The beauty of dharma is that it is not bound by 1 book or any book. Dharma is transendantal and universal, and it resides within every being and their conscience. You dont need any scripture to tell you what is dharma. You have it intrinsically within you, and you discover and realise it through seeking, and practice. This is the core principle of sanatana dharma. If there are ancient scriptures that make your heart heavy, then it is because they go against the eternal univwersal principle of dharma embedded in your heart, and in that case, you can reject such nonsense from any book. We are not like abrhamic religions that are bound by scripture. We are a people of seeking knowledge and improvement through direct spiritual expereicne and moral evolution, and we have a diverse library of accumulated knowledge and wisdom to draw from. Not everything is absolutely correct, because everything that is written, is a product of its time and the fallibility of the people of that time. Some things are great and amazing, while others are deplorable. The beauty of sanatan dharma, which some people fail to realise, is that, if something is wrong within our society and the there are texts which are supporting it, then the principle core philosophy of our dharma demands that we course correct and change it for the better. We have all the tools and philosophies, present within our written traditions, our history, as well as hard wired within the eternal and innate dharma of our own heart and soul, that enables us as a society and culture, to course correct the injustices and social evils within our society, without having to abandon our native ancestral culture and spritiual traditions. No other spiritual or cultural tradition or religion allows for that, which is why there have been countles reformers and new philosophies that have constantly arisen from the dharmic soil of our cultural heritage. Thankfully Babasaheb himself never left the dharmic fold. He simply switched to the dharmic philosophy, practices and traditions of an alternative native philosopher and practitioner of this land, ie, Shri Gautam Buddha, because that is what felt right to him. You too, have every right to follow your heart and find what feels right in your heart and soul. You can do this by studying the texts, but that is not always necessary, because the Truth is already within you and can be accessed through personal discipline, conscientiousness, righteous conduct, meditation on the nature of reality, which ultimately leads to direct experience of the Ultimate Reality that is, universal and eternal Dharma, which is always, Truth, Justice, Order, Balance, Harmony, Reciprocity, COmpassion, and most of all, LOVE. Unfortuantley, many of us are missing this key principle within our own culture, because we have been colonised for 1000 years by abrahamic religions, and thus even our own perspective has been colonised and we are seeing everything, including our own culture and traditions, through the lens of abrahamic religions and their fragmented thought patterns and limited defintions. We have forgotten that we are not a relgiion, but an ancient pluralistic culture, that has at its core, true freedom of thought and beliefs, which has resulted in a vast spiritual market place of countless diverse ideas and beliefs, that have evolved and distilled over thousands of years, unlike any other culture in the world. All countries once had evil and injustice in their socieites and many still do. But the solution, is not to abandan your culture and heritage, and become something else, copying and mimicing others, just because we have been made to feel inferior and inadequate. The solution is to take agency and pride in ourselves and to reform and eradicate social evils from within. This is how every culture grows and improves and progresses with time. No body needs to abandon their native cultural heritage in order to progress and seek justice. We already have everything we need within our tradtions, and within our heart and souls, to change our society for the better, without having to look anywhere else. What other people do in their own homelands, is best sutied for them, and what we do in our own homelands toreform and change, has to best sutied for ourselves, because we are all different , and one size does not fit all. We dont need to import colonial and eurocentric ideas such as communism, democracy, secularism etc, from anywhere else, because our own native heritage, already gives us many pathwys to create a better society, along with the foundational principle of reform, and that is freedom of thought, agency and conscience to reform nd eradicate injustice and oppression, if we truly apply ourselves and stand firm against those who do wrong, and have the audacity to mis-use man made scripture and universally eternal spirituality to justify themsleves.

