I agree with you about the size of the forest. Every forest of Dawn Redwood that I've seen for sale is in about half the space I think they should have.

Thanks Matt! I don't know yet where this project will take me. However this species needs space to grow. Maybe another huge forest in sight?🙂👍

That was quite a challenge eh? I love it when you really have a good laugh, it’s too rare, but I do understand when you have difficult decisions to make it’s not funny any more. I can’t help thinking it would have been easier to tackle the forest when you first got it, but I know it’s not your way. God bless you, Magnus 🙏✝️. ✌️🇷🇺☮️🇺🇦✌️

Thanks Gaye! You may be right. I am glad I edited out most of the hard decitions now This is a new species to me and it is not known to be hardy to my area. I am careful, maybe too careful? Thanks for beeing honest and thanks for beeing you 🙂👍

HI Magus. good video with lots of useful info. I would like to add my insights as i have been growing Dawn Redwoods for around 8 years in the UK. As you say they like it wetter than most similar leaf shedding types such larch. I add 20% pine bark to the mix similar to the one you mentioned for more water retention. You want to repot each year as they can wen established (2 years) increase their roots by 50% each YEAR resulting in ether lifting themselves out of the pot or cracking the pot open. for this reason don't plant in an incurved pot as they are a b****** (😊very difficult) to get out again. 👍

Thanks Emelie. I do plan to repot again come spring. One out of 5 did not make it, so I need to replace it and possibly change the design to fit the new tree.🙂👍

Thank you Magnus, another really helpful video. Having mentioned the 'organic' soil early in the video, can I ask what mix you used for repotting your Dawn Redwood please?
@greenmachinesweden Жыл бұрын
Thanks Mike! There is a video released not long ago about this years soil mix. It is that very one I used for this forest. The only difference is that some sifted akadama has been added. 1🙂👍

Good morning Magnus. I hear Finland is now a member of NATO and now pray that you will join us very soon. God bless you 🙏✝️. ✌️🇷🇺☮️🇺🇦✌️

Thanks Gaye. I am not sure about it. Always pro global demilitatization. I guess Nato membership is the second best and possible to achieve.🙂👍

Well we have to be realistic, look at the state of the world 🤷🏼♀️

I’ve been given a very similar set up. 5 trees in a tiny pot with no rm for development. Plan is to pu trees in individual pots and grow on for a couple of years before putting back as a forest group. Don’t think there’s an issue having an organic heavy soil for the right species and Redwoods like moisture ( taking into account local conditions) There seems to be too many people sticking almost every type of tree in almost pure Akadama which isn’t necessarily correct

Thanks David. All cuttings is still alive. They will be grown individually for a future grand forest.🙂👍
