I've had mine over two months now and I hate the funky breathing problem. I'm glad I saw your video, because this is my first CPAP machine and thought that must be normal. I was about to give up on CPAP therapy because I can't sleep without it waking me up with a rush of air taking my breath away. Sadly since I've had it two months I can't send it back. I thought it was a bargain and does everything the Resmed does, but now I see it would have been better to spend the extra money and bought a Resmed.

I have one of these iBreeze 20A. I discovered through trial and error that switching to the 19mm tubing smoothed out the pressure surges for me. Also use no Ramp, no IPR, no APAP. Basically, the less this machine has to think, the better it works. I’ve actually had a couple of nights with 0.0 AHI which I’ve never achieved with any CPAP! I like the compactness of the humidifier. It’s a pretty good CPAP for me once I got it figured out.

Having it on 15 would certainly cause that. It is defaulted there (which is odd because it comes with a 19mm tube) I changed that before ever trying it, so the tubing type was always correct while I was using it.

I also switched to the 19mm tubing which smoothed out the surging. My AHI is 0.0 every night which is too good to be true. If you can find it there is a Polish site review off this comparing with lab measurements and the AHI was dangerously higher than reported. I run at a pressure of 15 and this machine feels weak. Humidifier output is crap even at the highest setting.

Yep, I am trying to return mine at the moment. Yes, I experienced the pressure pulses. Yes, I experienced a "roaring" noise in the tube (15 mm) and I am severely "hearing challenged" without my hearing aids. In defense of Resvent they attempted to solve the issue but required so much information in the form of pictures, videos, computer system data that it became an overwhelming hassle. I just gave up trying to deal with Resvent. Told Resvent I'd just eat the $600 and they then started a RMA. Still have to take pictures, etc. We'll see how it ends.

Jason, I now have 5 nights under my belt using the IBreeze CPAP machine. You are correct. The app is basically useless except for minor details. (Time used, Pressures, Events) What events, I have no clue. From night one with just under 4 hours, to last night with 7.5 hours, I'm getting used to it. While using it, I hear no noise except my breathing pattern while trying to fall asleep. I may try the humidifier soon, because I'm at altitude in Colo. So far I'm pleased with it, but have no comparison. I'm now a subscriber, so I'll be following to learn more. Thanks for the useful knowledge.

I am new to CPAP, actually APAP, and this was the only machine my hospital respiratory department had to offer me. I only lasted 12 days with it and by then I had had enough. I really did not like it from the first time I used it, and I experienced all the same problems you mentioned in your video. I tried several masks as well as different settings with the ibreeze, but it didn't make any difference. It was still loud. (FYI, I used a 19mm tube and it made no difference in the noise level.) My breathing sounded like Darth Vader and then there were these strange random gushes of air that came from out of nowhere (the "funky" breathing issue you described). It was really throwing my natural breathing pattern off, and I struggled to breathe normally with it. I never was able to fall asleep while using this machine no matter what. I found it very stressful to use and dreaded the times I had to use it. The Darth Vader breathing, random gushes of air, and the whistle-wheeze sound on exhalation drove me bonkers. I called the respiratory department and told them about the issues I was having with it and could I please get a different, quieter CPAP machine? But they didn't have any other kinds to offer. So I called my insurance company and told them about the issue and they recommended some other DME providers in my area who were also in my insurance network. I returned my ibreeze and I will be picking up my new Resmed APAP machine from another provider tomorrow. I'm hopeful for a more positive (and quieter!) experience than what I had with the ibreeze!

I had upgraded the Resmed Airsense 10 to the Resvent iBreeze, First day, it was great. 2nd day, it started to have issues. I would inhale and it would cut off mid breath so it was like I was gasping for air. It brought a ton of anxiety. 3rd night same thing. Called my Dr. She switched it out for a Resmed Airsense 11... which is effing amazing. I POSTED THIS BEFORE I FINISHED THE VIDEO. You used the term funky describing the breathing pattern when you're breathing in. It's awful. So glad i got the Airsense 11. Its a great upgrade from the 10. I use the Airsense 11 as my primary machine and I will use my Airsense 10 when I travel, so I can leave the Airsense 11 the way it is on my nightstand and just share the SD card between the 2 machines.