Dalit is a Marathi word which means the "crushed" or "broken" implying oppression. The word coined by Jyotirao Phule, under the heavy influenze of Christian missionaries and British Colonial forces, reflected his intense hatred for the rest of the Hindu society. With a steady doze of western theories, habits, thinking and religious views, he naturally found no reason to heal the wounds or spark reform in society like Narayana Guru and many others. Instead, he sought to instigate people by spreading venom through artificial colonial theories, Christian dogma and a sense of vengeance. The word got further traction when it was embraced by the Dalit Panthers (another American Missionary attempt to link the Black struggle in the US with that of the marginalized communities in Bharath). Dalit panthers was modelled after Black Panthers who rose against White oppression. That there is social discrimination in Bharat for centuries is a historical truth that is undeniable for any intelligent person. However, to define a person, even worse, hundreds of marginalized Hindu communities, by a term like Dalit is fundamentally insulting, offensive, illogical and derogatory. How can a human being be identified on the basis of how he or she is treated by others. Assume for a moment that all the Jatis (caste is a misnomer by the way) who marginalized are forced to accept the identity of Dalit. What are the implications for the Muslims and Christians? Then by the same token, would the aggressive advocates of the Dalit identity (namely evangelizing Christians, fundamentalist Muslims and the Communist ideologues) be willing to do the same for those who are physically, mentally, socially or economically harmed by members of their own religions? To be more precise, there are 1.5 billion Muslims in the world. Ask any Muslim woman anywhere and she will acknowledge the fact that they are living like slaves under their husbands and it is sanctioned mostly by verses from the Koran or Hadiths. Can Muslim women be identified and organized under the banner of a new identity (for example, an Arabic name for slave)? Can all Catholic children be dumped into one group because of the sexual abuse they have suffered for centuries under the Catholic heirchy? Anyone can Google to know the scope and pervasiveness of the abuse in the Christian world. There are already many Christian groups who are fighting for justice. Should Hindus and Buddhists join hands with abused and would be abused Catholic children and youth and create a separate identity for them (for example a Latin word for abuse or pedophilia)? Christians have converted millions of people through imperialism (Roman Empire), Colonialism (British, French, Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish and Dutch Empires), and fraudulent means (rice bowl Christians as they are known). Once converted, they are left to nature for their well being. Look at the socio-economic conditions of converted Christians in Africa, South, North and Central America. Then look at the affluent White Christians of Europe, North America and Australia. Why should the Hindus and Buddhists sit quite and watch the discrimination to these innocent populations of Africa, Asia and the Americas? Should we support a new identity for these converted indegenous populations by a Spanish word for discrimination? What I am trying to say are the following: 1) Societies all over the world have varying degrees of discrimination. While discrimination is wrong, it is a self evident truth across the world. 2) The invention of the Dalit identity (with the active support of Britain, United States and the entire Christian world) is intended to divide Hindu society further as it was done during the British rule. 3) There is no other purpose for the "Dalit" identity than to facilitate unadulterated evangelization of the "heathen", "pagan" or "infidel" Hindus. This is why Dr. Ambedkar chose the Bouddha Dharma, which is still part of the Dharmic pantheon. 4) Gandhiji used the term Harijans for the marginalized Hindu communities and it is a much better word to identify the segment of the Hindu population which has suffered in the past and faces problems today. 5) The most beneficial approach for all is to refrain from creating a new identity at all for those who are marginalized Hindus. It creates further confusion and conflict. This is an issue that all Hindus should reflect upon seriously. In spite of which varna or jati one belongs to, we all belong to the larger, broader Hindu society. In its bossom alone, we can all heal the wounds of the past and chart a new destiny. The RSS adopted the views of Shri Narayana Guru and Adi Shankara as well as all other social reformers who sought to heal the wounds and create a just and enlightened Hindu society. In RSS, no one asks to tells the jati of others. In additon, there is a harmonious feeling created through the interaction, intermingling and cooperative efforts of all Varnas and Jatis. There is no feeling of high or low. There is no superiority or inferiority. Every jati representing various types of labour or profession is valuable to society and diginity of labour is supreme in RSS led Hindu renaissance movement. This approach of the RSS is the most ideal and well suited for the current times. Other attempts will never deliver the results we aspire for, irrespective of our varnas or jatis. 6) Christians and Muslims should stop fishing in muddy waters. If not, they will get mud all over their bodies because their societies are more muddied than others. 7) We should seek harmony and not division, peace and not war, enlightenment and not ignorance, reconciliation and not instigation, love and not hatred as well as justice and not injustice.

