Restoring old hunting pocket knife. Rusty knife restoration

This time I am restoring a very old hunting pocket knife. Who didn't say much. Watch the video till the end and you will be surprised.

To keep the history, I would've used the original handles. This is just my opinion and I respect your decision to use wood. Nicely done regardless.

Техника выполнения работ, как всегда, на высоте. А вот замена накладок - большой минус. Потеря аутентичности привела к тому, что нож стал смотреться грубой, невнятной подделкой. Тем более, накладки же были целыми! Их только и нужно было помыть и установить на место.

Реставрация это замена и восстановление утраченного. Если это реновация то стоит заменить частично утроенные или доработать имеющиеся до современных стандартов. Накладки из пластика смотрелись лучше. Я бы изготовил по возможности новые лезвия в замен сточенных из прочной нержавейки. И наточил остальные лезвия.

I myself liked the original handle. They did look cheap, but they had lasted this long. The wood is definitely beautiful. I just thought the originals gave the knife it's character.

In my opinion you have not restored the knife but manufactured a new one utilizing used parts. Bad form, especially when you bill yourself as a restoration site.

По железным шайбам, клёпкам, пластинам и полиэтиленовым накладкам, это после Перестройки, 1985. Точнее читайте на Ганзе. А если коротко: Это "нож охотника складной производственного объединения (ПО) Октябрь, город Ворсма, Горьковская область". Ныне Нижегородская область. Клеймо ПО Октябрь - это "птица Сирин". Сам завод получил свое название ПО Октябрь и это клеймо только в 1975 году. PS: Автору пофиг на историю. И на нож. Убил и нож, и хромовое покрытие на всех металлических деталях. Теперь нож будет ещё сильнее ржаветь. PPS: It's Not a bit of RESTORATION. It's your custom design.

The old blue plastic looked pretty cheap in my opinion. In my opinion, wooden handles are much more beautiful and look better

It's antique now, though was made in 1985-2000. "Pocket knife for a hunter", made by PO OKTABR (Production Association October), town Vorsma, Gorky oblast, Soviet Union (USSR).

The main thing is that the mechanism was restored. Not ideal as the damage is very deep and the metal is thin. I replaced the handles because I think the wood is much better than the old plastic. Everyone has their own vision. Thank you for your comment.
