15% was a good tip in the 90's. In April, I had a smog check for my car, the shop printed a receipt with the 10, 15, 20% tip option...

For the last 6 months, I have been eating out 1-2 times per month. I used to eat out 1-2 times a week. I no longer have any money left over for eating out. Just in the last year, my monthly utility bills have increased 20%, auto insurance is up 25%, gasoline is up 20%, food at grocery stores for me is up 33%. I literally have no money left for non-essentials like eating out.

Forced tipping, service fees, overpriced Sysco food, all the same, favorite dishes removed from the menu, smaller food portions, complete meals gone ( pay extra for salad and everything), unprofessional service staff ( tattooed, body piercing showing, sloppy,), dirty bathrooms = dirty kitchen, understaffed (extra long wait for service). Is it any wonder?

If you go to sit down that’s 20% on top of the menu price, which is already inflated. The tipping culture in the US is ridiculous, even when you get bad service you are still expected to tip. It’s not like the food is amazing, it’s either too salty, greasy, or too sweet. You are probably extending your life by not going!

We've all heard a lot about higher food costs and higher wages, but the soaring rents have affected commercial spaces as well. If a restaurant is paying 50% more rent than before the bug hit, that's killing profit.

A little background on me first: I have no debt; paid off house; make 6 figures; plan to retire next year. I am ‘okay’ financially. I have a busy job so get lazy about cooking etc so order DoorDash once in awhile, but am now thinking because it gotten crazy (I live in California), I may stop. Tired of eating salads, I wanted to cheat with an eight piece chicken from Popeyes: 29 chicken, 5 fries, 4 delivery fee, 2 expanded range fee, 5 service fee, 4 tax, 12 tip = 61 for 8 pieces of chicken and fries…. Yeah, don’t think I’ll be using delivery service much longer…‼️👎🏾🤔🤨

Restaurant prices increased 26% since pandemic. On top of that sales tax went up and you’re expected to tip 20%. So precovid, a restaurant bill is $100 + $10 sales tax + $22 tip = $132. Now that bill is $126 + $12.6 sales tax +$27.72 = $166.32. That’s a $34.32 increase each time you eat out. Things are going up but everyone gets their cut…the restaurant, government, servers. Customers are getting hit by 3 different increases. No wonder they want none of it.

True. Also...I'm working a remodel contract at a big retail store. The middle age folks I work with also open up to me about the digestion issues they are currently experiencing. I would say some people are having to make changes and eat out less and avoid fast food or restaurant food that is heavily cooked with things that could trigger inflammation such as cheap seed oil. At the same time....Nah, lol, they still eat out. But I do love to hand out Underberg herbal bitters ✅

I always favor eating at home d since I can control what I put in the meals and am confident that it won’t harm me in any way I’m aware of. When people around me know I prefer eating at home, they usually feel sorry for me, like I’m no fun and missing out in life. Now I’m so happy to see people started to realize the benefits of eating at home. Food is the best doctor. Healthy food healthy life.

These idiots, (owners and staff) don't wanna do what it takes to be successful. Countless comments and videos, which I'm sure they see themselves, tell them why we as customers stop going. But yet they don't wanna change, so it's on them. Get rid of compulsory fees and tipping, better customer service (your lucky to get a smile from these wait staff), better quality food (make things fresh and to order) if not the process is wrong, cleaner restaurants and bathrooms, if not they're just lazy. All of which is not beyond their control.

Corporate profit from 2020 - 2023 has doubled in only 3 years, which is insanely high for such a short period of time. This is Greedflation. Companies used the supply chain issue as a justification to raise price, now that it's fixed, they don't want to reduce the price. Higher earnings mean they are making more money, which means they are overpricing each items. Ty🙏