I think it’s quite thoughtful and insightful presentation. As a young child growing up in Kutchh, I encountered Harijan issue because my best friend in my school was Harijan but I could not comprehend what other adults were talking. I grew up in a Jain household with 2 elderly widowed ladies, my grandma and her mother. They didn’t want me to share my utensils with him but I did anyway behind their back. Their resistance I thought was due to his handling of dead animals. So over the years I developed my thinking based on fairness the way I understood it because I always had a trouble with people who said one thing religiously and behaved differently in day to day activities. I have followed by own values and have attempted to follow those and have realized over the years lots of fodders for contemplation. 🙏

I believe the Dhamma - as the ancient texts suggest - did not use caste as a sociological perspective - though we have usurped the idea to form status quo. Low and Upper caste are inventions by the British class systems where the terms low and high are used. Caste comes from Casta, a Portuguese word. In Christian Latin America, there is a skin color hierarchy called casta. Feudal European hierarchies are all caste based. Example: Gongfarmers in the UK: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gong_farmer This has been Western propaganda that caste is somehow intrinsic to Hinduism when in fact Hinduism has been the force fighting against it. Caste is a social construct that can be dismantled due to Hinduism. Let's not pretend there is equality in Christian or Islamic societies, one just has to look at their slavery, racial, ethnic and caste issues to confirm that (Example Qom system in Pakistan).

Where exactly SC have landed up, 72 years after independence. Reservation has been there throughout but did the upward mobility has taken place in most of the SC and if they have moved economically due to reservation, did they really move upward in others perception and obviously the question will come, how long this reservation or hand-holding business to continue? These issues are to be discussed among the SC community first, others have a really limited role into this except when majority of Indians want that reservation as such should be out which is a distinct impossibility in near future due to political reasons. He has mentioned about the castes etc dominating the particular business, Jains dominating jewel business worldwide. So, it is without reservation but continuing. Obviously, it is not the caste but expertise which allows them to dominate the business. Did Ambedkar said reservations to continue indefinitely. The answer is NO. How SC can come up then if they have not come up in seven decades. The answer lies in restructuring of reservation and development of competence in the SC community. If Guru Prakash can come up so beautifully others can come forward too. How many SC have come up as top-class bureaucrats, doctors and professionals in seventy-two years.? Reservation can give upward mobility to some of them but not the respect of society. So what is to be done? Guru rightly pointed out about reservations restructuring. Not for more than two generations, make it diversified within SC community so that more people are included. Let the SC work on its competence, taking reservation as an easy tool will not help for sure. Muslim - Dalit nexus to grab political power? Political alliances are open to all but will it benefit anybody. There is an identity crisis in the Muslim community as well and it will continue. In Muslim politics, Pakistan will always be a factor and now the Arab world is being projected as a factor. Anti-CAA agitation has simply exposed the anti-Indian agenda of some of them. Will the Dalits would like to be perceived as anti- Indians? I do not think so. Muslims have different priorities and want to use Dalits as a tool only. Now, comes the point of Dalits in Judiciary, defence services etc. Why no SC could come up to become a Cabinet secretary? There are so many communities who could not produce a Cabinet Secretary because it is not a matter of production, it is a matter of competence. Nobody will make anybody Cabinet Secretary or Judge just because one is Dalit. It is a matter of competence. Guru is absolutely wrong there. Nobody is going to make someone judge because he is a Dalit, it is just not possible. Competence has to be proven. Now, I will suggest to Guru, Why not to go into security services which have come up and will fetch good revenue in future too. He has mentioned about pig rearing. This is such a big business which can produce millionaires among the Dalit community. I am not suggesting that SC should restrict themselves to limited avenues only. Defence services are such a wonderful opportunity for SC to get respect and upward mobility. Other ideas which he has discussed are good too and should be explored BUT SC community should introspect and move up. Thanks, Guru for this wonderful talk.

