The difficult point was that the rust was very deep in many places, and it was necessary to be extremely careful. I cleaned the surface with liquid, washed and oiled it. I used sandpaper from 120 grit to 600 grit to clean the surface. To correct the cutting edge of the knife and shape I used a belt grinder machine. Due to that the tang of the knife was very short, I used an iron rod and fixed everything well with welding. Next, I cleaned the weld and proceeded to the handle. For the handle, I chose leather, brass, ash and walnut wood. Before assembling, I use glue for a more reliable fastener.
After 1 day, I started processing the handle. When the main form was ready. I started on the handle head. I used leather and brass to make it the same with the beginning of the handle.
For the knife, I made a leather scabbard, this type of scabbard I did for the first time. Sorry for the mistakes. As usual, I made a test for you. I hope you enjoy this restoration video.
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!
