Beautiful Job!! Another great Ben Hogan club !!! It is a great question, do you re shaft or place back original shaft back in?
@BradMeehan Жыл бұрын
Excellent question, Scott. At this point, I'm doing single clubs for the channel, but I normally put the old shaft back in to keep it original. Modern shafts and these heads would be a great upgrade. You'd have to account for the weight loss if you really removed a lot. I have a video about weight loss.

Could you plate 2 clubs at once? And would you have to double the amp in doing so?
@BradMeehan2 жыл бұрын
Definitely. Real estate in the tank is key. You need distance between the anode and the club heads. I would experiment with the additional load, but I think a settling of double is too high. Start with the same and adjust a tiny bit if current from there.

Have you changed your red paint? It looks more metallic or possibly translucent? Awesome work as usual!

It was an accident. I liked the color of it in the jar but didn't realize it was more of a candy, transparent paint. I'm back to old-school red now.

Have u ever had the Activator solution make what looks like burns on the metal? I’m having the problem even as low as 2 Volts Keep pumping them out love the content and awesome work!
@BradMeehan2 жыл бұрын
I have encountered that and I'm not sure what causes it. Can you confirm it happens everywhere or just in spots? I'm trying to figure out if it's reacting to a bare steel spot or the remaining nickel itself.
@dpack1225902 жыл бұрын
Hard to say I’ve always stopped as soon as it started. Figured I was doing something incorrectly
@teapeg2 ай бұрын
Super job but I would love you to test it out with all your restored clubs and let a regular player use it a lot to see how long it lasts for and how well the newly plated nickel or chrome lasts and its durability.

What do you use for an air compressor??
@BradMeehan Жыл бұрын
My air compressor sucks. It's a tiny one that runs constantly. If you don't have one, I'd recommend buying the biggest one you can afford
@kirbymarsh Жыл бұрын
@@BradMeehan mine is small too, plus it doesnt have the power to hit the face of the club without any pressure. I went thru a ten lb bag of sand on one face with minimal results

How long is the nickel sinking voltage and time?
@BradMeehan11 ай бұрын
Around 3.5 volts, 1.5 amps for 30 minutes. Longer if you want it thicker.
@윤솔-l6y11 ай бұрын
@@BradMeehan Thank you for the comments. Can I know the nickel voltage that activates electrolytic degreasing even in brush plating? And you can laser work from ready-made products to iron wedges, but the plating you're doing right now comes off like paper if you laser. Have you tried laser?
@BradMeehan11 ай бұрын
@user-us9mw7ni8l i have not tried laser. The electrocleaner uses 10 volts with the brush

I wonder what the stuff on the back of the club was? I picked up a set of MacGregor irons and two of them had that same exact stuff on it
@BradMeehan Жыл бұрын
It's lead tape to make them heavier.

@@BradMeehan that makes sense. I’d never seen it used like that. I build clubs and I’ve used it sparingly, never like that. Good to know

My local auto store has a cheap kit with a couple of sisal pads and the various coloured bars of compound..but its for either a grinder or corded drill (not sure).could i get away with that on my old cobras?? Or would I need the revs of a bench grinder? The plating looks amazing..is that just regular dc power supply commonly used by electronics hobbiest? love this channel..liked and subbed
@BradMeehan2 жыл бұрын
I would only worry about the how much load you're putting on your drill. I will run and run and run. Nearly every estate sale (if you're in the US) has a bench grinder or you can get one at Harbor Freight for cheap. If you're going to spend money, i'd put it towards something you can use for a long time.
@raindogred2 жыл бұрын
@@BradMeehan yeah your right I will invest in a cheap bench grinder. i used to own one mostly for sharpening drill bits and knives etc..handy to have..getting me one :)

Holy lead tape Batman! As if hitting Hogan blades wasn't hard enough.😂
@BradMeehan Жыл бұрын
It's strange to see how many clubs from the 70's / 80's actually have lead tape on them. For me, they feel heavy enough without them. The good part of this was the lead tape really helped protect what was underneath it.
