Best information so far! I'm waiting for my amplifiers as well. In the meantime I have set my 8.5 dBi antenna to 7 in the app. I will monitor the situation and let you how that went. My hotspot is not in such a dense area. Thanks a lot for all your efforts Daniel.

@@nonfire8856 hi. You should test yourself. It depends on location and your antenna! If you live in a quiet area, you can leave same as before(antenna dbi). If you live in a busy area, you should add 2-3dbi, i guess... Only if you have invalid transactions! If you put more dbi, you cut the power added.....

I've been using my airbuddy with a saw filter on a first gen bobcat with 8db rak and lmr 400 for about four days now and It's improved by around 70% so far so good.

Hi. It has a heatsink behind the board! But is not warm at all! Should go warm only when transmitting(TX)! It uses less than 10miliamps when is receiving(RX)! 👍

Hi. Cannot damage the miner. But it can damage itself(the amp) if you don't have your antenna connected to ground!

Hi Daniel, thank you for your videos! Ibam just starting out and try to understand everything. Is there a reason why you use a different setting in the app than the actual antenna is? I read you have set it to 4 db and your antenna is 5.8. does that give you any advantages? I currently have a 8 db antenna and a 3m cable with 0.31db loss per meter. I have it set to 7 db in the app. -i chose that antenna because my hex neighbor has an 8 db antenna and recieves a lot more beacons than I do and both our antennas are in the same urban environment and same height. I think he uses some kind of ampilfier, thats why I found your videos.

Hi. The "secret" of using less db in the app than your actual antenna gain is if you do that, you will have an extra power! Because the miner will output less power, so that miner power + antenna gain should be equal to 16.5dbi! So 8dbi antenna and 8dbi in app equals 16.5 - 8 = 8.5db miner output power. If you set to 7dbi in app, 16.5 - 7 = 9.5db miner output power! 9.5db + 8db antenna = 17.5db -> better than 16.5! You can put way less dbi in app if you live in an area that is not so populated! As long as you don't have invalid transactions! Hope that you unterstood! Thanks!

@@adaniel69 So in theory, I could use one of these amps and set the TX rate very low to prevent getting false witnesses (I currently get 14 on my beacons without amp) and benefit from the increased Rx by recieving more beacons? I do not have fancy equipment to adjust stuff or do any measurements. - I noticed some of them on aliexpress have airbuddy printed on the pcb, others don't. So I guess some are fakes.

@@noobsalsowinsometimes8350 i was not getting always 14 when sending beacon without amplifier! I don't have good line of sight! With amp, always 14. Except when the challenger is relayed(zero witnesses) or when the network is not working well. And for RX, yes, i started witnessing from far away with the amp!

Hi. I have a 5.8dbi Rak antenna, 5m lmr400, in app i have 4dbi and the amp is on max tx! So 11db/11db!(you cannot set rx, is always 11db!)

Hi. I can't test near to antenna because i don't have adapters(antenna have N connectors and i have only SMA/RP-SMA adapters)! Plus, i have to protect the amplifier from temperatures and weather! 5m lmr400 cable have 0.6dbi loss!

Hi. No, the miner cannot break because there's a capacitor on the input of the miner's rf card! So, is not going big current into the miner's rf port! No worries! Applicable to any amplifier! 👍

@@christianszopinski8219 is for TX. Counterclockwise is MIN(+5db) and clockwise is MAX(+11db). I keep mine on max because without amp i didn't had always 14 witnesses! If you had before 14, you can keep it at MIN!

Hi Daniel. I have 2 same set ups on my roof and my friends roof. On my roof (18m) bobcat 300 6 dbi mcgill 6m lmr 400 airbuddy sawfilter (App 5bdi). On my friends roof (18m) sencecap 6 bdi mcgill 10m lmr400 (App 5dbi). since 3 weeks i am analysing the hotspots.. the result is that the sencecap work better (double of witnesses and make 0,4-0,6 HNT/day). The Hotspot distance are about 90m. when they witness the same hotspot, yes bobcat have better RSSI and better SNR but final result (about half of witness) is that i earn with the bobcat about 0,1-0,2 HNT/day. What do you think about trying only amp without filter or do you have another solution i can try? the amp is on max.. Thank you

Hi. No, is not cancelling each other. This amplifier is bidirectional! So, when miner is listening, the amp is boosting the signal with 11db(RX). Then the miner is sending a beacon, the amplifier is commuting to amplify that beacon(TX) with 5-11db(adjustable). RX and TX are not in the same time! There are some miliseconds between! 👍

Hello, I have an AIRBUDDY amplifier. I turn the screw all the way to the left. My antenna is 8dbi. I update my antenna on the helium site and do 15 dbi, but there is no increase in my income. My income is even lower. heltec brand hotspot keeps leaving port. How can I run this amp and increase my income? Please help me.

Hi. If you put more dbi in the app, you installed the amplifier for nothing! Better remove the amp and put less dbi in app and is an improvement! If you decide to put the amp, pay attention to ground your antenna, let 8dbi in app like your real antenna is and rotate the potentiometer from amp to the right(clockwise)! And install a saw filter between antenna and amp! Only if you have invalid transactions you should add 2-3db in app!(as an attenuator)

I have antenna - 10m LMR400 - amplifier - cavity filter - sensecap miner. Should I put the cavity filter before the amp? Without the amp I am earning, with amp nothing. Green light is on, blue light when it transmits....

Hi. I have in the app 4db(custom antenna) since i installed the antenna(in december)! Didn't modified yet! If you put 1.2db, miner will put more power on antenna, but you can have invalid transactions... If you have invalid transactions, then you have to put a higher value!
