@@stormysmom2706 Don't. I signed up before for almost $4k course fees. Went to 8I (aka VI College) and the course instructor at that time was the big boss Ken Chee. The annoying people that you see in ads like Pauline Teo etc are all under his company. Nothing against Ken Chee, I like his attitude and personal life values. But honestly, I learnt a thousand times more on youtube than in the courses because 95% of the course had nothing to do with the actual investment and all about "mindset" and other fluff.

Really saddens me that he's quitting youtube for good :(

You'll be surprised how much hates he gets especially from "dividend investors". He usually gets ridiculed for his high conviction 'sniping' approach, i.e all in on 1 to 2 hyped up counters like TSLA and PLTR and selling options for income/lower cost basis instead of waiting for dividends. I'm of the belief that you simply do not have to choose growth or dividend and can be a mix but not everyone shares the same opinion.

I don't watch all of his videos but he did sorta pumped and dumped SOFI and PROTERRA when his video was about a 5 year investment if I recalled correctly yet he got rid of it like less than a month later and when some people called him out on it, he brushed it off that he informed to sell on Twitter so too bad you didn't listen type of message. You are so real and so down to earth. No bullshit. Just straight from the heart. When I happened to chance on your video for the very first time, the first thing which caught my attention was your face and the way you spoke. Every viewer knows you don't speak like a Cabinet Minister or like a Professor of English from a prestigious university in England but more like Phua Chu Kang or Chua En Lai. People watch Chu Kang or En Lai for leisure and entertainment. But people watch you for both entertainment as well as content on investment and trading related matters. And what great content you have been delivering in your videos. (Multiple Thumbs Up !!!) You may look like a noob and sound like a nerd. But for me, your face, your voice and your grammar doesn't matter. What matters is your heart. And that's the only thing which matters. What good is a great face and a charismatic voice if the heart is hideous. A person who doesn't have great looks can still be the most beautiful person when his heart is beautiful. As a result, I kept watching more and more of your videos and made it a point to LIKE all your videos. This is the least I can do to thank you for all your effort and time to make videos for those who care to listen to your sharing. Do keep up the good work and may the Good Lord bless you and your family always.

My 2 cents, take it for what it is. To put it nicely, seeing that you regard him highly, it's a difference in philosophy & market sentiments. Personally, I cannot agree to put more than 90% of my portfolio into any stock, be it Tesla, Microsoft, Amazon or even Birkshire. A balanced portfolio of fixed income and stocks is the wiser thing to do. Also, because of the volitility in the markets in the recent months, alot of finance KZbinr who blew up with speculative stocks are now facing the reality of a market correction after the pandemic bull market . Some can take it, some can't and when one posts stock or security recommendations online, people buy them blindly and it crashes 40, 50, 60%, people will not blame themselves, but the finance KZbinrs. Peter Lynch also teaches us that people are slow to buy the essentials like a car or a fridge, but can be very quick to buy a stock. So, if the stock go down, prepare to get hate.
@wildpasta2 жыл бұрын
Erm 90% of portfolio value is different from 90% of capital if you bought TSLA pre-2020 for just $xx only, which is what CG did. For pre-2020 tsla investors, of course your portfolio will be fat now and tsla may be the stock that takes up the giant share of your portfolio la. Tsla taking up 90% of present-day portfolio does not mean that 90% of your capital invested so far right?
@wearelosingyou2 жыл бұрын
No hate but my only gripe is the part you mentioned that a balanced portfolio is a "wiser thing to do". I think it is very fair to say that different people have different strategies, beliefs n time horizon when it comes to investing. And that is fine.
@ghcheong2 жыл бұрын
@@wildpasta true enough, but if you want to invest in individual stocks, you will need to rebalance the weight of your positions. Otherwise, stick to ETFs or index funds.
@ghcheong2 жыл бұрын
@@wearelosingyou True, can't argue with that. One must also remember that capital preservation is as important as capital growth. Personally, I use a Satellite approach to my investments where I have most of my money in stable companies like Birkshire, total world stock index funds and in high quality bonds and only set aside a small amount to invest in companies with potential but are more risky such as in the EV sector and in Chinese equity. I feel that this approach gives me better peace of mind when the market corrects to the way it did and will continue to do so. It also reduces the chances of me losing my cool and selling at a loss.

I came across CG's channel only late last year, initially didn't like what he said especially about Testla, nevertheless, i did my own research about Testla (including analysing it's annual reports) and was convinced of it's future prospects and impact to the world. Everyone's financial circumstances is different, those who copied all his trades without self analysis or risk management should blame themselves because copy blindly is not investing, it is gambling. So learning from others' mistakes : one must have independent thinking and build up own skills and knowledge, don't rely on others to tell you what to do with your hard earn money.
