Thanks for the presentation. I wish I had seen it sooner. I went through some changes trying to get saddle bags/luggage /storage for my 350 Meteor. The RE dealers in Thailand being very uninterested on acquiring any accessories for their customers; paid a leather worker a lot of money to make a nice set of side panniers that I could not pit a mounting bracket to. Finally I got a bracket and lockable luggage box from Lazada online.

Where are you heading? I bought my Meteor 350 18 months ago and made my own luggage system, very lightweight as we travel 2 up. We carry about 3kg in each bag which seems to work. I think these bikes are great.

Enjoyed watching .I too fitted a pair of similar pannier rails on my Meteor.Very solidly made and along with a set of front engine guards act as great crash protection for the bike if you unfortunately drop it ( I usually leave in neutral when parking but cos I was on a steep hill left it in first to stop it rolling .Next morning thought I’d warm up the engine while loading it up , forgot it was in first , didn’t depress the clutch , hit the starter and over she went ! No damage apart to my bruised ego.A lesson learned !)

Never park on a slope on a side stand. Did your luggage save the bike from damage?
@pianoboogieman72906 ай бұрын
@@allanb52 Hi Allan ,yes,small scratches on the engine guard and pannier rail but no damage to the actual bike fortunately. Parking on the slope itself wasn’t the problem , as long as you park sideways onto to the slope with the sidestand facing down the bike is very stable.I currently also have a n old Yamaha 1300 Royal Star Venture which only has a sidestand so have to adopt this technique.The problem wasn’t so much the slope but my divvy forgetful brain !! Long time ago used to ride a Goldwing ( not a light bike ) and once tried to ride off with it still chained to a lampost .If you’ve ever tried extricating yourself from under a great lump like that it’s no fun ! I now always use one of those curly fluorescent jobs you attach to your levers to remind me the bikes chained up !

Well, those look just the ticket! I would have to comment that the latest Royal Enfield motorcycles really hit the spot. They are simple to work on and have a great range of practical kit to make a basic bike, into a tourer! I'm really enjoying your preparations. (With a bit of experience of the old "Nightshift hangover" from days gone by,) I can say with certainty, "You did well!"

Rest Day Rider, you've done a great job fitting the carriers and panniers and I too had problems getting the top bolts back on the rear suspension units when I took mine out! I see your Supernova now has a fair bit missing now though but if you aren't carrying a pillion it makes perfect sense. Look forward to watching your touring vids. Happy Riding. LE

I have taken off the screen, the pillion pad, the rear rack and changed the seat to a black tourer, that's the fabulous thing about these bikes, there's so much customisation and after market kit available. 😊

I think the choice of soft panniers is a good one . They look good, are lighter and there is less risk of injury to your feet/legs if you had a drop. Very impressive what you are accomplishing as a new, mature rider. Cheers and stay safe, Dan. 👍🏍🇨🇦

@@restdayrider Hi there, the pannier bags, there is a seems to be no rhyme nor reason for fitting, thanks for your time
@restdayrider2 жыл бұрын
@@BikerPagan so, the bags I have had some straps I don't use, but the way I fit them is : Undo one side fully, so there is just one side attached , then open the velcro vent at the bottom of the bags and slide the bag onto the base of the mounting bracket, then pass the back panel you unzipped round the back and re-zip up the side, now the bag is held on at the base and the back. Then pass the two straps that clip the top closed over the top bar of the frame before closing, that's a belt and braces. That seems to work for me. 😊
