Thank you for this in depth teaching. Question… wouldn’t Boaz be Naomi’s kinsman-redeemer? That would require Boaz to take Naomi as a wife to continue the blood line of Elimilech. Seems like the teaching is skipping a generation.

The unnamed man at the city gate is a closer relative to Naomi and therefore the responsibility falls to him first. Boaz is a more distant relation. Thus, the conversation between Boaz and the unnamed redeemer at the city gate. Does that help?