Forced inclusion for certain period of time was fine but I don't support Forced inclusion for this day and age. Even I am from backward cast and yes discrimination before independence was reality .But just because one of my forefathers were discriminated I dont agree with the fact that my every coming generation members should be forced benefits of the repatriation. For 1 or 2 generations it was needed but now I dont think this should still be active. A discrimination can never be cure for a discrimination. The modern system is like an hourglass ⏳ ,just like the flowing sand ,this is just shifting power from one entity to another and this will never create equality . And Mark my words this will create chaos which we faced before and we don't need that. internal dispute is always bad for a nation and all I want is to settle this once and for all.

And you think reservation is what that maintains the Hindu religion of the country .Think twice before your say or write anything. before 47 there was no reservation but still the nation was largely Hindu. And any sane person who has read both bhagwad gita and Quran will never convert . And have you heard the term Christan and Muslim dalits ??? If they have already left their old religion behind reaping the benefits of the new religion than why the hell they still apply for reservation for st and backward caste ?? Did they never received the benefits of the new religion which were promised??? If yes weren't the preachers of the new religion hypocrites.
@tapanrob994 жыл бұрын
@Jon Snow even if reservation is genuine than instead of selective repatriation it should be given every community that were suppressed before and after independence . Like as follows:- the mugals suppression of Hindus and Sikhs ,the Kashmiri brahmins that were suppressed, the hindu people of Hyderabad that were suppressed by the razakars ,etc. And you are so much worried about Hinduism in the country ,let me tell you that the current reservation system is somewhat destroying the culture of the country. here is the proof from Mahabharata ** No Brahman is born Brahman .** When Yaksha asked, By what, O king, birth, behaviour, study, or learning doth a person become a Brahmana? Tell us with certitude! Yudhishthira answered, Listen, O Yaksha! It is neither birth, nor study, nor learning, that is the cause of Brahmanahood, without doubt, it is behaviour that constitutes it.
@tapanrob994 жыл бұрын
@Jon Snow just because some brahmins were not suppressed doesn't mean that rest of the hindu community were not suppressed. And every one knew what the mugals did in the name of the religion . And yes corrupt use of power was present back then this doesn't mean that every coming generation bhramis have to be suppressed .And the so called bhramis in thier courts and no better than the modern day rice bag converts . People exists in every community who will run behind power even if their own peoples life is at stake.

We as a nation have to mount a new big effort in lifting the social and economic status of SC/ST and other under privileged communities. Though casteism started as a civilisation problem, since ancient Indian way of life is synonymous with Hinduism, I wish to mention that we as Hindus have a major responsibility in removing social discrimination. Particularly, we need to find out ways and means of improving the social and economic status of SC/ST and other under privileged communities and implement them.

Guru Prakash? Gu: dark and Ru light. Guru enlightens. Prakash means enlightened. Sikh Guru's emancipated enslaved Dalits into Sikhs and the Khalsa. Slavery was abolished every where except in India. Guru Prakash you have voiced and started a movent that should emancipate Dalits from clutches of slavery.

Slavery, to my knowledge was never part of Hindu society. It was imported into india by muslims. And as was pointed out in the talk, people of the shudra community could and had risen in both wealth and power.

@Raj Narayanan We should not let it slip our minds that every ancient Civilisation recognised different components to their society. The greeks who we love and adore had 4 components to their society, the scholars, administrators/warriors/ business and artisans. South American also had literally the same so lets not beat ourselves over it. We need to remind ourselves that as hindus we are progressive and able to change and adapt. unfortunately in our case we had to pass through 1000 yrs of islamic jihad and then the undermining of our society by the europeans and post colonial communist inspired nehruvian anti hindu dynastic india.
