I've been suffering with this all my adult life, (I'm 61), and one of the things that has often given me instant relief is laying in certain positions. One position is like the yoga "child" position - legs folded up underneath you when facing down, (I use a little pillow to support my head). The other position is laying on my tummy almost like in recovery position. Sometimes the relief is immediate, maybe only for half an hour but even that is blissful after the constant sleep disruption. I have also been taking gentle iron for years with, initially, huge success but I now take more of it and get less and less success, and of course, you have to be careful not to overdose on iron. Overall, I live my life with a constant headache through lack of sleep; every other aspect is healthy, I keep exercised and fit, eat a good diet, don't smoke or drink, cope fairly well with other stresses, but the lack of sleep is the one thing that messes up my health.

RLS forces you to move your legs, modulating the sensations associated with RLS. Most common are tingling, aching, shooting pain, itch you can’t scratch, pins and needles, cold or hot feeling... So when you move your legs, it goes away for about 5-10 seconds. From personal experience: magnesium pills, iron, heating/cooling pads, sleeping potions, compression, massages....help. Some outside help will be exercising, decrease coffee intake, physical therapy etc. But the most common theory is iron deficiency

@aahsigh870611 ай бұрын
It typically occurs at the nap hour, and if you are in an environment whereby the room conserves heat too well, then the best approach is adapting a before nap time workout ethic routine of your choice for an hour and also remember to keep the dry air out during the summer the best way you know how or winter time using the thermo control with the "fan" control setting on "auto" fan setting simultaneously and not "on". Dry fan air will dissipate at auto setting, and it's good for the lungs when you do your work out in your room at night and before bed. That's my conclusion and cure after 38+ years, too. It is the average age experience I've noticed. Human evolution wasn't meant for energy saving high-tech rooms, which trap dry air in rather to the contrary outdoor experience. Who even gets cured off of restless leg syndrome on a couch rather than outdoors doing stuff and then napping in the forest somewhere. I am serious about this. It's a cure on my behalf in every season of the year and counting. My time for a workout is at the midnightght mark to 1am. It is too cold outside to open windows and dangerous too. unpredictable too if you live with your loved ones.
@aahsigh870610 күн бұрын
So far, so good, and a disclaimer is that I have a thermo unit that includes a humidity control setting involved together with heat or cold or circulation setting for the comfort zone level prefered setting to the RLS free threshold and it is 55 percent humidity only at nap time. Do not confuse this with portable cheap humidifiers, which all have a whole different configuration which need water and is not good for individuals with pre- existing medical conditions or cause mold. ❤❤ I turn it back to 45 percent humidity setting at the daylight hours.

Look into food intolerance. You could potentially have food sensitivities that deplete you of certain nutrients. Gluten being a big one. I have this and it came on by taking antidepressants, a whole variety of them. I cold turkey myself off of them. I was given meripix for RL for 15 years. It worked at first but eventually made it worse. I weaned of that using Zeolite. That helped a lot, everytime I felt them coming on I would take heaping teaspoon of zeolite in water and with in minutes they would go away. Didnt need the medication anymore. Then I discovered that potassium really helped. We need 4500 mg per day and majority of people don't get near that. I also added large doses of b1, bentiamine, that is really doing something too. I believe RS has something to do with sugar and metabolism. If you notice eating high sugar foods will bring them on. So nice to feel relaxed now, and I'm sure potassium really helped with that. As potassium helps with sugar metabolism. Hope this helps you, RL are horrid.

If I get three to four hours of sleep each night I am lucky. This disease runs in families with my elder brother, niece, nephew and sister all suffering to various degrees. I was sent to a “quack,” psychologist, and was told I have OCD, and I am bipolar. Not getting enough sleep is emotional straining .. But Bipolar probably can’t be diagnosed in a ten min session. Im not educated on the subject, but common sense must come in to play here at some point. I’m not a Doctor but I have done quite well on common sense . Gabipintin is something I haven’t tried but ambian is something I have and I thought it worked most of the time. but supposedly it’s like crack on the street and not given out anymore. I’ve now been going on three years with very little sleep. Im sure the quack would have me committed to a new government mental health hospital and in a straight jacket on who knows what medicine and pissing in diapers. I choose to newer enter that place again.. I’ve had to quit work so I can’t get some sleep. I feel electricity is moving through my leg and it travels to my arms. I find walking around at night calms it down in me. but doesn’t help on the sleep side. Believe me I have completed about this for years with all kinds of Doctors. Yes I’m probably a bit crazy by day four without sleep. Do you know of a Doctor in the Dallas are that’s well versed on this? I would be so great-full. God bless ,

How about taking vitamin B1, potassium and getting leg massage to flush the lactic acid buildup.

Hi Lori, I take those meds too, maximum dosage. I’m trying out the Carnivore diet (zero carb) to see what it does. Gut brain connection is very important (a lot of RLS patients have IBS), your cholesterol and insulin levels are crucial for you brain as well. The diet should fix all these to correct levels. Make sure you have enough magnesium (most people are deficient) and that it’s balanced out with your salt intake (book: The Salt Fix). Having sufficient vitamin D is crucial as well as is iodine ( Perfect Iodine Activation Products Canada, a non toxic safe formula - look up Ian Clark on KZbin. For the carnivore diet look up Dr. Ken D. Berry and Dr. Shawn Baker. It’s a lifestyle change! Hope this info helps, do the research!
