But we're also, loyal, kind, funny, smart and love to have fun. I'm 41 and will NEVER act my age lol. If I had a dollar for each time someone asked me, are you on drugs, or why are you all over the place?? I will never apologise for being me!!! And to someone years ago who said I need Valium, never honey...
@livingwhilementallyill73985 жыл бұрын
You're right! I am bipolar. I've been manic. Truly manic. There's a HUGE world of difference between how you acted and mania. Some examples of MY manic behavior: Going to a store and wasting rent money on toys because they "needed a good home." Going to my kitchen and making an unplanned seven course meal for random neighbors, then throwing it away. Accusing my mom of betraying me because she wouldn't drive me to Washington DC to discuss the "dangers" of red food dye on deer. Staying up for 48 hours straight to either take on a ridiculously huge project that I had NO HOPE of ever completing. Talking to a person so quickly and loudly that they need to ask me to repeat myself SLOWLY. Thats just a tiny example of my manic behavior. Being energetic or even "hyper" does NOT make you manic. I wish people would educate themselves before they start throwing around words and labels they actually do not understand. Talking loud? Not mania. Laughing? Not mania. Dancing to good music? Not mania. And yeah, using terms about actual disorders not only hurts the person who is the target of these terms, but it hurts everyone who DO actually have the disorder. It just adds to the stigmatization of these disorders. I know I shouldn't feel ashamed of my illnesses, but when people use my diagnoses as insults and attacks. It only points out that my bipolar is a bad thing that I should be ashamed of. Manic behaviors are not choices. We cannot help the way we are. We don't make the active choice to lose complete control over our behaviors. I know your love for everyone makes these situations make things much harder to you personally. But seriously, Katie... These people do not know you. Please keep being you.

I guess I need to read up on it. You don't need Churchill to figure that out. One must have lived in a bubble, shielded from the real world, if it's still not obvious at age of 18, let alone 30-40... I am surprised nobody mentioned that now she provided an ammunition for all bullies - she just validated their approach. There will be now much more backlash because of her response - they now have physical proof she got hurt - so it doesn't take a genius to figure out their next step...

This rebuttal to the referenced video is ALMOST as annoying as first video. As another viewer noted I got a headache after a few minutes of watching you’re behavior. You might consider the type of content you post if sooo many people are writing similar responses. I hope when you step back and rewatch this actual tangential rant, you count how many times you repeat the same thing over and over, like the more times you say something the more validity it has. Kind of scary when viewers can see how much editing you did throughout this video to reduce said ranting. Can only imagine what unedited version looked like. Maybe you should have a F2F session with therapist and review, together. As a Licensed Mental Health Professional, given your vulnerable emotional health maybe posting aspects of your life on a public platform is not the healthiest thing for you right now. You can’t expect to put yourself out there for general consumption and then not wear you’re big girl pants when reading comments. Instead of a reactive retort that clearly shows how hyper sensitive you are to to people giving you their feedback, disable comments. People giving you their honest opinions about videos you post, and you being upset because you don’t like what is being said, is not bullying. When you talk about the symptoms of the various types of bipolar dx you also don’t have all of the facts. Stop by local bookstore and read the DSM 5, specifically the Mood Disorders. Also check out the Thought disorder section as you mention this frequently in your videos as well. With regard to the manic comments, like Shakespeare wrote in Hamlet, ‘The lady doth protest too much’.

Not everybody gets to the retirement age fully matured emotionally. Once again, I am not supporting negative comments - just saying that it's incredibly naïve of a ~40-yr old woman born&raised in NY to not expect some backlash. Oh, and I worked with some Italians. One of the nicest things they ever got to say in a corporate environment was "Go F**K yourself". the rest is really not suited for online forums. Wow I watched the video when you first posted it and LOVED how much fun you were having with him. Like seriously. I was afraid that people would automatically say you guys were a couple and run with that. I was totally not expecting people to jump on you like that. The comments are ridiculous. Keyboard warriors who have nothing better to do. You do you Katie! I wanted to jump through the screen and have fun with both of you. I really hope you don’t shy away from sharing your fun moments because your real followers love you ❤️

You need to understand that you have been putting yourself in the public eye, and therefore open to critical response. I for one respect you. But if you can't handle nasty response from people based on your posting then either stop posting or simply ignore the negative replies.

