I've been there. Absolutely beautiful. I found a woman in a nearby town who took me on a boat tour of the lagoon and the jungle inlets. We saw wild orchids and a tapir. A truly memorable experience.

I've been going here since the early 90s when there really wasn't anything here. You forgot to mention that Belize is only about an hour drive to the border. I suggest taking a day trip to Corozal, Belize. And I really like Chetumal..

Nice video! Thanks for mentioning plant based foods. While we don’t really go to doctors we look for chiropractors, acupuncture and homeopathic remedies. Still visiting Mexico often in hopes of finding where we want to land. Thanks

I haven’t hit up Bacalar yet, this video put it on my radar. I checked out Cancun, Valladolid, y Merida. Spent two weeks to get a feel. Just got back Tuesday. :)

The poor dog looks so skinny & scared that it hurts my heart. So many lost animals in many of these places. And the mounds of dirt by the houses instead of lush yards just didn’t make me want to relocate there. Not a great introduction for me.

Does Mexico have a safer location? I’m familiar with Merida and Chuburrna, Yucatán The drug cartel has taken over the Baja peninsula. The government is my concern.

Merida is considered the safest city in Mexico; the main danger is torrid Summer heat.
