Resurrecting a Classic: Polishing My 1956 Chevy for Sale

Our 1956 Chevy wagon is looking good sitting in the driveway. This car is next to go for sale. I spent a bunch of time and money on this thing over the years but she never got her time in the sun. I give it a quick once over, polish the paint and give it a final test drive.

Dan, you may want to consider keeping your blue Nomad a manual trans car by installing your Super T-10 4sp in it you were saving for the Healy kit car. That '65 327 with a Super T-10 4 speed would be sweet.

Yeah, it's a cool rig and would make a great surf wagon. Imagine a few boards on a roofrack and a nice wooden lugage area where you could store your wetsuits, etc. Some beachboys tunes on the stereo and your good to go! 🎼🎵🎶🎸📻🎹🎚 Lets go surfing now, everybody's learning how. Saying that you're constantly looking for radiator caps is brilliant - soon you'll have more than you could ever use. Trying the same trick with batteries might be testing the limits, though. :>)

All these 50's yank cars are rare classics over in Europistan. It's because not many were ever imported back in the 50's. And that was because Europe was still recovering from WW2 so there was no money to buy and drive a big6 or V8 US car. My dads first car was a VW beetle and that kind of car was all a guy on a salary could buy. Only company managers and directors owned cars like Mercedes or a V8 US car. Other typical cars from that era: small 4cyl Opels, small 4cyl Euro-Fords, Morris minor, Renault 4CV, Fiat Topolino.

Dan im sure you know this trick, but a bucket of hot water and Ajax/Comet powder bath does absolute wonders for old patina paint and especially older laquer paint jobs.

I really think you need to look at the difficulty in replacing these cars! You been blessed, and the supply is shrinking every day. You're giving them away! You better not look in developments, seriously, they usually have HOA's and will severely cramp your style. People actually ask will it drive 3K? Swap the steering column at the 56 station wagon with the 55 blue nomad you already got the 56 with a floor shifter and that way The Nomad would have a automatic tilt steering column and no money spent on the steering columns....
