Try sniffing strong (safe!) food scents. I used a jar of instant coffee and a couple other things from the kitchen, I think it was mint and kim chi. Hold it right up to your nose and sniff away. It worked for me, however, not sure if it worked only because I started doing it the same night I noticed I couldn't really smell anything.

Intranasal insulin cannot get in US. FDA does not allow pharmacy to make. So how would you propose someone with NO taste or smell since covid to attempt this treatment?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
@lynnees9828 Жыл бұрын
Well, still no smell. ENT is working on my packed ear as she tried to suck it out to no avail. Okay, I give. I will try your path. How can I get the insulin inhaler? What about this Ozempic? I wondered if they meant in their research about alcohol and loss of smell if it was really the sugar component as alcohol is loaded. I noticed I crave sugar because my tongue senses it, along with salty foods. Have sublingual B and zinc now. We shall see.

Do you need a prescription to get insulin spray? I recovered my sense of taste and smell after Covid bout in February, although my favorite smell, coffee, is still distorted sadly… just smells like poop. Interestingly, after someone accidentally blew cigarette smoke in my face two weeks ago, I smell smoke all the time now. Very disconcerting!!!!!

My sense of smell decreased over 15 years ago. I knew I had a viral sinus infection but my sinuses seemed extremely dry but inflamed. After that I lost about 50% of my sense of smell. It's amazing how much I miss the depth of smell, like the leaves in the fall. I can only smell them slightly. The loss of smell is specific to certain things, other smells are fine like citrus. I'm a clinical educator and was still doing patient care 15 years ago. I could smell urine but not bowel movements. Doesn't seem like a bad thing to lose but in healthcare it all matters. I talked to another woman with the same exact problem and she told me she couldn't tell when her grandchildren's diapers needed to be changed.

Wait, Dr. Berg 40 UNITS? This should only be done under close observation in a safe environment, 40 units will defiantly cause Hypoglycemia. I’m an insulin dependent DM1 and can’t imagine a relatively healthy person with a working pancreas ingesting 40 units. For perspective, my pump distributes less than 2 units per hour, and when I bolus, or use insulin during a meal, I calculate the carbohydrates and “cover them” with insulin. So let’s say my blood glucose is 100, and my meal has 15 grams of carbohydrates, I would use approximately 0.7 units of insulin to stabilize my blood glucose/blood sugar.

ever notice that wihle chewing food and you run water over your hands, it heightens your sense of taste? Like cartoons where you see them rubbing their bellies- friction on the inside of hands seems to cause food to actually taste better. Any science to that?