I'm on the iBreeze 20A. Used to be on Resmed S8 autoset. I can tell you the noise on the iBreeze is so much improved. 43db to 50db is quite an acceptable range. A constant fan noise is about in the 40-50db range. Your comment that "it's loud" is a wee bit exaggeration. Compared to an OSA snore, I think the snore would be undeniably LOUD. No difference in sleep therapy quality when using the Resvent. At that affordable price point, I don't believe in paying for what people deem as "gold standard".

First time CPAP user, now 4 nights in with the ibreeze, and thought I would go insane before I ever got used to the funky pressure variability that left me either feeling suffocated or inflated like a puffer fish. At least now I know it’s not just me, and that maybe there’s hope for a solution, either with a 19 mm tube (mine came with a 15) or another machine. Hoping my insurance might let me switch to an air sense 11, as I’m also bothered by the noises made by this machine.
@PlanetEntropy2 жыл бұрын
Correction, turns out my tube was a 19, not a 15, but my machine was on the default setting of 15. Changing this to 19 helped A LOT but didn’t completely eliminate all of the weird pressure fluctuations. The noise is intolerable still, with the machine (not the mask or tube), making a “wheezing” sound with each respiration. Thankfully, my DME has agreed to switch out the ibreeze for an airsense 11.

I got into bed the other night and forgot to turn on my air filter (which I use only because it makes nice loud white noise). Turned on my cpap and was like "Holy crap, I had no idea it made that much noise!" Honestly, the only part of the noise that bothered me is that it's not constant. For obvious reasons, the sound shifts with every breath, and it was that variability that drove me nuts. Still, I was really surprised to discover it wasn't silent after all, LOL

Hi Jason. Only a guess here. As a controls person I would think that the "P" stands for proportion. Without going into great detail, "PID" is what's used for controls. The "P" is the amount of proportional increase needed. So If this is what it stands for, you are correct in that .5 would be more aggressive. It would increase .5 after a set period of time("I", or integral) , and keep increasing by that amount until achieving the desired setpoint (which with CPAP it would be the pressure needed to achieve the pressure needed for proper therapy whatever that is. It also works in the opposite direction as well if the pressure has overshot the setpoint, or less pressure is needed it will decrease by the "P". We won't talk about the "D" or derivative here, that's where my mind starts to look like pile of spaghetti being dropped on the floor! Now if the P is set at 0.1, then it will still keep increasing by that much and achieve the desired pressure, but will take longer.

4-7 decibels isn't 10% less, because decibels are logarithmic. 10 dB is a doubling of volume. So it's more like 40-70% less noise.

I have expertise in the physics of acoustics and audio. Know that one decibel is the smallest incremental change the human ear can detect, such that if you slowly turn up the volume on a previously constant sound, the point at which one reports having finally detected the difference in volume is said to be 1 decibel louder. For the record, a increase of 10dB is perceived to be twice as loud.

No LL27, YOU ARE NOT exaggerating the "funky pressure" problem! [And a BIG thank you for your objective review.] It FORCES me to breathe to IT'S own rhythm, not mine. 😤Worst part is, that rhythm varies. Plus, even on CPAP, the pressure rate is all over the map. One or two breaths are fairly comfortable at around 4, then the next one "toots" the mask at 6 or 7+, it's so strong! Then it will drop down to 3, making it hard to breathe. I started out with all optional settings off. Then I tested the various clinical controls, pressure min/max, CPAP & APAP modes, EComp, RCare, IPR etc. to see if anything changed the problem and it did not. After reviewing your video and reading comments here, I changed the tube setting to my 19mm size and it's a little better, but still jumps all over compared to my AS11. Very disappointed! I plan to send it back - which I VERY rarely do. UPDATE: I checked the usage stats on this "new" machine. Wellue sold me a "new" machine that's actually USED, with 1130 hrs on it for $455! It's useless to me the way it works, but they threw in an O2 ring with it. Buyers beware!

