It is always magical, what you can archive with a little nail polish remover and moisturizer. Most of the times, the cracks just cracked polish and under that, the leather is in great condition. In my experience, the patina usually stays. It is really worth to buy used shoes if the upper is not scratched. I recently bought a pair of gunboats, I stripped the old polish, the chestnut finish come off and an unusual, reddish brick-like colored surface appeared. The previous user used a bad quality cream in the wrong color. They look great now.

First video I've watched without the narration and I was lost.... Without you taking me through the process, it wasn't the same. I felt the shoe was destined to be beautifully restored.... That's what you do everytime.... Its just better for me when you talk through the process.... I feel empowered to take the steps you do. Overall though another elegant Sotto masterpiece. Keep it up brother

@@zer8845 I am from South Africa. The product I purchase here bis called Bioscrub. It is an antiseptic skin cleanser normally sold at large Chemists or drug stores where you go with medical prescriptions. The product is used in hospitals to control infections. Many brands start normally with the prefix Hibi (Hibitane, etc).

As a follow up to my previous post. I have found a pair of Walnut AE Strands on Ebay for about $49. They are in desperate need of resole and some inside heel work and of course new heels. I'm gonna put the cart before the horse and work on the uppers, for practice on my first shoe project. Then I will send them off to Trenton & Heath for new soles, heels and toe shields...This will take some time to complete but I'm up for the project. Thanks Preston for this video. I will be using it as a guide.

Preston, Thank You for your generosity in sharing the videos you produce. The music does not intrude upon your clear steps and explanations! I've searched, but so far have not discovered how to take indentations out of shoes which have been stacked upon one another. Does this involve soaking them to plump the leather, or is it some other magic trick? Bless you and those you love. I particularly enjoyed the video of the restoration of your father's shoes.
