I just appreciate the fact that you took the time to do this, risked the health and safety of your washer, sacrificed these prefolds in the name of science and on behalf of cloth diapering moms everywhere. That is commitment right there. What a surprise some of these results were!!

I’m pregnant and in research mode. Going to binge your videos :) any follow up on the microfiber experiment? I’m still undecided which type is best. TIA!

Wow! I'm really new to looking into cloth diapers, but I was just as surprised as you were! I heard all over "no vaseline". The biggest surprise was the "cloth safe" cream! Now I'm wondering if other "safe" creams really are. Would you be doing another cotton trial with other safe creams? Will you be doing the synthetics one soon? Looking forward to the results from that! Love your channel and the facebook group! Thank you for all the info you give, it's been very helpful in all my research!

I'd love to see micro suede and micro fleece instead of microfiber because the ointments aren't going directly on the microfiber - just to make the experiment more realistic. Also A&D and the red Butt Paste, which are commonly recommended around me 😊

Done! You weren't the only one requesting the microsuede so and I just had to listen, so I ordered some cheepie pocket covers and will be using those for the experiment. :-)

Yes!!! Your use of the scientific method for this was so appealing to me, and now I'm not only addicted to your content, but I am feeling more confident in cloth diapering instead of overwhelmed. Excited to see the results of the synthetic diapers versus diaper creams! For science!!! Thanks again for your content, you truly have made a difference in my panicked and terrified brain :)

Would you also be willing to test on microfleece and microsuede? I’m a pockets-user so I’m curious about these linings.
@ClothDiapersforBeginners4 жыл бұрын
Microfleece and microsuede are polyester synthetics like microfiber, so you can expect the same absorbency issues on them as you would see in the next part, the microfiber test, though they are slightly easier to clean than microfiber inserts if buildup does happen. :-)

I started using vaseline when I heard others were having great success with natural fabrics then went all in when you started your experiment. We've had zero problems!!! We had to start using vaseline and products containing vaseline on the reccomendation of our dr and was afraid we'd have to give up cloth full time. Sudocrem is a very popular cream where I live but I don't think you can get in America. If you got your hands on it I'd love to see it tested.

Did you use Vaseline on all types of cloth diapers with no problems?
@clothyoriginal2 жыл бұрын
@@louisianatothecore natural fabrics mostly, we used it with fleece liners too but those are easier to clean vs a fleece aio in which we only have one or 2 but yes no problems. We have a fairly heavy duty wash routine.

Did you ever film a results video for synthetics??? Also, what about lanolin? Im hearing in CD fb groups that its ok to use as diaper cream, that it doesnt cause repelling. But that doesnt make sense since its used to lanolize wool.
@brivader9413 жыл бұрын
I would be really curious to see you do a zinc oxide cream that isn't petroleum based, since petroleum is a repellent.

Thank you for sharing this content! Very informative. Have you ever tried Boudreaux's butt paste? It's a very thick tan colored cream that I feel like would stain pretty bad. (Oh disclaimer... the bottle says "Will stain clothing and fabric" It is 16% zinc oxide so similar to the Penitan brand. Could you share with us the common ingredients that we're good with absorbency and did not stain?

Can you do a vid on the heat of cloth vs disposables? Lots of folks saying that their cloth feels so hot on their babes and wool etc. because they are seeing the layers as just making the assumption that their baby is hotter than in a plastic disposable 😒 I’ve heard maybe by you don’t remember 🤔 that cloth is actually 2 degrees cooler?
@ClothDiapersforBeginners3 жыл бұрын
Good topic! A great way to tell (if you menstruate anyway) is to try some cloth pads... Oh man going back to disposables is sooo hot and gross lol. 🤢 Thanks for the great suggestion!!! And thanks for watching!

@MangoLeagueMom4 жыл бұрын
Wow! Thanks for making this video! I'm about to switch over to cloth and I'm becoming less and less overwhelmed thanks to your great info and website, and FB group. I'm curious to know if there would be repelling from ointment that would rub off of baby's bottom and onto the cotton while wearing the diaper? Rather than overtime after washes. We typically use desitin. But it's only because I've tried so many natural alternatives and they just don't cut it. We also use baby powder Bec in FL my kids tend to sweat more and get sweat rashes. So is powder safe? Thanks!
@ClothDiapersforBeginners4 жыл бұрын
Baby powder is perfectly fine! :-)
@elizawong51644 жыл бұрын
Did you use live clean with micro fleece pocket diapers or liners on your baby? Wondering will it cause them to repel. Vaseline is causing my micro fleece liners to repel, I have been having leaks for the last three days.
@ClothDiapersforBeginners4 жыл бұрын
Hi Eliza, the next part of the experiment is officially testing creams on synthetics, BUT I can tell you that I personally used live clean on my own pocket diapers and fleece.liners and didn't have a problem. Stay tuned for more tho. Hope that helps!

Mind blown! I use a homemade zinc oxide cream and always switch to disposables when I use it and now I'm thinking maybe not? I do use fleece liners so I'll wait for part 2 to be really confident. Otherwise I'd think they are good to go for my cotton prefolds. Thank you thank you for all your info. You really are the best source of cloth info!
@ClothDiapersforBeginners4 жыл бұрын
Aww, thank you Kristi! Crazy right?!? I couldn't believe it! Yup, should be totally fine for your cotton prefolds. :-)
@michelezink90732 жыл бұрын
just use bamboo liners when you use rash cream and you'll never have a problem.
@94cokegirl4 жыл бұрын
This is crazy! Like you, I totally expected Vaseline to repel like the last one did! So cool to know I don’t have to worry about it with my cotton if I do need to use it one day. I also expected penaten to stain and was hoping it wouldn’t cause repelling in case I need to use it since that was our go to bum cream before switching to cloth. I’ll be curious to see how it performs on the microfibre so I know if it’s safe to use in my pockets as well since I use a mix of cloth diaper types. I’m also glad you’re trying the burts bees ointment next as that’s the one I grabbed to try with our next baby! I’m sure it’s fine on natural fibres (hopefully) so it will be nice to see how it does on microfibre for pocket diaper linings. I don’t have any microfibre inserts but the lining is all micro suede on my pockets
