Did this a couple years ago on some brown headlights. Still looks great after 2 years in the sun all day. Did not use adhesion promoter.

I'm definitely doing this on several of my vehicles. I've already bought replacement units for two of them, but this will give me backups to keep in my shop.

Hi Chris, the PRD510 looks a nice and a good quality gun it certainly atomised the clear really well on those headlights, you should have added a drop of basecoat from the car colour in the clear mate just to colour code the headlamps you would be one cool dude then😎😅😉 I've seen some people say you shouldn't use adhesion promoter on headlamps then some say you should, there seems to be a lot of conflicting info out there on which is best🤔I trust what you do brother so if I do any headlamps I will use it🙏👍John UK

Yes, I did the "sand and polish" method for years, only to find out these plastic headlights come from the manufacturer with a clear UV protective coating that eventually fails, causing the yellowing. Now I sand, then spray automotive clear coat everytime. Thanks for the video 👍

IMO the only way to get them to last.. sand with 600 adhesion promoter, and clear. everything else becomes a maintenance.

Did this 2 years ago on car and has been outside in 105+ degree heat not garaged with high UV index and also driven in snow for a season. headlights still look brand new. Nevermind the people who will say that 2K will crackle the plastic....just dont use cheap clear. That simple. They are probably using rustoleum or some crap for $4 a can and wonder why it ruins the headlight.
@GarageNoise2 ай бұрын
Right on ! Yeah, gotta use good 2k clear and it will last.
@jensz93602 ай бұрын
@@GarageNoise Also may want to tell your viewers to be careful messing around with 2K, that stuff will mess your lungs up if you dont wear a proper mask. Some people who paint will not wear one, but I wouldnt risk it. If you are a pro or a hobbyist and mess with 2K a lot to paint cars best to wear a full face mask or respirator system, tons of ventilation, preferably with some kind of fan, I would even go as far as recommending a full painters suit. 2K can have some nasty chemicals. People attempting this should just make sure to get proper protection for themselves, and also to mind the drying/curing times. To some it may seem excessively cautious but anyone who has sprayed it knows its some nasty stuff.

Hey Chris I’m having a fisheye/unknown contamination issue on base and clear. I shot you a very long in depth email regarding it. I’m not sure if it is from the air compressor, the air in the shop, or dirt or anything else. Any help or tips would be very appreciated. Thanks

I am pro 2k clear headlights. What do you think of those who say 2k is bad, polishing and ceramic/cerakote, ppf is the best?
@GarageNoise6 ай бұрын
Anything other than clear coat is just maintenance. It doesn't last long maybe a few months
@jensz93602 ай бұрын
I agree, I have tried the ceramic route...waste of time and only looked good for 2 months. Headlight yellowed and finally got fed up and went with the 2K clear and 2 years later still looking new and the car is in 105+ degree heat with no garage. All the cerakote and junk like that is just hyped up junk. Waste of time.
