Being that I'm nearly 54, one of my bucket list vehicle's took me most of my life to find, because of the rust belt state i live in, and not really wanting to haul the thing a thousand miles home. As a kid, my grandpa had an old military Jeep on the farm that he would drive all over the property, with us in it. We got to drive it at around 13, but he sold it to an uncle by the time i was 16, and i really missed it. Last March i found a 1954 m38a1 Jeep, around the same age as the one on the farm, and in good shape. I was fortunate that the lady just wanted it out of her garage, because she inherited it from her dad's estate. This old Jeep was bought from a governot auction back in the 80's, but was never titled and driven on the rusty Michigan road's of the US. I have taken it completely apart, but had to get my good knee replaced that the surgeon kinda messed up a bit, but it's gonna be okay, now being that it's winter, and i can watch these video's, I'm fine until the snow vacates. Don't give up hope on finding that bucket list vehicle, because they're out there, you just have to keep looking, or be like Kyle, and make a whole new ride out of a few different rides, and mega sheet metal talent. G-d bless, the chicken truck is gonna be a monster one day, eating all the free range chickens lol.

Hi Kyle. That profile gauge looks like some sort of medieval torture device. It also looked like it worked really well for its intended purpose. Picking a "bucket car" is pretty tough. In high school most of the guys drove '60s muscle cars because they were still plentiful and pretty cheap (if you can believe that). There are so many from that era that I wouldn't mind owning. I think if I were to pick a car that I really like and is a little bit unique it would be a Ford 2-door Ranch Wagon. 1957 is my favorite year but I also like the shoebox versions. I would want to do a frame-off rebuild with a modern engine & trans (no stinking automatic though). Something from a wrecked late model Mustang would be sweet!

Even though you use the term “roughed in” to my untrained eye the “roughed in” fender looks absolutely amazing compared to what you started with. Unbelievable how you transformed that piece of mangled steel back into a usable body panel without any bondo 😱 You are too modest when you use the term “roughed in”! OCD is a curse but it needs to be right and you are indeed the metal magician 🤩 Totally in awe of your skills ❤ - Michael Uk 🇬🇧 (BTW @8:03 Loving the “Tallahassee Toe Tapper Technique” my next favourite to the “Praying Mantis” which you very kindly demonstrated in another recent video Mr Crazy Genius 😂😂)

In late 1974 to late 1975 in my early years of service (before gas became too expensive even for the department) I'd driven around for a few months when available in a Dodge Monaco with the 440 cid, duel quad carbs, 727 torqueflite, a super heavy duty front torsion bar suspension and heavy duty rear leaf suspension package. The rear differential was also built for heavy duty abuse too. Our jurisdiction always bought last years models so no matter if it was a Ford, Mercury, Dodge, Plymouth Chevy or Pontiac, it was new and/ but last year's model. These units were not assigned to any particular person, you just drove them because they like yourself were assigned to an area. It was a toss up as to which I preferred between the '70 Ford Torino with the 429 Police heavy duty package and the Dodge with the aforementioned package. It was hard to decide which one pushed your "package" up to your throat the hardest and longest. Needless to say by 1977 those rocket sleds vanished and we were indoctrinated to stop chasing after 90MPH and in '76 & 77 we were reduced to running around in Dodge Coronet's & Plymouth Fury's. They had 318's in them and even with the antipollution stuff stripped, they could barely out run anything built before 1975. We complained bitterly too because most of us were 6 foot or better and even with the driver's seat all the way back we were crunched in these down sized plain jane bench seated interiors. (we had no idea how badly things could become because by the mid to end of the 1980's we were rolling around in even smaller Dodge Aspens and Plymouth Volares. (We even circulated the rumors that it was the bosse's way of sending us all into early retirements. In '79, '80 & 81 our comfort levels were improved slightly because for those three years AMC must have had a fire sale and piled on 3 years worth of '78 Matadors with 360 cid motors and heavy duty suspension. After that we drove mostly in Ford Crown Vics & Chevy Caprice's until those horrid Plymouth Volarés and Dodge Aspen's took us into the early '90's. After that it was strictly crown Vic's until 2000. As far as choosing my personal bucket choice favorite.... I'll take 1937 Grapewine, dark red, Studebaker President coupe, with the Straight 8, 3 speed manual, dual mount fender spares, rumble seat, Crank out rear windscreen, optional leather interior in light grey, optional real wood grained Dashboard and widow trim and 4 4" wide whitewall tires. I like "putting on the Ritz"!.
