Learning even just the basics of a language of a country such as Thailand will get you lots more respect from the locals and leads to all sorts of experiences you normally would miss out on otherwise. It certainly changed my life.

I REALLY recommend taking the 100 Day Thai Challenge with Kru Fah. I wanted to surprise my Thai girlfriend who doesn't speak much English so I signed up for Kru Fah's class. I visited Thailand after about the first 50 lessons and my Thai girlfriend was very happy, and her friends were also very impressed. After finishing all 100 lessons, communicating with my Thai girlfriend is much easier.
@geeb33762 ай бұрын
$500 is way too expensive. You could have used YT to get all that for free.
@mikehunt56372 ай бұрын
@@geeb3376 I'm sorry, but you're wrong. $500 for 100 lessons and access to Kru Fah is a million times better than what you might learn on YT. Before I took her course, I might have agreed with you, but I have tried to learn Thai on my own and I have taken Kru Fahs 100 Day Thai Challenge, and there is no comparison. Trying to randomly learn Thai on YT as compared to a structured Thai language course is a waste of your time.

@@matthewmasur6749 Thanks, Matthew. Pia is really happy. Just today she complimented me on my Thai again after our video chat. Even though I finished all my lessons, I still have access to all the video, the Quizlet flashcards, and the entire lesson book (which is a downloadable PDF), so I continue studying by reviewing. I was a little skeptical at first, but after all is said and done, I'm really glad I took the 100 Day Thai Language Challenge.

I'm moving here to retire in December. If my retirement visa process is ultimately unsuccessful, this statement will be irrelevant: I plan to spend the remainder of my life in Thailand paying forward what you are teaching all of us on this channel. These videos are a gift and it will be my honor to do so. You appear to appreciate shown gratitude rather than spoken appreciation, so I'll dive back in to the learning!

yeah, nice to see him trying but the tones were pretty much non-existent.

Wow, you're really getting better at this. Now would be a GREAT time to learn how to read and write in Thai. It will help with your pronunciation immensely as you will actually be able to "see" the tones. Your existing lexicon will really help with this process. Keep up the good work!

Excellent video both entertaining and educational. I got more than half right (my Thai wife teaches me) but you were way too quick on some of them and I would have got a few more I think with a bit more time. Very enjoyable none the less !
@robertolesen23492 ай бұрын
Trying to teach myself some Thai I managed to get around 80% of this right, without anyone to practice with stitching sentences together is still a huge challenge for me.
I absolutely wish it was as simple as just memorizing the words, but the killer is that if you don't get the tones just right, you'll still likely not be understood by thai people regardless if you know the actual word. That is incredibly frustrating, but you got to start somewhere. Me and a thai woman reviewed a single word (maa) in multiple tones and it took at least 45 minutes before I got it right, even though the entire time I was positive I was saying it exactly like she was. Today, according to google translate, I am still unable to properly say the english word "horse" (maa, high tone) in thai language. Keep trying or give up. I choose to get trying.

Chris, that was really well done. You've done very well at learning Thai. I hope to do half as well as you. It's a shame that you will be backing off of your video production for a while. I guess you have earned a break, though. You have spent the past several years really putting your heart and soul into this channel. Some slack time would be good for you. Maybe you can go shore fishing and do some videos about fishing in Thailand? That sounds like a good idea to me. Another idea would be to see if the hobby of astronomy is practiced there. It seems as if it would have very nice night skies and a good telescope would open the universe to so many if you were to share it with them. Those are the two ideas that just popped into my head right now. Enjoy your slack time and thanks for all of your hard work.

Chris, You are very good at thai language. Come gratulation for You! I test myselve and I forgot about 5 word so You are better than me. But I am better at speaking tones because I knew all the tones of all the words. Unfortunately, I live in Poland and I only learn Thai as a hobby, mainly for singing songs. I have only been to Thailand 3 times for 2 weeks and I practically do not know this beautiful country. But I like watching your films and when I go to Thailand, this knowledge will be very useful to me.

Great job! Just be careful about saying the tones correctly. "Ma" can be pronounced many different ways - มา หมา ม้า ม่า หม่า -come (middle tone), dog (rising tone), horse (high tone), or mom (informal -falling tone), or as a consonant like in ประหม่า (low tone). You can see how the meaning of a sentence can completely change just by using the wrong tone! Most Thai people will get the meaning you intend to say from context, for example: "I'm going to ride my horse" rather than "I'm going to ride my dog".
@bengmelea86462 ай бұрын
5:56 Near klai (ใกล้ -falling tone) and far klai (ไกล -middle tone) often get mixed up. You pronounce it correctly at first but when you put it in a sentence it comes out as "far". Khru Fah will always encourage her students with a compliment which is typical Thai -even if they're not 100% correct. It's good for business to keep those students coming and makes the students like you!
