I started my SS at 62 1/2, my wife who is 20 months younger than me started at 62. With my pension for working 25+ years we’re doing just fine.That was over 3 years ago & we never looked back. Haven't touched our investments other than to travel. I had two brothers die of cancer 3 years apart. One died at 62 & never drew a dime of his SS. The other died at at 65 & drew 10 months. Let's be honest here, the reason the Government is offering you a bigger payday at 70 is because they're banking on you not making it!

Thank You so much for sharing that comment I retired at 60 and collected my SS at 62 1/2 Lori collected hers SS at 62 1/2 and she was able to get half of my Social Security and it did not affect the amount I was receiving. I think this program has been discontinued.

Actually, some folks make it to 80 and beyond. They need more. Medical costs increase as we age.

It sounds like you've made some wise decisions regarding your Social Security and pension, but I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your brothers. Planning for retirement is crucial, especially with uncertainties like health issues. Before it's too late, it might be a good idea to seek the guidance of a financial advisor who can help you make the most of your investments and ensure a comfortable retirement. They can help tailor a plan that suits your needs and goals, giving you peace of mind for the future. It's never too late to start planning for a secure financial future.

Absolutely, I couldn't agree more. Having a financial advisor early on is super important. I've seen firsthand how much it helps. With my advisor's support, I've grown my investments to $800k by trading stocks, which has really boosted my confidence about what's coming next. So, make sure you find someone trustworthy. It'll pay off in the end.

Having a trusted advisor to help navigate your finances can really ease worries about the future. It's awesome to hear how much your advisor has helped you with your investments. I'm in a similar spot-I've saved up $650k and I'm excited to see it grow, but I'm on the lookout for someone reliable to help guide me. Would you mind sharing your advisor's name with me? I'm really curious to see if they could help me too.

Really interesting video. And good ending mentioning your services. Karen is a really nice lady. And she has 5 years experience. 6 months in a place is still a newcomer but they know the ropes. And she said important things 2or 3 times she mentioned learning Spanish. And they volunteer too. Also realistic cost of living. Excellent video. Thanks. You came through again. Good people

Hi Jerry and Lori, my husband and I were wondering if the retirement facility mentioned in one of your videos has progressed. The lady interviewed was like a Facilitator in San Francisco for the elderly to relocate in Ajijic for care. Thank you for your contribution to assist potential ex-pats ❤

Talk more about immigration and residence permits.
@JerryBrownTravels10 ай бұрын
That's a good suggestion I'll make a video on that I do have videos on permanent and temporary resident visa's if you go to KZbin type in jerry brown travels put in permanent Mexican visas. Studios are older so the amounts that I talk about are different today to qualify for a temporary visa you have to show US$5000 a month and $5900 US a month for a permit. These prices are different at different Mexican Consulate.

How do you work with Social Security being sent to Mexico to pay for your stay there?
@JerryBrownTravels10 ай бұрын
Social Security will deposit your check in any country around the world. So you can have your Social Security check deposited in the country that you would like to live ( such as Mexico ). We have our Social Security checks deposited in our U S account and then we use a ATM card from that bank to get our money down here so this way you do not have to have a bank account outside of the United States.

This looks amazing! Is Zihuatanejo truly affordable for someone planning to retire solely on Social Security?
@JerryBrownTravels10 ай бұрын
Lori and My research has shown that a couple can live anywhere from $2000 a month to $2500 a month for two people. Single person in our experience would be around $1500 a month to $2200 a month. Like Karin says in this video they are living on $2000 a month but that does not include any travel. If you want to travel and if you have any medication and doctor visits generally will be more expensive. Depending on your health.