It's not zero tolerance; it is impaired to the slightest. HUGE difference. You can absolutely drink and drive as long as you are under the legal limit AND not impaired. If you are impaired, that is a different story.

Ok...here’s a perspective from a long time subscriber for what it’s worth. Yes, your vlog with him annoyed me and I found your energy to be over the top. However, what did I do? I just stopped watching it and thought to myself, I’ll catch her next video no biggie, maybe her “friend out on the town” vlogs just aren’t for me. It’s unrealistic to try to control people’s thoughts and opinions, but you can ask them not to voice them so harshly because that’s what decent humans do. 🤷🏻♀️🧡😊

Most people don’t act like that in their 30’s. They have moments but don’t totally regress. I have heard you say how deeply awful and depressed you feel so to see this other personality come out didn’t feel comfortable. I have never heard you discuss getting complete lab work and physical and psychiatric evaluation with psychotherapy.

I must have missed that video you're talking about because I didn't see any video that warranted all the remarks you are speaking if. BUT.....Katie, you have TOTAL control over things like negative people, you just click out of the comments and you do not read them! What you do not know can not hurt you ( in this respect anyway). Stay well Katie, and remember this....it is wonderful to enjoy being alive!!

Hi Katie! This video literally just came up as I was scrolling KZbin. Anyway, I watched the video where you went to dinner and saw your favorite concert and I just can't believe how adorable it was!! You and Brett were BOTH acting happy, being silly and having fun and I just can't believe how absolutely awful people can be to say the hurtful and very rude things they said about you!!! Please don't ever feel the need to prove anything to anyone because you know who you are and your friend/friends/family do as well so that's all that matters! I really love your videos. I subscribed a long time ago. Please keep enjoying your life always ❤️ Thank you for all of the great videos!!

i missed that video. why u do this? why are you so defensive? or what are you afraid of? you need 216k subscribers to back you up on their comments on THIS video? and why u NEED the reaction of your HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS subscribers. you know before fact that they will support you (at least the large majority of them) also we had a saying in my home country that translates like this into english : '' if one or two people say you're drunk, don't mind them, but if a whole lot of them come to you and say your drunk, go to sleep'' i sense that saying pertains to this instance edit: by the way those comments are NOT horrible, they are negative but decent. you have to know what horrible comment means, so you can use the term properly

So I've missed some of your recent videos, and I stopped this one right at the beginning to go back and watch the video in question to see for myself. I don't understand why people went bananas because I thought the whole video was so much fun. I spend a lot of time alone, but when I'm around certain people, they bring out a certain energy in me, especially when we're having a good time out. It was easy to see how much fun you guys were having and how excited you were. People just seem to be looking for something to be offended about. I don't get it. They were so needlessly critical and judgemental over nothing. I hope this doesn't make you hesitate to share as many things with us, but honestly, it would be totally understandable if it did. For what it's worth, I was smiling the entire time I watched that video. I would love to have that much fun with such a funny, sweet guy!

My x-husband use to criticize me because I was always hyper, happy & excited when we were around friends. He never opened up around friends but he liked putting me down once we were alone! Hey, you can be glad you aren’t married to those who criticized you! So I understand how you feel. The only thing I didn’t like in the video was the music the band played. But I am 72, so that’s to be expected!

