I just snagged one of these at the thrift for $12 (usd). Your video helped me a ton, thank you so much! Now to sew!

These are good workhorses and sew a range of fabrics well. Particularly good on heavier ones. They are not sought after by collectors for whatever reason and are known as The Tractor because they are not the quietest machine, even when serviced. Very simple to operate.

The thing I love about my 328 is that I can use two needles side by side instead of needing to buy twin needles which are expensive in the UK.

Would it be possible for you to make a video showing how to change motor brushes and other motor maintenance on the 328? Thank you. Edit: Nevermind, I found the other video where you showed this!

Thank you very much for posting this video! For some reason, the 328, 329 machines are not really discussed all that much. They're wonderful machines and deserve to be much better known. The one in your video really is a beautiful machine in what looks like a beautiful table. I was delighted to see this video. If you do a video on changing and adjusting the belt, I'll be an avid audience member for that.

Thank you. I intend on doing a video on changing the belt as the one on this machine definitely needs changing so keep an eye out for that.

Components of these and other machines like the 201P were made in Kilbowie, Scotland. Machines were only assembled in Penrith, NSW.

What grease do you use please? Is the Singer grease in the white tube OK for the old Singer motors?
@InStitches
@InStitches Жыл бұрын
Hi. The Singer grease is fine to use. I use Fenwicks high speed grease except for any motor bearings.

Thankyou for this wonderful video, just bought home a 328P (no table) from op shop, it's a beautiful machine, runs fine. I'm thankful to have watched this though as it will allow me to look after (and understand) her better :) (I'm Aussie) I would guess "Tas Oak" or similar for timber, the aussie hardwoods are poo to get a super fine finish on but they're tough, other than where cracking/splitting is involved, however, I think this table had good reason to crack given your description given. Look forward to watching the rest of this series

Cleaned and lubricated one today that was donated to the Hospice shop to be sold. Unfortunately no manual and accessories with it. Just the regular foot. After seeing this video, I need to go back and oil the missed points.

Does this machine has any nylon parts inside?
@InStitches

From memory, the gears are all metal in this model. I think there is a nylon block for adjusting the motor belt in some of these models. Thanks.

I just got one in a cabinet with manual and . how do you explain clockwise/counterclockwise to a generation raised with digital clocks ?
@InStitches
@InStitches Жыл бұрын
Nice one. Good point about the clockwise /anticlockwise. I'll ask my 10 year old niece next time I see her and see if she knows. I think her grandparents taught her how to read an analogue clock so she may know already. I think the younger generation (and some older people) refer to screw tightening/loosening as righty tighty and lefty loosy. Thanks.

The thrift stores in my country/state seperate the sewing machines from their needed accessories. That is a complete diservice to their customers. If they want to sell seperate them to mke more money, maybe they should just keep all together so their customer will have everything they need with the machine. Of course, also - when the sewing machines are donated - a family member of the former oweners don't recognize they've failed to include the attachments with their donations. I was lucky one time. I purchased what I thought was only a sewing cabinet (with electric lift). It wqas about a we4ek before I discovered that all the attachments for the sewing macine were in the drawers of the cabinet. What a wonderful surprise that was. The sewing machine was nn Elna and I know at the time they were selling the machine (in the cabit) the electric lift cabinets were costing about $,000 and the sewing machine for aqround $800. I know this because my ex hubby cought me the sewing machine a few years earlier and we paid over $800 for the sewing machine alone. The hubby was too cheap to buy the cabinet. When I found this cabinet years later for $69 at the Goodwill, I did not balk at the price. Imagine my surprise when I discovered what was sold to me inside the cabinet. People these days are realizing there is a value to all the sewing machine cabinets that people are giving away. They are now charging $$$ for them and get it. People are buying up these old sewing machines and they need teh cabinets that go with them.

It looks like the machine and base are meant to come out of the cabinet for use as a table top machine.
@InStitches
@InStitches 2 жыл бұрын
The base is screwed in to the table with many screws so that is not very practical unfortunately but would be good if it did have the option.
