Restoring Polycarbonate Lenses

Does your RV or automobile have yellow or foggy headlight lenses? I bought this very inexpensive polycarbonate (plastic Lense) restoration kit, because I had a Plastic lense for the gauges on my 1976 Chevy pickup that is in real bad shape. Severely scratched to the point that I couldn’t see the gauges. Did this kit work? Watch to find out.

Great demo. I used a headlight restoral kit on my 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan plastic headlights. The results were impressive! The only thing I did not do was wax them. So in the Spring, I will treat the lights again and then wax them.

I did this on my class A and also my SUV with a similar product from the auto parts store about a year ago, which also included a small can of clear coat. It worked great. 😡🙂✝

Funny, I used the same kit on my Jeep. Was going to buy new headlights and said for this price I'll try. It worked. Just remember to put some wax on after your finished.

Polycarbonate is cool stuff. I have a tube of polycarbonate that I use occasionally and I always freak out when i drop it on the shop floor but no need to worry that stuff even so thin is very durable.

It scratches easy, but it cleans up easy too.

Maybe. Just be careful those skylights get pretty brittle.

OK let's do this repair once and only once. 1 pack 00 Steel wool. 1 can automotive clear coat glosss. Sand all the oxidized plastic off. Clean lense with degreaser tape it and shoot it with clear. Do a tack coat 2 times before you lay a thick coat. You will see the scratches disappear as the lense is perfectly clear again. Never buff again. Clear coat seals the plastic and will not fade over time. 4 yrs on the ghosted Subaru lenses now. 😮

@ I take that back! You can clear coat if you don’t go to polishing compound. Must have some scratches for paint to stick. Sorry.
