Yes, any choke that is sold as RETAY spec will work. So if the Patternmaster Code Black you have is made for a Retay it will work.

I put a .695 jebs highvoltage waterfowl choke in my retay gordion and love it only thing havin a hard time picking which shells pattern better choices got down to between apex, rio, and federals now

Sorry, I'm from Georgia and here we are wondering if this model can use steel cartridges? Do you recommend the massive use of steel cartridges?

Steel is acceptable to shoot from RETAY drilled barrels - You can shoot steel shot from the factory choke tubes except for IM and Full. Use RETAY spec aftermarket extended chokes for steel-rated chokes in IM or tighter choke constrictions

So why when asking patternmaster, Muller, Indiancreek and other companies do they instantly say it’s a crio + thread pattern for your 20 gauges. Is just your 12 a Mara pro pattern? Why does the crio + thread into your barrels then on the 12 gauges?

The is a lot of misinformation about this out there. I'll do my best to clarify. The thread pitch differs very slightly between the "Crio +" and the "Retay MaraPro" chokes. Our experience has been that some of the aftermarket companies are making a Crio+ choke that fits Retay. We have found this to be true both in 12ga and 20ga. This may be an intentional hybrid design or it may come down to the cutting tool that is being used to cut the threads on the individual choke. Machine tooling itself can differ slightly between machines and with the thread spec being so close (.0005 difference in pitch ) between Crio and MaraPro chokes, this could be the reason why you are seeing some Crio chokes fitting in Retay barrels. Our official recommendation is to always request a "Retay" spec choke and not a Crio+. We don't make the after-market chokes so we don't have the knowledge of each individual manufacturer to advise a customer otherwise. That said, you should ultimately follow the recommendations of the individual choke manufacturer. After all, they make their chokes and if they say it will fit then they are giving guidance based on their specific spec and situation. It's possible that some companies have developed a spec that works with both Crio+ and MaraPro. If the manufacturer says their chokes will fit - and ultimately it does not fit, then you have some recourse with them.

I recently pick up a gordion 12 gauge and at 20 yards to get something on paper it was good. Once I started patterning at 40 yards it was awful. Everything I ran through it from TSS, rogue, Winchester long beard and remington magnum was consistently scattered. I’m using a jebs .655 choke that specific for the gordion. I called retay and the guy I spoke with said they would test it at 15 yards for. That’s not a true test for a turkey hunting and I was beyond disappointed. No too of that I was told I’d be charge $50 bucks after testing. Can you help me resolve this? I’d love to keep the gun, but I’d also love for it to touch 40 yards pretty consistent on a 10 inch circle. Do you have any recommendations?

Hi Michael, please call back so that we can see what's going on with your gun. We do run test patterns for turkey at 40 yards I'm sorry if you were given incorrect information. When you send your gun to us for a pattern evaluation - you would only be charged if it is determined that the gun is not at fault. If the gun is at fault then the gun will be repaired or replaced at no cost to you other than shipping.

Thanks for replying. Do you have any recommendations on a turkey choke setup that will pair well with the gordion? I would love to keep the gordion if I can get the results that are needed for out in the turkey woods.