Bunn Rabb ~ I totally relate to your comment... I had a toxic bff ... I'll never forget, I had good time hanging out with a girl in my class after school; I was excited/happy so I was talking a lot.. my bff was all "what are you so happy about, why you talking like that, does Cindy talk like that are you trying to sound like her? ... it seemed like she would purposely do things to hurt me, she later admitted she was envious of me/my life, which would be sweet if she didn't feel need to have what I had (while making me feel bad for whatever I had) ... with her disingenuous "that's great, I'm so happy for you" ... I think she thought bc I seemed happy/content, she'd be happy too if she had it too, sadly she wasn't happier, making her more bitter/resentful. I wish her the best and hope she finds happiness... I'm much happier without her in my life!

Tiffany Roth I even went for counseling, due to the way he treated me! The counselor told me that he treated me that way to keep me where he wanted me and because he was jealous. He knew that if he put me down enough that I would never leave him because he made me feel like I could do nothing else. We had two children so I lived that way for 15 years before I got up enough nerve to go through with the divorce. It’s sad to think I lived that way for so long. I am glad you were able to get away from your friend, people can sure mess with our minds! I felt the same way, I always prayed for him & wanted him to be happy, because he sure didn’t seem happy with me😔

Girl, do you have any idea how many depressing, complaining, victim syndrome video's you have made?! Claiming not to want sympathy but yet every break up you have acted clueless as if you did nothing wrong, crying about how YOU were treated Katie, you have never wanted to really discuss your mental illness in-depth but I truly believe you have bipolar manic depression. Anyone who has it or is familiar knows the signs. I know you have talked about PTSD and trauma but it is deeper than that. I think you're incredibly brave for what you were doing with your traveling and all of that with the mental health issues you're facing. I am not trying to be rude but I'm trying to speak truth because I'm hoping that maybe if enough people say it you will listen and possibly get more help because if not you were never going to be able to maintain a healthy relationship and you are always going to have the breakdowns that sometimes have on and I'm sure off camera. You have a lot of positive vlogs but a lot there is "something" wrong. I truly believe you have issue's with self love...and from someone who has dealt with and still deals with that. You cannot love someone else properly. I truly wish you the best but I do think you should watch back some of your videos and watch your rapid speech, your changing moods and just some of the things you say maybe even go over with your therapist

I’m disabled so i have spent a lot of time on social media in the last 5 years or so.It is the primary way for me to get news and stay in touch. And the normal rules of social interaction have never seemed to apply. I think the most basic rules apply everywhere. Don’t assume you know things that you don’t. Listen before you speak. You aren’t less of a person if you say “I don’t know”. You can allow space for other’s opinions while still having yours. Being positive and helpful is better than negativity. I could go on.....you get the point. The truth is that you,Katie, know and demonstrate this with every video. And i think the reasons are obvious. You have empathy for others and a desire for everyone to be better. You try to share parts of your life that aren’t easy. Most of all,you have life, the one you are creating by your social interactions and work and travel. You are creating it and have sacrificed things to have it. A lot of people want this and choose to be bitter instead of inspired. So glad i found this channel. Let’s keep worrying about each other. KZbin comments sections have always been bad but they can be places for discussion and positivity if we want it.

David Meroth You have so many wonderful things to say. I wish you would go on and say more. I totally agree. I’m going to add one little social rule to your list. “Just because you have an opinion doesn’t mean you have to share it.” There I got it off my chest. I don’t think the average young person know or understands any of these social graces. I am much older than most of the individuals that watch Katie’s channel at 55. Thank you for your words of wisdom.💖

What has made everyone in KZbin comments think they're therapists. You're not worthy of diagnosing someone if you took Psych your freshman year of college. Especially someone you don't know in real life that you just watch on a vlog. State your opinions, okay, but don't turn someone's personality traits into a full blown pathology. Calling people manic and narcissistic among other things is so overdone these days, and it is just wrong. Still love you Katie. I talk fast when I'm excited and happy too. I also talk fast when I'm nervous which also goes along with being happy for me. People and especially their emotions are complex. I'm happy for you that you found Brett.
