Why Vader Was a BETTER FIGHTER Than Anakin

Given that Anakin focused less on his force powers (and probably took them for granted because of his high midichlorian count) I think it is more accurate to say that Vader, post limb lost, developed his mastery of his force powers. His telepathic range had increased from Attack of the Clones to Empire Strikes Back. Also, during Shadows of the Empire, he began healing his lungs through intense meditation in the dark side, able to breathe on his own without any equipment for a minute at a time, though this was highly taxing. Even though Vader lost a lot of his potential and talent, he developed his force skillset through training.

You forgot to mention that Vader also used elements of form 2 into his combat form as well. He was known for using one hand most of the time unless if an opponent was his equal. And because form 2 required balanced footwork and economy, Vader used this range of motion for his movement. More or less similar to how Qui-Gon Jinn used form 4 without using traditional acrobatics such as flips and cartwheels.

I think what George said was that Anakin's potential got significantly cut off meaning what he could have been had he applied himself properly... When Anakin got immolated he simply lost that potential and hit a ceiling of 80% of Palpatine. But its wrong to say that Vader was weaker in the force than Anakin infact Vader was significantly stronger than he was at Knightfall it was simply his ceiling which had dropped

I think he is actually weaker because he is living with a life support system. The guy can't even breath effortlessly and in any sport or fighting the breath is the most essential. Basically he is a handicaped Anakin. A Jedi skills comes from the Force and their physical training. Darth Vader Physical ability is like 50% of any typical Jedi, so his Force ability has been used to make up for this handicap. Additionally, think about the fact that he need a machine to breath and a life support armor. Either he is constantly distracted by the pain while fighting and using the force to fight, or he is on pain killer all the time and it dull his performance.

Vader was a better duelist than Anakin for three reasons: 1) Vader had a more well-rounded and versatile fighting style rather than rely on one form and being a slave to its shortcomings and being able to handle different situations and something that was best suited for him. 2) Vader was a far better tactician than Anakin. He knew when to cut loose or when to be patient or to use a fight as a distraction to achieve a larger goal rather than go into a situation with reckless abandon like Anakin would do. 3) Finally, Vader could control his emotions and think logically under pressure. Anakin would get overly emotional and let his intensity overwhelm his opponents. That may work sometimes, but when he met someone who was able to keep their cool, that aggression and arrogance worked against him.

Your insecurity is showing. Suited Vader is a much more experienced and skilled fighter than Anakin. He's more patient, powerful, and precise. All of Anakin's speed and power wasn't able to do anything at all to Obi-Wan, yet suited Vader was clearly more of a threat. There was no 30-minute stalemate. He could've even finished Obi-Wan if he had been more careful. His suit weighs him down, but that doesn't mean he's necessarily slow moving his arms and swinging a saber. He could definitely overpower Anakin, as his cybernetic implants made him more physically stronger than ever, and his Force powers were as well. Vader already compensated for his lack of mobility in his fighting style so I don't know how you think it's an issue.

Vader reaching his peak after Mustafar was better all around. Yes his Force potential was reduced. He was able to to things that Anakin did not Force wise. Anakin was far more acrobatic but functional agility doesn't require somersaults in combat. Vader was a smarter martial artist & overall warrior. The novel by James Luceno "Dark Lord The Rise of Darth Vader" is one good example.

Sidious was looking for a disciple to become his new body for transmigration spirit in the future. How he changed clones in the Dark Empire, and wanted to move into the body of Luke in episode 6 and Rey in episode 9. I think it you already understand that the dark lord in his current state was not a very suitable vessel that could not even use lightning, since living hands and the lack of cybernetics sensitive to electricity are needed. If you've read the comics, you know that Palpatine saved Anakin and made him an apprentice, since all his work went in vain if he died and it would take time to find another student. As it was, the emperor needed a warrior and a servant to carry out his orders. Vader defeated all candidates or sent them on assignments from which his competitors did not return. And the dark lord himself proved his loyalty over and over again. Sidious also wanted to replace Vader because he began to feel that there was light in his student's soul, at the emperor's was a vision of betrayal, and no one canceled the rule of two. You forgot the most important detail... Vader's plot armor. The only reason Vader's able to do anything at all is because his opponents magically become stupid and/or let themselves be killed. I can beat Vader a hundred times over again if I had the virtue of him being dumbed down to the level of all his opponents. That or simply exiting a door and then coming back the next frame saying I defeated an army of millions or something. If it happens off camera or if his enemies let themselves be killed, it's plot armor.

Anakin list of encounters mostly victorious. Vader is just a very long list of failures, ultimate movie villain? Nope even failed in his own franchise. In my opinion Palpatine is a superb character whose story is told throughout the whole of the live action main story movies (the 9). Ian McDiarmid absolutely made for the part brings a completely immersive character. There aren’t too many actors who make you feel as if they are the character rather than a performer portraying a part. Two such actors, both in Star Wars are obviously Ian McDiarmid and also Michael Sheard (Admiral Ozzel) 👌

The force had its own plan for Anakin, which it followed. Just like everyone else. Anakin did a great job with his role by fulfilling the purpose of setting the balance. Moreover, he defeated the Sith by surpassing Sidious and becoming a ghost of the force. And Sidius only knew how to move a spirit into clones, without achieving true immortality. Besides, not every dark lord could return back from the dark side to the light side. Vader is a wonderful multifaceted character with his own story and tragedy, who has learned a lot and changed through his thorny path.

In the Kenobi series, Vader was still getting used to the costume and the new fighting style. Think of the late Vader and you will understand that he has become more powerful over the years. According to the original script in Obi-Wan, Vader would have won the second duel with the teacher according to the original script, but the series is not about him, unfortunately.

So you're basing it off a fight between 2 old people that knew each other well and Luke tapping into the Dark Side and defeating a CONFLICTED Vader?

Maybe because it was filmed in the 80s and 70s they didn’t have the technology to make the fights look as good as in the prequels and no Vader wipes the floor with anakin and your acting like Luke wouldn’t beat anakin you said your sticking to the real “og” stuff then you should know George himself has said Luke is the most powerful Jedi ever Vader is more powerful, mastered all lightsaber forms, more attuned to his emotions, stronger and robust Vader would wipe the floor with anakin

@@gamingfusion419 the prequel fights look better from a cinematography pov. However og trilogy Vader uses actual kendo and fencing techniques. Even based on what we see…Vader wins.
