You have really inspired me to get into mini's. I have been a corvette fan for years and currently have a 1973. I love the uniqueness of the vettes and the minis look super fun to work on and are also so special. Keep up the good work and look forward to learning more from you.

Really like the simple wire harness look, make's look really clean.

It is an absolute perfect combination of old and new tec. I love how clean it looks and therefore a big RESPECT from me for your enthusiasm to build such great Minis. If I had the chance to build mine this way I would be proud like a god. Thanks for sharing all this with us. Maybe one day I can convert my SPI here in Germany similar and keep it street legal. Would love to drive it.

Thank you for the kind words. I worked really hard to make this just right. If you ever convert your SPI let me know. I’d love to help out with fuel injection parts!

And all your hard work lead to a gorgeous Mini so I would be happy to have your knowledge on my side when I do the reconversion of the SPi which is currently a Hif44 carbureted one. I also wrote you an Mail some days ago so how to get in contact with you in the best way without social media? @@classicminidiy

Great video Cole, very constructive words on the other "turbo kits" available.
@classicminidiy7 ай бұрын
Thanks Elliot! I really like the idea of tons of people producing kits, and people having options but I also think there is a lot to be desired on the Jet Motors kit in its present state.

Hi Cole. Great video I had a 1290 turbo a series engine using a tiny T2 style turbo. Fully stock bottom end (excluding bigger high comp pistons) and stock "non E" gearbox and clutch. I made 79KW at 0.7 bar of boost (at a DA of 6500ft). Any more boost and I would start lifting the head on the stock studs. Not anything that you are pushing but considering that all I did was slap a turbo on and tune it on a frankenstein efi kit I made myself.

Thanks for the information regarding Bags Sports Fabrication but damn, the prices are ridiculous 😂

Since you mentioned it as a drag car I'd love to know the 1/4 mile time 😂 great build
@classicminidiy7 ай бұрын
Hahaha to be honest I don't have any plans even remotely to drag this car. That's a lot of abuse for the engine to do something I didn't really build it for. However I expect if it could effectively put the power down to the ground it could get some pretty good numbers!

a man who has pulled his engine so many times he doesnt even use protection when putting it back in. ballsy

On the fenders and such? Yeah my thought process was always “if the engine hoist fails, a couple of blankets aren’t gonna save anything” 😂

@@classicminidiy I was more thinking about accidentally scratching something, esp with that fancy new paintjob. No matter how careful I am, I always manage to screw something up lol

Nice build! Take a look at your K&N oil filter. I readed somewhere that they are not the best ones.
@classicminidiy7 ай бұрын
Thanks Stefan! The K&N filters are just a rebrand of an American WIX brand filter. These filters are perfectly "average" and work fine. This filter also is going to be very short lived as I plan to do the first oil change only after about 150-200 miles.
@StefanMiniCooper7 ай бұрын
@@classicminidiy I didn't know that! But I believe there was a test on The Mini Forum where the K&N was the 'baddest'.

Hi Cole, Thank you for the video, the build is looking fantastic. Would you consider selling a kit on your website that includes all the components like the throttle body and oil cooler etc with fittings to make it easy to purchase the equipment in one go?
@classicminidiy7 ай бұрын
Hey Thomas! Thanks so much. I have considered it a few times but the logistics of stocking, carrying, and supporting a full kit like that are outside my ability right now. Being just a single guy in the garage I wouldn't have enough time to provide the level of support I would want to for a full kit.
@thomasnichols39927 ай бұрын
@@classicminidiy no worries, thank you for getting back to me. I am after the fly by wire throttle body. Do you have any detailed recommendations on the pedal setup to go with this?
@classicminidiy7 ай бұрын
I am actually working on a bolt-in pedal assembly that mounts in the original pedal location. That's still a few weeks out so if you need something sooner you can use a VW polo pedal, or retrofit your own using a Honda/Acura pedal position sensor. I have some details of this at the bottom of this article I wrote on my Substack. substack.classicminidiy.com/p/classic-mini-efi-3-drive-by-wire
