On the knight forks thing.. one trick that has really helped me is if your pieces are on 2 different colors they can never be forked by a knight or bishop. Makes end game calculation a lot easier

Another very helpful tidbit is a knight changes the color square he's on with every move, so if your king is currently on the opposite color as your enemy's knight, the knight can NEVER move with check. Another thing I did which was VERY helpful was to pay attention to the patterns where a king and knight can be positioned such that the knight CAN move with check, and then avoid those. Specifically, the patterns are opposite corners of 1x5, 3x5, 2x4, and 4x4 blocks (by "block" I just mean "squares on the board in that arrangement"). If your king is on the corner of these arrangements with an enemy knight on the opposing corner, he's in danger. Every time the enemy moves a knight or I need to move my king, I check for these patterns. These are also the positions in which your pieces are forkable by a enemy knight. This sounds a lot harder than it is when written out, makes a lot more sense when you're looking at the patterns on a board. Just place a knight so it's checking your king, and then look at all of the options he has for where he could have gotten to that position from. It's a very pretty pattern IMO! (Note: there are also the trivial patterns such as 1x3 and 2x2 but those are simple and don't take as much focus to catch, thus they seem to be less helpful when considering enemy knight moves with check. However, they are still helpful to file in the back of your brain under forkable piece positioning to help you recognize danger you're in or forks on the enemy. I seem to miss these ones a lot less than the other patterns though.)
@mal2ksc
@mal2ksc 2 жыл бұрын
Different colors means they can't be forked by a pawn either. Similarly, knights change color on every move, so if you want to get to a square the same color as the one you're on, you know it will take an even number of moves.

@@ahmedkhaled6797 lmao 1100, so maybe take my advice with a grain of salt or two 😜 There's this great little roguelike called Shotgun King and actually despite the fact that it's a VERY different game than chess (in case you didn't catch the "Shotgun" part lol), I did get a ton of practice moving my king in such a way as to avoid knight checks. The king is your only piece so managing getting checked is a big part of the game. I actually didn't even notice these patterns until playing that game, but I haven't put that much time into Shotgun King and still found it a very effective training tool for this concept specifically.

The thing about boys and girls playing chess differently is so freaking true. I had a strong girl in my age group playing tournaments and all the boys (including me) would play hyperagressive chess. Her secret weapon was that she was incredibly solid. She never really attacked, all she did was to let guys take their best shot, sacrifice pawns and pieces and she'd absorb all that pressure, and like a goddess of revenge take you down like the miserable fool you were down 2 pawns. She was brilliant. I hated playing against her, but I admired her for her understanding of the game.

I think many of us spend 0 time in longer time controls because we’re just making the most immediately intuitive move. We (or at least I) struggle to differentiate opening, middlegame, and endgame, so we want to have plenty of time for “later.” Kinda like when you don’t use rare consumables in a video game.
@alekhinesgun9997
@alekhinesgun9997 2 жыл бұрын
I kinda get that and I was like that too when I started out. I guess over time you start to get a better grasp on when to spend time. Basically if you’re between two moves that look extremely similar, just play the move your intuition tells you. If you’re in a mundane position, just stick to the basics and develop. However if you feel like it’s a “wtf is even happening” position or you think there could be a possible checkmate or a way to win material, that’s when you should be spending the bulk of your time. There’s no use in “saving it for later” when you’re incredibly lost. A winning position takes way less time to play so if you spend your time accordingly and gain an advantage, there’s a very high chance you’ll gain all that time back throughout the rest of the game since your opponents moves will be much more difficult to find

@@Sun4y4k4 play tons of bullets and afterwards some 3+0 You'll lose most of the first 10 bullet games but after a while you'll learn a new skill which is "move, don't overthink" and the mastering of premoving. 10 bulletgames sounds a lot but it like one 10+0 game. Do it for a week and after that you'll be a faster player who'll waste less time and won't overthink as much as before. At least that's how i managed to get my blitz at the same rating as my rapid almost, when before that it was 600-700 as well. (Now 1500 blitz, rapid 1600) The skill is to then consistently play 5+0 blitz where you've a bit more time to think and check if you're not blundering. At the end you should be quick enough for 3+0 too but give it the time it needs. (Most important is to not panic over the many losses in your first couple of bullet and 3+0 games like i said) Hope it helps.

22:00 I like to just keep an eye out for deadly squares. Over the course of a game, many different squares will make for great knight forks, so it’s good to be aware when and where they are and, most importantly, whether a knight can teach them. Pins and skewers are similar; be aware of when you create something that is “pinnable” or “skewerable”.

Those that can't, teach. But it's not all bad - where would Hikaru be without his father? You may not be a great chess player, but perhaps you could be the teacher or father of a great chess player!

I’m not sure how much this means, but you’re the reason me and almost all the players I know have started playing and studying. U make chess fun while keeping everything helpful and informative! Without you the chess world would be a lot worse :) much love king keep ur head up

Levy , really appreciate this act of yours ! There are times when life puts you in situations which one even don't wanna dream of. Indeed Neuroblastoma is a cancer , though it's survival rate is pretty high ! Which ofcourse is a soothing fact ! The quote that they received from Spain was €450,000 and its a pretty damn high amount . A Gofundme page has been created for Gabriel by WGM Nino Maisuradze. All the money collected there will be used for Gabriel's treatment. Their friends started fundraising for Gabriel and in the last few days the amount of money that was collected was about €60,000 Euro. They are selling all of their properties but unfortunately, it is not even half of the amount that they need. Guys kindly save this 1 yr old and donate . May god bless you all !