I have nothing to compare it to! This is my first machine going on 3rd night. Only using it 4 hours because I woke up and the girl who set it for me had it on 20 which I heard another guy on KZbin say that is super blast turbo . I have a full face mask and the mask was lifting off my face. I think I turned it down to 12.5 ! I just hope this is doing something good since I do have sleep apnea and I’m a 69 year young woman and I don’t want to have a heart attack! I also have asthma. I guess it’s loud but once I’m asleep I don’t hear it and I don’t have a bed pal so … I was not impressed with the office where I Picked it up. They really did not explain much. This is definitely something to get use to and I hope I do and it works I guess some air coming in is better than none. This is my 3rd night. I so appreciate the information and video. I met a woman today who said her cpap machine changed her life and she gave me her pulmonary doctors name and she couldn’t tell me her machine she is using but she only has a nose thing. I told her I’m a mouth breather and she said she was also, but now it trained her to breathe through her nose . The woman who set me up on this machine was insisting I use the full mask. And she set it at 20 being the highest. I thought it was too much! What is your thoughts on that? Also the Ramp I set at 20 minutes. I just really want this to work. I set the humidity to 3 and that felt comfortable because when it was set on auto my nose was freezing. Especially since I have my AC on. Again thank you so much for your video and for what you’re doing!!!

I got mine about 2 months ago. After 1 Month I also turned off the IPR because of the same reason, surging air when I breathe out in hard. Watch the IPR is off it's supposed to just have constant pressure. But it doesn't. it stills does the surging thing like you're talking about. if I take a deep breath in or out then it then still it does the surge thing,... gives you a blast of air and then pulls back. I called the company that supplied me this machine through Medicare/WellCare. They said they couldn't replace it with the newer ones that they just got in. I'm assuming they're now just getting the new machines in because of the "Supply Chain" "issue", and they're trying to dump off these problematic older machines, especially to medicare/wellcare customers who don't know that they can and should demand a better machine and return it just like you would if you were paying for it out of pocket. I think the company doesn't want to lose money on their inventory by not being able to sell these faulty machines. This they don't want to replace them with the POTENTIALLY better/newer ones that they just got in a couple weeks ago. But I'm not sure if the new ones are any better, haven't had a chance to try one. I'm going to contact my WellCare rep. and see if we can make them replace it, even though the company that gave it to me said they "couldn't". WellCare hasn't paid them for mine yet because I haven't met the minimum criteria of 30 consecutive days of 4 hours per night. So that's my advantage they haven't got paid yet as far as I know. Whereas if I would have met the 30-day 4 hours per night criteria they probably would get their payments and then I couldn't force them to give me a new machine. I'll try to update this after talking to my WellCare rep today, October 24th 2022

Most useful internet review to date. Received IBreeze earlier this week. It has been difficult to set up and operate. My provider is coming out with a Resmed AirSense. My biggest issue? It's made in China. We'll keep politics per se out of this, but when you have a country whose primary goal is to be the preeminate force in the world in economy and manufacturing (at our expense), the last thing I want is a device designed to keep me from dying in my sleep coming from them. It's one thing for factory recalls, but who knows what the CCP is up to in sending units over here. I can't depend on the FDA to be looking out for me 100% and I don't want to find out later about a 'problem' that got overlooked. Keep up the good work.
@cooloutac2 жыл бұрын
I personally could never use a resmed airsense 10 device cause it would constantly pulse on my face, even after exchanging it. I believe due to my weak exhale. Went to the dreamstation for that reason which has a different z-wave algorithm and I didn't have the problem. So I was worried I would have same issue after getting a new machine since recall, but I ended up getting sent the ibreeze 20A. The pulses with this only happen if you change up your breathing. Like if i yawn or cough or break pattern, it will either not push enough air on the first inhale, or a do a hard pulse, but it immediately recovers. I plan on telling my doctor to raise the low pressure. But once you actually fall asleep this should not be an issue. So the actual breathing and comfort is surprisingly ok for me. I turned off ramp and use IPR 2 and auto humidify. The cons for me is the filter latch rattles and clicks with every breath and I had to put a piece of scotch tape over the corner to keep it quiet. The machine is loud but mine also developed a slight whistling noise. Also the humidifer is a pain to remove and open and I'm afraid I will break the little plastic latch. But is it worth an extra $500 dollars for the airsense 10? I mean this thing sells for between $500 and $600 the resmed starts at $900 to $1200. I'd say hell no. This whole industry is a scam.IMO we need way more players in the game and for people to take it seriously. If this thing lasts the 5 years its well worth it.

The Airsense 10 AutoSet is the APAP model. The Airsense 10 CPAP and Airsense 10 Elite are CPAP only.

