This is crazy! I started this routine in October of 2023 and am currently shocked at how good it is. I have been stuck at armpit legth for almost two years but it has broken so now I'm midback!!!! I am literally so excited. Now I leave the braids is for approx eigth weeks before redoing, but moisturize and clean my scalp everyweek. I have noticed the roots are a bit difficut to undo due to matting, but I care enough not to be rough and rushing. I am currently considering doing like you and redoing each plait every 4-5 weeks. Any advice?

Hey girl! All of your tips are amazing:) I've been struggling with my ends throughout my natural hair journey. They prevent me from detangling properly, sectioning my hair, and etc. Even if I trim my ends, they revert right back to being knotty but that's probably bc I'm not consistent with trimming lol. But I was wondering if you have any tips to prevent breakage and taking care of hair ends in general:)
@SharatiaBanks9 ай бұрын
it depends on the type of breakage. if the hair dries out then that cause breakage. deep conditioning is going to be your best friend when trying to prevent breakage in this case. gotta keep it moisturized and hydrated. and seal that in with an oil of your choice. do you know your hair's porosity?
@coreenvalbrun82249 ай бұрын
@@SharatiaBanks I believe I have low porosity hair based on the research I've done. When I pray water on my hair there are "beads" of water so I think that's a factor of low porosity and thank you for the advice!

Spray* not pray lol
@SharatiaBanks9 ай бұрын
Ok well you’re def gonna need to deep condition with heat. I know the container says a timeframe, but at least 20 minutes under heat in opinion. Also, lightweight products would be best. Have you tried applying your leave in with a steamer?

Sure! It was * 1/3 cup Amla powder * 1/3 cup of my tea concoction (fenugreek,rosemary,butterfly pea flower, cloves) * 1 tbsp olive oil The paste was a little thick as you saw. I’d also suggest to add a lil more water and maybe aloe Vera so it’s not so thick and to make it easier to spread.

After you washed your hair did you take out the plaits and redo them or do you just wash it and let them dry?
@SharatiaBanks8 ай бұрын
After I wash them, I let them air dry. I’ll redo each plait every 4-5 weeks. I’ll be redoing the whole style every 3-4 months
@quantrell43628 ай бұрын
@@SharatiaBanks Thank you for responding. I do two strand twists and it takes me days from taking them down, untangling them and sectioning my hair, washing it and twisting them again to the point where sometimes I consider just cutting my hair off. Anyhow I like your method but I’m concerned about wetting the hair and then just leaving it to dry in its plaited state. But my hair is so thick and hard to wash, I have to do it in many sections and I’m tired of it. If there’s a way to do it more efficiently like what you do I’d want to try it. I’m just reluctant because I’d heard that wetting the hair while it was in a protective style would cause breakage but that hasn’t been your experience?
@SharatiaBanks8 ай бұрын
I understand all too well! And no, I haven’t experienced any breakage. Everyone’s hair is different, but I think the reason that’s said is because we typically have extensions/added hair in our hair braids. My hair won’t break in plaits is because there’s nothing weighing it down or creating tension. It’s just my hair. It’s small enough to cleanse and deep condition but not too small that it’ll loc @quantrell4362
