "Got Me Under Pressure" (and although the guitars may be a little "smoother" at the edges and less "jagged" [which is the way that *I*, personally, LOVE them, too!] ...that song is HEAVY! IT KICKS! ..."I Got The Six": same. -Fine, you may not like it as much (and I, personally, rate their '70s material above MOST of their catalogue; strongly, too!), but: Don't kid yourself with thsi "pop-rock" idea. That is NOT an actual fact! ...and when they came back with Rhythmeen?? Whoo! **smh!** -F'in' BLISTERING!!🔥🔥🔥🔥 Go listen to "She's Just Killing Me" and come back and tell me it didn't blow your hair back and leave gravel in your pores!!!!! I DARE ya! ...Or: "Stackin' Paper" -Pssst!!!: Hey! Biz!!!! THERE's another "money-oriented," buzzsaw to the groin" track, for ya!!!!! "Stackin' Paper" !🤘🤘

2 lead vocalists, for ZZ Top, actually. Bassist: Dusty Hill AND Guitarist: Billy Gibbons. Somewhat unfortunately, for us, Dusty sings on fewer tracks (in their catalogue). ...although, sometimes, Billy and Dusty duet on a few tracks, too. THIS one, just so, happens to be: Dusty on lead (as is their mega-hit: "Tush"). ...and, generally, the "radioactive growl" is: Billy Gibbons singing. These guys are, permanently, ZERO joke. They throw out fire.🔥🔥🔥🔥 They lay it down tight. They put it down hard. They keep it pumpin' HEAVY and they have ALL the skills! They are FIRE on top of FIRE on top of FIRE with 10 sides of: absolute FI-YAH! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘💥💥💥 Check out: "Fool For Your Stockings" and "Brown Sugar" ...I *BELIEVE* you've, already, listened to: "Cheap Sunglasses" (if not: THAT goes, DIRECTLY, to the TOP of your list!!!! A, complete, "MUST!" -BANGER!!!!👊👊🔥🔥🔥🔥!) (...also: "Got Me Under Pressure" and "I Got The Six" 💥💥🤘🤘)🤘🤘 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Also: listen: You've got the wrong idea/'attitude" about "money,"overall (seemingly)! ...JUST because there IS a rule (and people/most people/"everyone" RECOGNIZES it!) does NOT imply, NOR 'can make it so' that THAT is CORRECT or apt nor does it "make it "so."" ...It doesn't MAKE the "rule," practice or belief or expectation! VIABLE or necessary (or, even, useful)! No. ...And, yes: One MAY be forced to accept the terms/"agree" with that standard (even though you DON'T, actually, AGREE with it!), because you have no power to change it or demand/request any alternate! Something existing and "knowing that it does," does NOT make all the results of that: "your problem," nor "made by you" or "controlled by you" or "under your purview (via choice)." This world is deviated in favor of those who start/"come to the table with": more of what is considered/has been made "valuable": Power, influence, control, an illuion of "birthright" or "inheritance" which makes: whatever they say or 'think' or 'feel' ...have greater influence, power, be given greater notice and "weight," in EVERY area which they may fall upon or be expressed or exercised in. ...All of these being sourced back to: money. ownership of it, control of it, the illusion of it. All of those things. >>>SO DO NOT make the error that: just because someone has (purportedly) "agreed" to something, that: they have other options. If you do not have other options to begin with, you are held hostage by the situation and this, in-and-of-itself, is exploited by those whose adavange it is to: use you and discard you; to keep you down; to devalue everything, except the illusion that they have always had reams of and which supports their "lifestyle" (as the saying goes) and their control of and/or influence over: every aspect of life, as it is, currently, (mis)"managed," in the aspects and rules of the society that we are all bound in. [Another way of reflecting this: If your only "choice"is to accept wthe single option provided (or: go suffer, die, whatever discomfort or pain or suffering the "option" of NOT choosing the sole, available, so-called, "choice," will lead to/will force you into.), then: you are NOT being given an, actual, ""choice." A single option is not a choice. Two "options," with one being: death, pain, suffering, horror, etc., is, also: NOT an, actual option/a real "choice." -No-one chooses those things (except to save something/someone that they love or prevent greater harm/destruction from happening,. ...and, generally, they don't do this without a sense of real certainty of their sacrifice actually, accomplishing THAT!), freely. ONLY when there, really, ARE no "options" (outside of: suffering and/or death...-without attempting to describe all of the various nuances or specifics that this may entail or which have been, seemingly, "left-out" by the brevity of those phrases -perhaps-), does someone, pretend to "choose" an untenable, unacceptable, unfair, intolerable, not-understandable, etc. "choice"/"option," that they are relegated to, then, "live with," and, under legal terminology (which is fallacious, beyond belief!), is something that they can be claimed to "have chosen" (or, even, "chosen, "freely" "🙄🙄🙄🤦🤦)!] --As the saying goes: "Don't get it twisted." ...because: if you, truly, ascribe to, precisely, what (everything) you said in the video, my friend: you, already, HAVE (gotten it "twisted.") That is a fact.).

Vintage ZZ Top like this, pre Eliminator album, are the best. It's not even close. There are two lead singers. On this track, it's guitarist Billy Gibbons. He has the scruffy low delivery and bassist Dusty Hill (rest his soul) has the upper register honk that you hear on the all time classic "Tush". Listen to the both get after it on tracks "Like Beer Drinkers Hell Raisers" and "Heard It On The X". The whole album Fandango is fire! The track "Backdoor Medley: Backdoor Love Affair/Mellow Down Easy/Backdoor Love" is a must! It's a live track on the half studio/ half live album Fandango.

Love of money is root of all evil. Money itself is a tool one needs to make life a bit easier. Just like a car, lawn mower, shovel, shotgun, or pocket knife. When someone puts money above everything else in life, they’ve become corrupted by the love of it. It’s like worship of a false idol, empty meaningless. There’s nothing wrong with aspiring to have more money or working hard, and saving as much as you can for the future. Sorry, talking too much but love your reaction videos. Always thought provoking. Billy Gibbons…. Dusty Hill… and only one with out a beard Frank Beard. The power trio is always more amazing then other forms of bands. Hendrix experience… cream… Rush… Nirvana… original gov mule when was 3 headed mule vs 4 headed mule. And think I’m taking away from other bands…. But in at least one or more members in a power trio they have a strength as good as having another person in the band.

Isn’t that great? That’s from their 2nd album, half a century ago! That’s what they can do when they want to, and that’s why old-timers haven’t been satisfied with a lot of their albums after the ‘70s. It’s because they can do this. When Johnny Winter heard this on the radio in Texas he called the record company and told them to have the band that made that song call him. He invited them over for beer and Mexican food and started trying to help them. Later ZZ TOP did the same for Stevie Ray and Jimmie Vaughan. More, please! How about “Nasty Dogs and Funky Kings”. Thank you!