I find it strange you say it’s loud. I have the same machine and it’s silent. The only thing you hear is the air in the mask. Even my wife who is a very light sleeper said she couldn’t even hear it.
@Freecpapadvice2 жыл бұрын
That makes me wonder about variability in machines. Mine (as well as several other commenters) say that it is noticeable louder. If yours isn't, I'm curious what makes yours more quiet. I have white noise running and it was crazy how overpowering it was, even under the bed.
@paulallen-012 жыл бұрын
@@Freecpapadvice see that makes me think their quality control isn’t good at all. What I have noticed since watching your video because I was Rea paying attention to the noise of the machine is that during an exhale there is a faint chirping/whistle sound that I can’t unhear now lol.

Ugh I am so bummed out. I am new to CPAPs and this is the one I got. I can’t return it. Since I am stuck with this Are there any settings that you recommend to help me use it more efficiently, please I am desperate

Other reviewers praised this machine. Could it be that the issues have been resolved? Did you never get any reply from the suppliers?
@Freecpapadvice2 жыл бұрын
My review is extremely recent. Other people have confirmed recently the same problems I had. Either the machines are getting worse or the other reviewers had a “different experience”.

I wonder if the loudness is caused by not having sound deadening materials are not in it? maybe?
@Freecpapadvice2 жыл бұрын
Possibly. I'll probably break it down to find out once done recording other things with it.

I use an asv but still exhausted, any ideas? How much should I sell my 1 yr old bipap?
@Freecpapadvice2 жыл бұрын
Check your leak in OSCAR. Not the left hand side....it's worthless. Look at the right hand side trend for leaks. ASV must....MUST.... be free of leaking or it doesn't respond well.

Like your videos but you never answer my questions. Do you have a video about heated hose? The issue I have with mine is lots of water in the hose after I wash even after I let it hang over my shower head to dry all day because of the caped off end of the hose. Any recommendations? Thanks
@Freecpapadvice2 жыл бұрын
Use a Hurricane Dryer. I have videos of that product. I have one and use it all the time.
@cebruthius2 жыл бұрын
You actually don't need to get your hose wet ever

After using this machine for several months now, I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT. I want my old ResMed AirSense 10 back. I get a weird bump at times on exhale. I and my DME have tried everything to fix this. Nothing has worked. Don’t get me wrong, it’s better than nothing, but it’s just not for me.

Have you reviewed the Idisc cpap machine?

I haven't. They were REALLY unhappy with this review. Just being honest.

LOUD is a real deal killer. The cpap industry still hasn’t gotten over old LOUD machines. Whenever I tell friends that my wife and I are both on Cpaps they always ask “Isn’t that LOUD?”. And with cheap Chinese Cpap machines people can finally answer YES! or “HUH?”. Why is everyone selling this crap likes its candy? It’s also probably wired at the same factory that makes toasters (next to the nuclear plant). And you want to sleep next to it for a third of your life to try and save a couple of hundred dollars? And for seniors like me, will there be medicare issues with paying for continued supplies when you bought your chinese machine with cash on the cpap black market? Bet so. They had major problems with me just accepting that my State insurance plan bought my cpap machine 2 years before I enrolled in Medicare. They just kept denying claims because there was no evidence of me owning a machine that the supplies were for. Resmed makes fabulous and quiet machines that last a very long time. There is a huge difference between price and cost over time.(not affiliated with Resmed).
@Freecpapadvice2 жыл бұрын
I agree with you (also not affiliated with Resmed...they actually piss me off more often than not)

Yep, loud is a deal breaker for me too. I LOVE my Airsense 10. It's my third CPAP and the best I've had so far. Dead quiet and I feel a better quality of therapy with it compared to the 2 Philips Respironics I've had before it.

Given these comments, how is this product surviving in the market? Not one positive response or defence. There are other inexpensive brands such as BMC, that have many fans, but this one gets no love. How is it persisting?

Damn.. I just got this machine and it is overwhelming at the top end.. when I inhale & get to the top of my breath a crazy rush (gush) of air actually momentarily impairs my exhale. I told the nurse during the demo & she said the complaints are abundant about this machine. Meanwhile I was instructed to contact my doctor ...yikes

I hope they did not make you take it home, even though you and others had all those problems. That would be messed up!
