Dragon ball literally changed the course of my life. I was born sick, and weak. I needed a breathing machine most nights early on, and my mom just kept me secluded. Watching that early Ocean Dub version of DBZ on saturday mornings helped inspire me to exercise, strengthen my lungs, and join the kids who could run around outside. It took YEARS, and I still don't have the lung power of a normal person, but Im so much better off. All because of one ridiculous story written by a guy in another country I never met.

I'm deeply heart broken Celebraty deaths don't usually affect me but this one really hurts. Rest in Piece Akira Toriyama. I'm not trying to make this about me but I have nobody to talk to this about and I need to get these feelings out in someway. I was introduced to Dragon ball by my older cousin who let me play a Dragon Ball game on his XBOX 360 when I was at age from 5 to 7 I can't remember the age or the game and it doesn't matter. Point is Dragon Ball has been apart of most of my life. I watched Dragon Ball years later in 2015 I binged all of it from OG Dragon Ball to the end of Z and then followed up with Super weekly episodes. I watched both DBS Broly and Super Hero in theathers. I bought the first Manga Box set in December of 2020 and the second box set in summer 2022.I made friends through Dragon Ball I made memories through Dragon Ball I am who I am thanks to Dragon Ball. I will be forever gratefull to Akira Toriyama for every thing he has done. From Dragon Ball to Dr Slump to Sand Land to everything in between. Rest in Piece. I can´t stop watching these video tributes. i feel like i am part of a massive "family", dragonball was a ENORMOUS part of my life growing up. I grew up without a father figure, i was always alone 200% of the time, i was bullied cause i was a quiet person and had dumb glasses and dressed weird, and girls screamed at my face calling me super ugly and such, but when db came out all that sh.t went to space. it was thx to db that i regained to passion to draw again, i remenber so well 12yo me drawing the caracters over and over and over and over again to make them perfect and as close to the show as possible, i draw these caracters for over 27 years now, i reallyy love drawing them with all the love and dedication as i possibly can, this anime helped me trough rough times, i love vegeta´s family as if they were my own, matter of fact i love ALL these caracters as if i created them, speaking of that it was thx to db that 14yo me began to create my own silly caracters and stories, i didn´t cry when i learned that my dad died but when i learned that Akira died it hit hard i feel like i lost a long time friend/uncle/ dad figure why not oh well idk whatelse to say or this would be very long and i bet nobody will read this anyway goodbye akira sensei thx for everything 🥲

Threw up an hour or so after hearing the news when it really set in. I'm still getting misty eyed just thinking about it now, and it almost seems silly to say that over a person you've never even met but it's no exaggeration when people say he quite literally changed their life. It's incredibly difficult to explain how much someone can be directly responsible for shaping who you are as a human being without having ever directly interacted with them. Fly high, Toriyama. In the far reaches of memories buried within millions on earth, you were an angel.
