In this video I restore, sharpen and use an old wooden scrub plane. This tool is used to hog off large amounts of material quickly when dimensioning boards of wood by hand.

The iron is from Hoppe & Tesche, an old company from Wuppertal, Germany. The company was founded in 1909 and went out of busines in 1972. Together with the cities Remscheid and Solingen Wuppertal forms the "Bergisches Städtedreieck" (city triangle) within the "Bergisches Land" (Bergisch Country) which is until today well known for their handtool industry.

Another grand bit of work. Congratulations on your 100k subscribers on the KZbin, best make some space on the handrail for your silver Play button. So I was a jeweller for a good while and I think you might benefit from making yourself some buff sticks, it's basically your abrasive paper wrapped around a 1" x 1/4" (there abouts anyway) piece of wood, once you've wrapped it around the wood rough side out, wrap a strip of tape around the middle then you have what is pretty much a double-ended "sandpaper file" and as you wear the paper away uou can just peel back and tear off to reveal a fresh later underneath. They're a good tool for all forms of metalwork really

@@EoinReardon not a bother sir, glad to support quality. From the looks of things it's literally just a case of claiming your award, I just googled "how to claim silver play button" and one of the first results takes you to a page with a button which I assume then takes you through the claiming process.

A plane you didn't know you had? Your most important tool is your workshop. Most of us spend a lifetime building and assembling our dream workshops, getting them just right, getting them filled with all of the multitude of bits we need, and a few it turned out we didn't truly need. Building that workshop is a labor of love, like building a workbench, but times ten. Yet there you are, apparently the inheritor of someone else's life's work building that workshop. Along with inaccessible fancy bits like a $1500 Tormek sharpening system that most hobbyists could never afford. I do like your videos, you are an engaging young man, a bright spark. I am glad to see you giving respect and honor to the labor that built that shop. But it isn't YOUR shop, not yet. So far, you're a squatter. What will you do to make it your own?
